About ping and server connection issues

I don't know if this is good at General Discusion and I know I am not the best to say something about this.

However I always see lots of ppl on Tera and every other on-line game to complain about lag and sever connection issues.

Ther is one thing in common on those players on every on-line game and it is that they claim their connection and ISP is not at fault and are the game servers fault.

I have seen ppl like counterpoint and other council member giving non-stop explainations and adressing posible issues, even pointing what is really wrong with some ppl who complain about this, however many don't give info about their trace route and stand on the "Is EME server fault".

Looks like there are some forum users that looks like they work for other games to only be insulting and complaining to make other players getting confused about the real issues that are from EME and their servers.

FPS losses, delays, freezes and highping and manythings can be related at how your connection path has been chose.

There are lots of web pages that give you test results for free, okla was the best but now they dont allow you to make test with an specific server from any place in the world.

I think it would be wise to adress tools and sites that can help other playes to look on their ISP and routing connection issues to moderate the complain for ppl that ignore and think the problem is on Game's server end.

By now I use this site http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest/12243538 and as you can see, even my ping being at 49-79 average I have bufferbloats on some points.

http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest/results/bufferbloat looking at his info you can tell that even in Mexico (country that i am right now) a ping from 228-466 ms and some from France at 23-67 ms.

Everyone must know that this kind of behaviour is not EME's fault. EME can't choose how your path from your ISP to them is traced and they can't do anything to improve it, mean that they have absolutly no responsability to take when is nothing on their end (servers and own ISP).

Sometimes the issue is from them and they have accept it but when ppl complain (those who looks like being paid for that from other games) for the sake of it no wonder EME staff ignore those threads.

I would like to see ppl commenting about speed test webpages that can be reliable so players can use them before making a thread acusing EME for that issue.

Edit: Still learning how to make a custom test http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest/12246210 this will be my ping on a custome test on some Chicago servers. However I don't know what would be the better choice to make a fair comparison on EME servers.

I was lagging a ton, after discussions made, discussing the matter with @counterpoint specially, I changed my ISP, things are way better. Some ISP have routes and stuff that is not good with some servers. I found out about it the hard way lol

I have been playing Tera for the past 2 years. During this time I had a ping of 90-100ms with 10mb internet living in the Caribbean. Some BS started to occur when they applied the savvy on/off thing that my ping skyrocketed to 160. Me playing archer class , poorly designed to be ping dependent, said: "Hell no...". After which I stopped playing until they resolved this issue that a lot of people, mind you, have experienced aside from stability issues as well. Recently I logged with 30mb internet and was surprised to see my ping at 100ms. Oh joy! the ping I USED to have! B## pls...

This image shows my tracert and you can see the first lines show no prob but JUST before going the savvy, we start getting BS. So yea... My ping in Overwatch went from 110ms to 60-70ms with my internet upgrade. In Tera went to what it used to be a year ago. No thanks. Hard to play when also they designed to mechs to be on reaction speed when players with high ping will waste time trying to learn how early they have to press the evade/skills to not insta-die instead of dpsing.
  • Ohh and don't forget this tracert is in the afternoon. If a play at night it gets worse. So yea I won't playing until something is done about it. No fanservic-y OP class/cycle of gear is gonna make me come back. Quite tired of it really. Have fun those of you near servers with 40ms pings, you get to play this miked cow some more. I really enjoyed this game, but its just not fun anymore with these issues.
