Different people have different definition for the phrase - 'game is dying'.
To me TERA is far from dead, with the possibility of eventual slow death maybe, but not dead just yet. Only thing is that the rate of new players joining are very low and many 'older' players have left/ took a break/ cold storage their account.

Yes, it is in a way sad for those of us who have been with TERA from the beginning, to see the population decline, friends leave, and busy towns now empty - A great nation crumbled on it's own weight through time kinda feeling.

The way the game is setup now helps new players skip through the low level content quick and easy.
The GOOD, players get to be high level in a very short time and to do dungeon runs with their high level friends.
The BAD, Many new players do not have enough time to learn the game and their class. They get to High levels, expecting dungeons and game play to be the same at low level (easy).

I get it. Many players are touchy, sensitive when sharing their thoughts and opinions here, because they love this game, they care - except the whinny ones tho. :p

I too came back here after playing other games. Feeling happy and sad at the same time being back. TERA has lots potential and to me this is not how you make full use of good potential.

The information Counterpoint shares should be taken more seriously, especially for this topic. As he said, what we would want for this game isn't always the same as what the world would want to see in TERA, and this needs to be considered. From what I'm seeing with their investments into adding TERA to PS4 and Xbox One market shows that they're willing to keep this MMORPG going, and should not be seen as a cash grab when looking at how much effort they put in the optimization and UI. Just like I said in a different topic, I believe that there is a chance we will see new changes for TERA (and possibility the PC version) in the future if all goes well.

Things do take time, money and effort... We just need to be patient, my friend.
yes things do take time, but 5 years etc of ignorance isnt good either, not to mention we have no definite reason to believe they will optimise the game properly or do anything to affect performance, the "optimization" they claim to have done this far has little to no effect on the game performance. while yes some of hte things counterpoint says is true, conversely they dont need an extra team or a team of genious to undnerstand the garbage they are doing, even players from ktera complained about some of the decisions they made along with all the other markets globally and they just ignored them.
The game is Diying very fast.
There is no new income of players (leveling).

It never happens me before, for example, the low level "Vanguard Outpost" totally empty. No one killing basilisk, no one on the BoL entrance, very low activity on SM entrance.
If there is NO new players, this will fall quickly.

I know, veteran players will not level a new character that way, i know they will IM and BG straight to 60, with no history quest. But new players dont. They usually follow the Story quest and side quests.

Just because you don't see people at the entrance doesn't mean people aren't running those dungeons. They just IM for them.

And no, most players will quickly out-level the story and just go for whatever dungeon they have available. Remember that at level 20 everyone gets the Kuma quest, and that vanguard can boost you to level 24 in one go (maybe more when turning in the two quests that come with it). Even if they go for the story, since they're so high level, they'll just solo the dungeons.

even queuing you dont see people, i leveled an extra tank and healer cuz i was bored and every dungeon queue mostly took 15-20 minutes + if hte game was healthy and had new players in it that wouldnt be the case, also 90% of those people i met in ims were people leveling alts. even in bgs it was the same, you kept seeing the same group of people over and over.

Yesterday i waited for 56 minutes for a stupid ebon tower run. And later that day, quit the LilithNM IM on 34 minutes.
Queue times aren't necessarily a question of "deadness", but a question of class balance as well. By the times stated, I am guessing that you are solo-queuing DPS. Of course it can also be that no one is queueing the content at the time you're playing (and this is also the normal pre-patch lull period).

And well, I do see people in the leveling areas still during regular U.S. primetime, but keep in mind also that a whole bunch of big games have come out in the last while. Without anything new/interesting to draw people to TERA, it's probably not attracting as many new players as it will next month when there's something new to check out. In general I would say that the leveling zones have felt "dead" ever since a few months after original launch (excepting new class launches), and it's partly now because people level so quickly and they can do a lot more via the vanguard window.

queued a tank for 45 minutes for lknm, 30+ mins for rmnm and vok, got 2 garbage people from tr that sat there and talked about politics and [filtered] and then they annoyed the healer and other dps into leaving and then disbanded......

A lot of people are using LFG, which is the way I roll nowadays.
  • I've loved this game since open beta, and played the bejeezus out of it. But there's no denying that over 5 years after release they've only launched 1 *small* expansion.

They are now focusing on releasing new classes to experience the same exact old content over and over. The "dungeons" they release are fundamentally 1 big room with one big HP piñata with scattered one shot mechanics. There are no zones, no stories, no new content.
    It's just sad.

Out of boredom I revisited another game that had been out for just as long to find out a billion technical and quality of life improvements and so much new content - expansions practically twice per year and twenty new levels added in that time. And players in their forum have the temerity to accuse the game of being in maintenance mode. Ha!

Tera and Champions Online are practically at the same level of maintenance mode at present and it's just sad. I wish the best to this game. (But not Elins)

I lvled up a gunner from 1 to 65 last week and never had q times issues as you on low lvl dungeons.

However I have to admit that LKNM is being avoided for many ppl for some reason, even SCHM q time is faster than LKNM.
  • I feel like the Online version of Tera will soon be over :( and apparently be replaced by the console... it will further decrease the population on our side.

Ironically I own an Xbox One and can't wait to remove the client and play on Xbox version when released mainly cause the Client is Just so broken and no future fixes and optimization in sight.

    End of an Era.

It would be lovely if IM would be cross-plataform also with the current cross-server system.
  • All I'm gonna say is I disagree about the PVP stuff. Tera is specially good with it's PVE imo. It's why i came back to this game after many times of quiting. PVP I can find better at other games like BnS. Then again if you are a player who prefers PVP over PVE, which you sound to be like, I guess u'll just see that aspect of it and call it OP PVP game. Me, nah, I don't like Tera PVP at all. Not even interested about any changes in PVP, kinda happy about all changes being PVE wise.
