Lunatic isn't actually that bad for the class, but not with that reason. I'm not sure which version we'll get on the release, the buff from New Moon will only apply once to party members within ~10m radius (or inside the circle drawn by the skill). However, it does stack to the caster 5 times, and it is only useful if you use it while blood moon is active, otherwise, it's a DPS-loss. This skill has 6 minute base CD, so putting glyph of energy may depend on whether you can utilize this to its best potential or not.
I know people don't care about the name and all but if I put my thoughts on it...
As for the name Valkyrie, imo, is terrible naming for the class as it does not fit the concept of the class at all. Usually Valkyrie generally signifies holy being, but Castanics and Devans are designs based on devils. Also the background story of this class wouldn't fit for valkyrie at all as she suffers from bloodlust as she swore revenge on all other Castanic Clans that had turned their backs to the Moon Clan. Valkyrie doesn't symbolize such theme, rather, they're seen as more like guardians. This new class is no guardian, but more of a berserker-type -- like you said, a Lunatic.
The main reason why I called it Lunar Dancer was purely due to its special characteristics, original concept and designs. BHS specifically have said that this class is meant to "Imbune the power of moonlight on her weapon to slash through her enemies swfitly and elegantly as if she were dancing with her weapon."
I've said this before, something like person who seeks revenge, maybe something like Vindicator, fits best for the class if we were to consider the background.
So nope.
Second I do plan to level to 65 and play a lot but my main will always be my Berserker.
Third I did voted on Valkyrie and I do think it fits the class (:
Jtera called them MoonGlaiver, still better than Moondancer and Glaivedancer. xD
I'm afraid not enjoying the class as much as I want to. Warrior and Slayer are not my type of class.
Got some costumes but gonna use them only when I reach lvl 65 and run some end game dungeons.
Plus this class makes the other class I play (slayer) pretty much irrelevant, which also bugs me. So I guess I'll be sticking it out as my main two for a while longer, no big deal.
In essence..... all of this. Like, all of it. Every word.
There are tons of valkyries in mythology, and that holy image we've attributed to them over the years only speaks to a handful of them. Valkyries like Sanngrior and Hildr literally worshiped bloodshed and sang songs before battles about who they were going to murder that day. Incidentally, Sanngrior's name basically means "She who is violent and cruel". They and many other Valkyries could easily fit the mold of the "berserker" archetype.
Putting that aside, the mechanics of the class we're getting (assuming we don't get the nerfed version one day one) fits very well in Valkyrie legend. It's a female warrior that, while possessing significant power herself, carefully chooses strong allies to bring into battle with her and magically enhances their strength in the process.
Thematically, the most notable appearance of Valkyries is when the world is threatened by mad gods that attempt to end it, which is exactly what is occurring in the story around the time we're getting the class.
"Valkyrie" is actually a pretty accurate name for the class, is what I'm trying to say.
The complaints about the name is mostly based on the general perception of how it has been displayed through the media. It's why people thought Paragon made no sense, but if you look at what the word means and what the class is and how it was presented the name Paragon also made sense. Valkyries in a lot of games, and other forms of media, have been given a pretty specific appearance and set of actions. People are basing what a Valkyrie is based on how they were portrayed by other artists and writers, and not what they actually are. I also thought Valkyrie would be a poor choice, not because I thought it doesn't fit the class, but simply because based on what people tend to think when the word Valkyrie is in front of them is something entirely different than what the class is, from appearance, and play style. I still voted for Valkyrie though.
I doubt the translate is really Moonglaiver while is 月光剣士
As for Valkyrie as a class, she looks cool and has one of my favorite race/gender combos (Castanic Female) so I'll definitely be giving her a go, but I'll likely get bored and go back to my CastaMan Sorcerer eventually. I main Lancer and don't plan on changing that ever, so main change won't happen here. Tanks are love, tanks are life for me in TERA~ I hope those who plan on making the switch enjoy their new mains lots!
I do wish I could make a dude, though. I'm running out of lady appearances really, really fast. ; ~;
avenger is the name of the biggest guild in my server and so many people hate them
so moonzie instead moondancer
