@Ginjitsu
That is a technicality. It does not change the fact as to how it is presented as a whole. While grammar isn't being taken into consideration on this poll I understand your view. Nonetheless it's being presented as "Moondancer" not "Moon Dancer".
On a side now how it is being presented is being discussed all over. Many like it many to do not. At the end on the 5th the winning name would be announced.
I'm fairly certain that the poll is programmed to end at a specific time, this may by chance prevent a draw. Maybe.
You're entire argument (which you have repeated 700 times now) is that Moondancer should be rejected because it is 2 names.
I am saying Bluehole studio is an example of a perfectly acceptable name formed by 2 independent words creating 1 singular word.
here are several thousand examples for your edification http://www.enchantedlearning.com/grammar/compoundwords/
It should be rejected just like Lunar Dancer was rejected, combining twowords doesn'tmake greatnames and justlooks asbad as itsounds!
Why do you keep going on about this? Moondancer makes the most sense, and technically Valkyrie is already taken by Russian TERA.
Nearly ALL the skills for this class do with the moon and the moon giving the character its energy to deal damage and such...
There are so many things you can be doing other than ARGUING OVER A NAME on a forum.
again, Bluehole studio is compound name and sounds fine to me.
Valkyrie is a nice sounding name but has nothing to do with the class.
Moondancer sounds OK and is related to the class, best of a bad bunch IMHO.
EME should have let us come up with the voting candidates even if the class eventually got called Poledancer because of all the lol's
Simplified:
1 - Valkyrie is "choosers of the slain/those who fall in battle", a female helping spirit of the god Odin who choose those who may die in battle and those who may live.
2 - Those fallen heroes goes to Valhalla, afterlife hall ruled by god Odin.
3 - Valkyrie pronounced as “VAL-ker-ee”, "valkyrja" in Old Norse with its plural as in "valkyrjur".
4 - Composed of two words; noun "valr", referring to the slain on the battlefield, and verb "kjósa" as "to choose". Together its mean "chooser of the slain".
5 - Even these noble goddess are seen as "chooser of the slain", they are other Valkyries, (got some names that pretty much not-relevant).
6 - Pretty much those other Valkyries are varies in terms of power, from who sees the future, bear the shield, pure power, who sit in the councils (intelligent or very smart/bossy goddess) to female warrior (or Goddess of War - Goddess that battle without the need of weapons).
7 - The only closed weapons that any of those Valkyrie uses is Spear but it's still unclear that if they actually use any weapon as their are "Goddess" or able to perform "magical attack".
8 - Spear comes to the minds in terms of Valkyrie's weapon because spear is a weapon that heavily associated with the god Odin.
9 - Whatever they may called, they are still Choosers of the Slain.
10 - Some of them are Goddess/immortals, and some of them are mortals chosen from Viking's mortal maidens or princesses.
11 - It's like mixing another mythology (in this case, Norse mythology) into Tera's Lore. Where's the originality?
Edit: Add something I accidentally missed about Immortals and Mortals Valkyrie in number 10th list above. I'm sorry.
Building onto this quote, Valkyries had no direct association to the moon whereas many of the skills of this new class are in direct relation to references to the moon. Also Valkyries often were chosen by Odin before they even had died, thus the term that we know as "shieldmaiden" being used in conjunction with Vikings. Vikings were believers of Valhalla and shieldmaidens in their society held great respect from their male counterparts. Shieldmaidens were also in part called such because they either used sword/spear and shield to further emphasize the "Who lives and who dies" custom, i.e. sword/spear = death and shield (which can realistically be used to kill) protected people hence the life argument.
RU Tera doens't have a monopoly on the name Valkyrie and why not use it as its already part of the Tera universe!
I didn't know En Masse released names of skills for the new class, I wasn't able to find them... any chance you can link it?
There may be so many other things I could be doing, but I'm choosing to do my own thing ;p
@narkfestmojo
"nice sounding name" > "sounds OK"
Besides... Valkyrie has everything to do with the class as its already part of the Tera universe!
1. Sounds perfect for the new class!
7. Valkyrie Hrist would like a word with you.
10. The new class looks like a goddess.
11. Nothing is originally and in most cases, things are partially borrowed or inspired from.
I reserve lunar, dancer for the new class in FF
When you look at the lore it's not that far off. After all She has become the one to choose who lives and die by her race now. Just saying.
They're names that many people want added aswell
I will add:
10. Valkyries were also mortals, some of them where goddes (being the daughter of Loki one of them). They were choosen by Odin and nor born as Valkyries.
11. As you said, If they wanted to be original then they better ignore the comunity and go for what they think is fits better for them as developer/publisher.
