A Guild Master's feedback on the current patch

Hello,

Manapot/Manawars here, GM of Mana on Tempest Beach where only the cool kids gets to swim and everyone else is left stranded. Just kidding! Well kind of… Anyhows once in a while I’d like to share some game feedback on a GM’s pov as I have a pretty big overview of the server. In doing so, I hope it would give the eme a bit more connection with the community and make things great for both the gamer and the provider.

1) Firstly would like to thank the developers of TERA for having a great HH patch. I must say that I haven’t had this much fun in a while and it’s all thanks to having a large raid size where you can cooperate with a bunch of other people. I like raid size content the most on tera simply because it gets people out of their 5 man static and it also allows you to meet players of the same class. For example, as a tank I rarely get to play with or meet other tanks. The idea of a weekly clear dungeon really fostered the growth of alt characters where it allows more flexibility to form groups.

2) Secondly, I would like to say there’s a lot of untapped potential on tera. I mentioned it here and there the past year how tera has an amazing open world that most people miss out on. Lately these mongo hunting has highlighted quite a bit of the beauty of tera and I believe it’s a step in the right direction.

3) Thirdly, I think there is a fundamental lack of leadership or self-esteem on tera. What I mean by this is there’s a large group of players giving up on a patch because they can’t find a group for something or they don’t think they’re good enough. This situation is partially created by the presence of dps meter, which does have its merits don’t get me wrong. But back to my first point, this is one of the reasons I like large sized raids (20-30 players). Raid leaders have more flexibility to take someone who isn’t as experienced or not as geared because they carry a smaller weight in a raid compared to a 5 man HM dungeon. (It also allows me to afk :D)

Another reason I decided to post this was to share how Mana Raid started on TR and how proud I am of my runners. Initially, I began hosting HH raid to help players who couldn’t find a raid 4-5 weeks into the HH patch. I did a bunch of p1 training runs as some may see from LFG from time to time and in fact is still being carried out today by my helpers. As a fresh raid we managed to clear p3 pre-buff and just couple days ago we got our first p4 clear! Right now I count over 250 members on my discord channel and I host about 4 raids a week. Most of my members are players who are decently geared but never had a chance to step inside HH. I always tell my runners that if they're skilled in RMHM then they're capable of clearing HH. Just would like people to know that there’s a pretty big talent pool on TERA and it just takes a couple of good leaders to bring them out. I would really like to see more incentives in the future for leads and more large scale content so these leads can reach out to more players.

Most of my runs are streamed on twitch -> manapot3. Thanks for reading and enjoy a wonderful patch.

so you are not manaboost ?
  • No that's not me, there's a lot of people using Mana names and may claim to be me. But if you don't get confirmation from Manawars then good chance it's not me :P

and what happen to tafe? is long time we dont see him
  • AV seems fine to me. Most of the people I see claiming it to be dead are people who can't get a HH carry because they clearly lack something, Don't expect people to carry you. Move servers if the one you are on doesn't want to carry you or thinks of you as a walking meme. @Nootiful Doesn't speak for AV and we don't even acknowledge his input.

If HH was a success they wouldn't have had to make the raid size smaller
That's called sophism. If they changed it it was bad; a cat has four legs, a tail and two ears, hence if i see an animal that has four legs, a tail and two ears, it is a cat.

As someone who is enjoying this Harrowhold raid a ton (I'm one of the top 3 clear ranking for Harrowhold P4 on Moongourd as of this post :proud: ), I'll agree with a lot of your post.

This raid has got me to branch out in several senses. In the past, I used to play with just 4 other people, in a static group of 5. Then I moved to playing with a small guild of people. But with the raid, I met the different people across different guilds of TR, and now I've gotten to play with MT as well. I rarely get to play with other mystics as a mystic, or other priests as a priest, so it's been fun different experience. I've enjoyed coordinating with 7 other healers for uptimes and pushing for new heights in a large scale setting. Sure, it can be frustrating sometimes cause there are more opportunities for things to go wrong with more people, but it makes it more rewarding when it does go well.

Harrowhold also encouraged me to branch out and try more alts, and I'm sure the same for many other hardcore endgame players. I now have 12 alts I actively play on, and I'm looking forward to learning more classes. It's kind of been a vicious cycle though; I need more alts to raid more, and I need to raid more to afford more alts. :eh: I probably don't need to make more alts at this point, but if there is a raid that needs a healer, I want to be there!

I'll be glad when the 20-man version comes, cause I think it will allow for more raids to be formed more easily, which means more raids for me. :hurrah: But I will certainly miss the 30-man version as well when it's gone. Sure, it can be difficult to fill and coordinate 30 people at once, but the large-scale combat isn't really often seen in this game, and it was still a fun different experience actually playing in a 30-man raid.

P.S. On a side note, I do feel sorry for how the smaller servers have been affected by the raid. With a combination of people leaving for the larger servers (MT/TR) and people just quitting the game, the smaller servers have been hit hard. It's gotten to a point where I feel that we may be nearing the time where another server merge may be appropriate. I'll be rooting for Fey Forest meanwhile though!

And yet a lot of them make sweeping statements like 'X sever is dead', 'every player knows', 'no-one asked for this', that kind of thing.
