Lumbertown

Any Idea what is going to happen with Lumbertown? I have already noticed the zone quest no longer accessible. Not that its a bad thing. I'm just curious as to what is actually planned for it down the road.

You can still get to Tuwangi from lumbertown though.

The optional yellow quests should be available after level 10 by default, as it hasn't been removed; only the red story quest was removed from Lumbertown, Fey Forest, Valley of Titans, and a small portion of Celestial Hills. As we all know, there are many many many things abandoned in the realm of TERA, and we will probably never expect to see changes to these areas... ever again.

As most game developers move on when they announce plans on the next great MMORPG, they probably plan to cut ties and milk the product until it starts costing them money to keep this MMORPG alive.
  • It makes me kinda sad how much they've cut from the game to appease newbies.

Hmm I must have done those zone quest. I don't remember doing them though. I'll have to take your word for it.

you might be right. They might not do anything with Lumbertown. Perhaps tear it up like they did Island of Dawn.

Something tells me its not the newbies though. I'm considered a newbie. I think its a mix of old player base and mainly hack and slash type of players.

It's funny though, as a newbie (I've played on and off for a few years, but my total play time is fairly low), and I'd have loved nothing more than if they'd kept adding on the game instead of removing everything. I've never seen the lv 60 raids, or a good amount of the 65 endgame dungeons, because they were straight up removed, same goes for the questlines and stories the game tell.

It feels like I've missed a ton that I can't get to experience, not even on a low difficulty. Other MMOs (Like WoW, RIFT etc.) have kept a lot if not all their content as it was, or close to it, so you can still get to see the places and discover the stories, even if no longer relevant.

I wish they could of as well, as I am a very old player for this MMORPG, yet because I've moved accounts, lost some, and even had one hacked and forever deleted, I can never get those certain achievements, or items that I once owned. It bothers me a lot but... things come and go.

You won't see them by default as they're set to be hidden. Change that in the options.

That only affects the map and mini-map visuals. If he traveled to Lumbertown and realized that there are no yellow explanation points on top of the NPC's head, then that would mean they are completed.

Nope, you'd need to talk to the NPCs to see if there are zone quests. The exclamation marks are hidden as well.

If I hadn't of done the quest then that would be true. I think I did them Or I would have seen them.

However I don't wish to derail the actually topic.

I'm curious about the fate of Lumbertown.

Well if IOD has taught me anything....
  • When I started playing I really loved going to that little town, choose(!) my mount at the horse merchant and then the first region to explore was Fey Forest which looks so lovely and magical. Maybe the game at that point was kinda confusing to newbies ('where can I get a mount pls help', 'where can I get this and that') but people were always willing to help and you made connections easily.
Now it's just you arriving in Velika, a random guy slams a mount in your face and you do a few quests until you can enter dungeons. Or, as recommended by the game itself via main quest: Kumas. Lol wut.
Afaik the game has been one of the most popular ones even while it was more complex. Now BHS is taking way so much content and the popularity seems to be declining. Hmm..

Oh, I see. I guess I never had that problem because of how long I've been playing, and I've never noticed it... Apologies.

Anyways, I still wouldn't assume anything great will happen to these areas. After their public announcement from BHS telling the network that their next "AAA MMORPG" is labeled Project "W" (now official known as Project World), their plans are to create something that successes greater than TERA's previous capabilities. Though, with nothing to show and just all talk, I have yet to be impressed on their upcoming title. With that being said, I can say with confidence that I don't see impressive changes for this game any time soon, but more of what we're already seeing to keep funding flowing for this "AAA MMORPG".
