On MT, everything was manageable with everyone farming SSNM for catalyst before mongos. Yes, there was the occasional hiccup. But that's to be expected with everyone hammering one dungeon hard.

As soon as Mongos hit Yesterday, you could definitely notice lagging when the Legendary Mongos were out and about.

Today, everything was fine until 3pm PST (before Mongos). I could DPS and get around just fine. After 3PM PST, all manners of lag issues hit really hard. I've seen people perfectly capable of clearing SSNM and RMNM on a normal day just stop dead and die to lag, including some wipes that would never have happened under normal circumstances.

@Spacecats, this is Dreamstorm 2.0 all over again. The servers can't handle the standard weekend farming AND all the additional mobs that the server has to spawn and tell every connected client about.
I was on for the mt lag last night. Im not sure if it's the same for other servers but on mt the lag seems to be coming from the parcel system. Every time we killed a legendary the server lagged trying to mail items to each player. I was wondering if anyone else also noticed that it seemed to be the cause.

Im guessing last night's spawn rate wasn't intended so hopefully today is a little better since there shouldn't be as many.

I was on last night and I agree. Things were lagging when the post was sent out (though there were only 10 legendaries, all died within 40 minutes), so it wasn't the extended lag of the night before.
  • Yep whenever the mongo legendary hits, it's like almost everyone is on and the servers are crowded. It was so crowded the other day that opening the kyra catalyst window was a failure. Had to wait the next day to open that window. At this point even if you have like 25 ms ping, it won't matter because the servers are so loaded that there is always that 1-2 seconds delay at random times. Seemed to slow down a bit after the boss raids were over but still ping was a bit high like 30-50ms higher than usual.

    -snip-

lag is biggest reason ppl have quit over years

seriously now P2P games without dedicated servers work better than this no lie
Even COD MW3 better than this and that says something
  • I'm from Brazil. My ping used to be 120ms~150ms. Now it's 200ms~250ms. Yeah. Working as intended.
  • I'm from California, my ping was 80-100, now it's like 130-160.

To eliminate all possible causes, please post your traceroute to diag.enmasse.com.

    Like in my case...

    6 31 ms 31 ms 30 ms 63-235-41-149.dia.static.qwest.net [63.235.41.149]
    7 33 ms 32 ms 32 ms 63.146.26.106
    8 31 ms 32 ms 32 ms cr2-xe-9-2-2.jfk2.savvis.net [206.28.99.201]
    9 46 ms 48 ms 45 ms cr2-te-0-1-0-1.chd.savvis.net [206.28.100.245]
    10 44 ms 48 ms 45 ms cr1-tengig-0-0-2-0.chicago.savvis.net [204.70.196.241]
    11 44 ms 44 ms 43 ms 206.28.101.165
    12 46 ms 96 ms 58 ms 64.37.205.6
    13 44 ms 44 ms 44 ms 208.67.49.180

... hop 12, before it hits the destination (but probably a router at the service provider), seems a bit suspect right now. It doesn't mean that is definitively the problem, but the more data there is, the better.

Yeah I had some really bad ping last night right when the legendary time started. Ran some traceroutes (forgot to screenshot them) and savvis was getting around 200-300 ms. My understanding is that it is even worse than it was the prior days when we get so many people on at the same time during that time for the event. The prior days ping was about <100ms, so not sure if anything changed after maintenance yesterday. But all in all during the time legendary was on, it was almost unplayable.

Which leads to: if people are doing dungeons or harrowhold runs, it will be impossible because of that issue. Even prior to yesterday's maintenance when doing dungeons, there seem to be some kind of lag at random times. I usually run around 25-40 ms but at times I kept missing my skill rotations or having trouble chaining my normal skill rotations. This was after when the legendary spawns were over. At first I Thought something is wrong with my keyboard but then realized it's not and it's either the server or their routing provider as Counterpoint mentioned.

When this gonna be fixed? Really, I'm almost a month without playing because my computer broken. I just fixed it today and I can't even stay online for 10min. Lag all the time with a sweet crash at the end.
I don't even care about this event anymore, I just wanna play!
    EME plz, fix this! =/
