How to handle mobs as warrior?

How to handle mob crowds in dungeons as warrior? I'm trying to start with battle cry to stun and after that I'm pretty much reduced to holding block all the time and using ToB off cd. This makes me lose aggro fast but if I drop block even for a sec (chained BD) I'm immediately taking heavy dmg. As a brawler I just spam frontal block/cc skills, but warrior is impossible.

  • Roll around like a mad man or just play brawler :^)

You can use rain of blows. It's also okay to take damage during mobs, kind of the healer's job to heal, but if they don't heal, then not much you can do honestly since on Lancer I face tank with counter and onslaught.

Round em up,stun one, cascade of stun to spread it, aggro shout, block and use your shadow flanker. It will hold them until their death if your party's strong enough. Assist with dps.
  • Like Atvaark said, I assume you're tanking level 65 stuff as low level dungeon doesn't really hit that hard, if so, Smoke Flanker is your best friend. Its better to use this after shout if possible, because it carries the argo value you currently have off you, and since you have highest agro for 5 sec after shouting, this will basically guarantee the shadow never looses agro until it de-spawns. (Side note: this is also one of the best way to ensure the boss does not agro dps if you were to die in any boss. Res> Shout> Block>Flanker. Since warrior agro generation is rather poor, this will ensure you build enough agro not to randomly loose it again.) If this is not possible, your next bet is to block and use torrent off cooldown but keep eye out for skills that life the mobs up, such as time bomb(gunner) and circle of steel (ninja). In this moment, if shout is off cooldown, use shout. If not, feel free to use any skill until the are back standing on ground and repeat. Lastly, I know it might be frustrating not having same control as brawler, but just remember your job as tank is to keep them off rest of dps and heal so they can well dps and heal.

    Best,

  • Thank you for your helpful responses, I totally forgot about flanker and that should help a lot!
  • dont forget to use death from above (imortal during animation) and pounce (50 % less dmg while animation lasts)

DFA has an animation lock at the end of the jump when you're not invulnerable anymore, unless they changed that. Really only something to use as a last resort when you're tanking a pack of dungeon mobs (i.e. out of RE for some reason).

No please, Like Catorii said, DO NOT EVER DO THIS. By the time you can block again after the animation, you'll have taken heavy (if not dead) damage. You should never really have to do this even as last resort, if you're using Torrent off cd, It will regenerate basically Full RE, depending on how many mobs there are. So, in reality, you should never use DFA when taking mobs. Pounce is also a bad idea, because the damage is so little, its wont affect anything. :3 DFA is good for things you cannot block, for example - If you have debuff in Lache, you can DFA third hit and at same time frame the swipe, during enrage. Or on first boss, when he charges back, you can roll back, then DFA and basically take no damage, while keeping the boss stationary.
