plls crying: but then every one will wanna play as tank...
    YEAH lol ...

Would make sense back when there was only one tank class. Just need a slight buff to lancer DPS (ignoring all PVP [filtered] atm) and tanks will be just fine. Tanks are really not hard to find these days. Am I the only one who remembers when either you had a lancer or nothing?

Lancer's dps is already too high, and not like Lancer is particularly the most interesting one. Notice how there's less tanks when Brawler got nerfed and Lancer was buffed? Yeah. If anything they should fix the issues Brawler has, "revamp" Berserker to make both dps and tank forms more appealing to play, and possibly with the future crit buff Warrior gets more will tank as Warrior then as well. Warrior tank was largely ignored until now, and BHS forgot Berserker can tank.
  • What about War revamp? they still useless for tank? or with this revamp they are be able to tank RMHM for example, i really don't know somebody can explain me if this update worth it?
  • There isn't a tank issue on TR, you have to realize most of the lfg groups are players who are still learning or don't care to push themselves to dps hard and healers that are new or don't care to do anything which keeps tanks away from joining, me personally I get better groups through instance matching than joining lfg groups on TR most of the time unless its enraged making the group. Most don't want to be in a run for a long time, each boss should be killed at most, 5min per boss fight in any dungeon that is currently out. I have 6 geared tanks that I run on throughout the day but I am picky when I make lfg, I only trust certain guilds/players and their alts. 15-20min per dungeon run isn't much to ask I think it is a pretty fair standard to go by and I am sure someone here will say 20min per dungeon is slow which it is but it is faster than the average lfg party on tr 30-40min for rmnm lol...I've had groups where we clear rmhm bosses in 2 1/2min-3min each which is pretty nice when it happens.

By doing so you also actually make it accessible to people with slower reaction time, because the main reason why most people don't like to tank is that there is too much pressure to handle the boss in the front.
    This.

BHS/EME made tanking a bit easier. Do you remember the times when you had to tank with your back against the wall to prevent being pushed back? All you could see was some claws and you had to guess what boss attack comes next. We also now have a glowing animation while block is active.

I can fully understand that tanking should not be a child's play. But I don't have the reaction time like a teenager anymore and a >120ms ping from europe. With my lancer, Kalivan's Challenge may be the safety limit for me.

    ----
I don't think higher rewards will lure people into tanking, because tanking is a certain mindset. Potential tank players are people who have knowledge about the boss' attack/animation and the timing. In contrast, a DPS player does not care for that at all. A DPS is fine with looking at the big warning on screen and react.

I don't need a guitar hero guide where tanking advices are flashing on screen. But let's exaggerate and imagine every skill giving a block (like Brawler, haha). Those who are potential tank players would surely play a tank then as there's no difference to a DPS.

I remember tanking against walls but I also had fov set to 120 which allowed me to still see the boss in most cases and not being forced to only see their feet or claws.
  • There is not necessarily a tank shortage but tank players that dont want to tank because its just not worth it. Tanks are the most important part of the party then healers and after that dps players I play all roles and tank is the most demanding mentally. Using RMHM i spend on avg 30 -60min in there depending on the quality of the players which at least 90% of players are plebs(probably wrong but i doubt it). now as the tank the responsibilty of keeping aggro the boss so that the dps can operate efficiently and minimizing the pressure on the healers is not hard but taxing especially when everyone is dying. So after going through that hell for 30-60 mins on avg only to get meh rewards and thats only if i have vanguards left is absolutely not worth it and that is why most GOOD TANKS dont LFG and will continue not to lfg at all. So it all comes back to needing better rewards for the time invested until then there will always be a shortage of persons willing to lfg and not just tanks.

People respond to incentives if there are none why bother
  • I don't understand why they wouldn't implement the feature for IMS. Most games already have it built in. If the queue has no Tanks, then the rewards increase for tanks. If the queue has no healers, the rewards increase for healers. It obviously won't solve the problem but it would definitely help.
  • This has been brought up many times and yet no one has solution to this problem. Just give up. Make good tank friend.

Issue is not about available tank classes. It is about people who want or don't want to play tank. I loved tanking in Tera all from beta to about year ago (nothing wrong with it, I just got bored). I leveled 5 lancers up to 60, (each different race). Then i slowly discovered that my connection lag does not let me tank harder stuff (where one mistake means death), it was mostly fine but sometimes lag spike ruined the day. Another aspect of tanking, as tank you need to be prepared, geared up and focused on game, so days where i was tired or just slower days did not let me play my favorite class. And in early days of Tera most of people in dungeons had no clue about bosses or trash location, they also loved to rush (just pull random trash). So situation when i am going to pull pack from left side of corridor and some squishy class pulls stuff from right side was quite common. All of this means that as tank you need to be party leader and you need to be bossy, and not everybody and not always want to do it (and without any additional benefit). Tank needs to be overgeared, focused, know dungeon, sober, full of supplies, save all rushing idiots all that while as ranged dps i can play totally drunk, aim in general direction of boss and let my cat press skill buttons (Sorc was my second class for days when i was drunk). No matter of classes, there will never be enough people for tanking (same goes with healers). Tanking is state of mind it is not class, I could tank as Sorc very easy just for very short time.

Couple ppl here I take with a grain of salt.
Reducing tank instance reset by 50% might allow tanks to run more often.
Increasing intensive to complete a dungeon as a tank might justify the pressures of performing as a tank vs a dps.
Maybe for once add some appealing tank skins on the store.
Not that I personally want to see this. But reduce the pressure of responsibility on the player when tanking.

To even talk about lancer dps when low ping is required in a game where that's a rare thing and even more rare to even play a lancer is idiotic.
A thimble full of people in tera's entire population do a LOT of dmg with a lancer.

People want to see high numbers the easiest way possible because their epeen helps them sleep at night. It's that simple if we are all honest.
Rarely will anyone be astute enough to even quantify the difficulty of a class in their assessment or ability to dodge. So DPS numbers are attractive and almost always are the only things that matter.

Same for every other class. Ping impacts all classes just different, but it all comes down to a loss of dps.

Same for every other class. The average dps is barely 1/3 what top end dps players do with dps classes. This extends to healers with debuff up times, etc.

I honestly preferred tanking when I could generate threat over doing DPS for aggro because I've never cared for doing DPS on my lancer or warrior, mainly just debuffs, holding aggro, and positioning. The new system of aggro = dps is just horrible in my opinion.

Solution...make tanking fun again. As a tank main for pretty much all NA Tera's existence, tanking is like watching grass grow. It does not feel rewarding or challenging.

All these one shot ko's are a cheap way of keeping tanks on their toes. It gets old fast.

Bring back an actually aggro system and use more engaging tanking mechanics instead of these repetitive and boring one shot dance dance revolution gameplay mechanics.

ye make brawler fun again before hater asked to nerf them, bring back december 2015 brawler :3
  • Once they remove CD on Growing Fury, brawlers will do busted damage again.

We already have a variety of tank classes. There is only 2 healer classes compared to possible 4 tank classes. What more variety do you want?

Ask anyone who mains tank but also have DPS Alts. They would say that once they switch to DPS, it's much more "relaxing". Tanking puts much more pressure. It is often frustrating. The consequence of death as a tank is more severe. DPS don't give a [filtered] whether boss needs to be repositioned and take stealing Agro as a fun personal challenge. People that complain about tank shortage doesn't even respect the tank when they meet one.

I have to spend an arm and leg to get not just good weapon but armor too. After tanking with guile armor for a while, I bought imp chest and the difference is noticeable. When was the last time anyone acknowledge that tanks have more need for better gear and yield mats to them?

You have to be a bit masochist to play tank.
  • @Margarethe
Agreed. I respect healers. They too have difficult job. In many dungeons except double healer or pro party, their job is more difficult than tank's job.

Their gear requirement may be lower but they are under a lot of pressure.

Healers are pretty hard to find too.

Healers honestly seem like a dime a dozen to me.
