Coming back to TERA

Hi guys,
I've come back to TERA, for the 3rd time. I'm planning to play again with some of my buddies. This time i'm gonna be Brawler and I have a few question.
I know Brawler is a tank and melee also, which means they are at disadvantage in faction war/open world. However, are they any relevant in PvP ? Are they high skill cap or just not as good (let's say, compared to Warrior) in PvP because from what I've seen on youtube, they're very low on mobility and their skills set is not really practical in PvP
Another question is gear progression. I know enough about gear in PvP, usually there are 2 pve tier sets and Visionmaker gear, excluding PvP gears. Last time I left off at Timescape Hard Mode, (and before that was Rift Edge/Abscess) and I think Timescape should be removed by now. So, what is the gear progression, which dungeon to do and if possible, which set I can skip and which sets I'm aiming for ? Do people still make gold from Dreamstorm?
Also, when I logged in today, I noticed a huge gold inflation (Almost all costumes and armors price went up by 3 time since I last played) and also, they brought back Abscess and Channelwork ?
P/s: ty anyone for replying

brawlers are not tank AND anything. they are a tank. and they are not at any sort of disadvantage because they're are ridiculously broken and over powered. in pve and pvp. low skill cap. i can tank just fine by button mashing on my brawler (well in the lower level areas) most brawlers run the boss in circles and act like a friggin dps class. i rarely see any good ones. they can juggle you in pvp (provided they have another brawler buddy or a ninja) an have a few staggers. their third click block is a stagger that doesn't have a cooldown because it's autoattack.

gear progression in pve is dreadnaught > slaughter > and... idk the name for the new vm i think imposter or something. dreadnaught is dropped in channelworks and kalavain's challenge. if you do the red island of dawn quest they give you a whole set. and they give a wep and chest piece for doing the red quests dougal gives you in highwatch. slaughter is dropped in demekron factory (frick all this spelling)

inflation depends on your server. and channelworks was brought back shortly after the 65 cap. they also brought back wonderholme along with abscess normal and hard. wh is just normal right now. we should be getting the hm versions of everything nnnnnext weeeek? don't quote me on that.

Brawlers are still OP, dish out dps like a DPS and with the utilization of knock-ups and pulls viable in PvP too, especially in mass pvp like FWC, 3v3 you need skills like on every other class.
An average player can play Brawlers just fine, but its the ultimate min-max class as you have very few skills to use and keeping up Growing Fury is hard.

You are new, so after you lvl to 65 you should do the IoD quest first, than there is a red quest given by Dougal in Highwatch which you need to complete (KC-->CW-->ABNM-->Demokron Factory(DF)). Dreadnaught is low tier now and you get every ingredient needed to enchant and MW your items. Feedstock is hard to farm now, so if something drops in KC or CW for you use that to enchant the same piece as it is the new method now. Farm IoD daily for the tokens from which you can buy Slaughter gear (new mid tier) or farm ABHM, WH for last patch BiS gear Starfall.
The new VM7 comes out on Tuesday and keep in mind that the new gear is actually better for tanks as it gives a higher base attack.
In DF Slaughter gear drops and as tank you should be able to do it in DN gear too.

I recommend you to check out the essentialmana.com site as they have info on all gears so you can make the comparisons yourself as well as methods to obtain.
    Gear Compilation
    Gear Progression

Dreamstorm is removed. As well as several end game dungeons. For the new patch read the Patch Notes or the Essentialmana patch preview

Last patch Ghillie dropped an average of 500-600 g per run with elite gold boost and TaR was a thing so inflation jumped record high, but in the new patch all gold earning methods were taken out and the only thing remained is the Vanguard quests. Feedstock too is a problem (you can't dimantle 65 gear anymore) EME has yet to solve, so the current doubled vanguard will change in the future, don't look at it, like it's going to stay there forever.

    Good luck!

I wouldn't call it a tank it's a front dps. Disadvantage? piling pack of enemies , kicking it into air and biting the crap outta them while they are floating unable to do to anything is a huge disadvantage. You wanna be a good brawler here is a tip one and only: Remember to turn the boss for DPS to backbit. That is how good brawlers play in pve.
  • Thanks for the feedback, everyone seems to dislike Brawler as a tanking class because the players tend to move around a lot, making dps class having a harder time. I already played Lancer so that won't be a problem. And it seems that their skills mechanic making the opponents unable to escape are pretty OP in pvp, especially 1v1.

So I have a few item that would sell for a high amount of gold (Say, some rare Nut Hatch weapon skin from the old BAM event) should I sell it now before the next patch, or the price is already dropping.
Also, can I skip the Dreadnaught set or I have to +9 it before going up to Slaughter ?

That all depends on the gear you're in. If you're below probably schisma, I'd go dread first. If you're in schisma or lucid you could probably skip dread if you're relatively skilled in your class.
