(Mystic) How Do I Heal?
I've gotten to lv 38 and had an actual challenge in the cultist dungeon, having to do everything in my power to keep the tank standing on the last boss...(and by that, use the one heal I can tell I have that doesn't require the tank to click [filtered] on CD). What should I be doing in dungeons/group situations as a Mystic? I wanna be the very best I can be!

For now all you can do is spam the titanic favour and drop motes. You can also mention that the red motes heal since there might be new players who genuinely don't know that. Even if no one uses the motes you can still use them yourself. If your dps still manages to die you can chalk it up as stupidity. Tanks can be harder to keep alive if they don't even try to defend themselves. You can ask them to play more defensively as you are running out of heals but if that does not work all you can do is spam heals and hope for the best.
In the end the people are responsible for their own survival. It's our job to keep the party running but we do have limits to our healing. With enough experience you'll be able to tell when it was your fault and when it was the other party's fault. In the majority of the cases it's not yours.
That said there usually is something you could have done better. Maybe you could have dropped more motes while the titanic favour was on cooldown (you can throw them further if you hold down the key) or you could have positioned yourself better or you could have thrown mana motes for the brawler that ran out and couldn't block or you could have pre-emptively locked the titanic favour when you saw the telegraphing or something. Find out what it is and you'll improve.
-protect yourself, then the tank, then the DPS.
-you can't always be a hero; don't sacrifice yourself to save someone else
-there will always be people that blame you for their death (whether it was your fault or not). Get used to this now.
I'm woefully unfamiliar with Mystic glyphs, but I'm willing to bet there's at least one that might help your current situation.
Good luck, follow the healer code and you'll be great!
There's a healer code?
And I've healed in other MMOs, so I've got the basics of being blamed for everything down.
If that isn't enough.....then trust me, it's not going to be your fault.
Yes, at low levels we are stuck with the one heal and the 'Healer' role isnt particularly great. but it gets better as you level.
basically the best advice is to level up, unlock more skills...figure out your own play style for never taking dmg from a mob when one on one, then apply that to team play...sleep and stun give good time to throw out heals and motes, reposition yourself and continue.
the only other thing you can do is know that your attacks are 18m range limit, but heal is 24m...so stay completely out of combat be a dedicated healer with the one heal, and run in occasionally to drop a few motes....but if you end up playing like that, well..you may as well roll a priest
its much more fun end game, and to be honest...the hardest thing about being a healer 'class', isnt the mobs...its dealing with other players who just don't understand exactly what it is we do.
(played brawler/lancer for years....and tbh, in most dungeons im suprised if i get directly healed once..but i dont moan about it, i go in prepared to self heal as much as possible because that takes pressure off the healers, who can use the time to debuff/stun etc..and i watch for stuns and sleeps so i can pull my attacks, heal if necessary and have everything off CD.)
If they decide to facetank and don't care what attacks hit them or not...it's their own fault if they die really, you're not a babysitter whose there to hold someone's hand.
Basically what hapenny already said. My healer code is something like this:
- Don't die
- Support your team's vital signs (health, mana, life)
- Always maintain your support skills (mystic auras, priest buffs/triple nem/energy stars, etc)
- Leave no player behind (regardless of how stupid they are)
- Always be best friends with your tank
- Even if it wasn't your fault, consider how their death might have been avoided*
*Sometimes I pre-lock heals before a big attack because at least one person is almost always guaranteed to get it, or I hit cleanse right before an attack for similar reasons. As someone smart said in a different thread, "be proactive instead of reactive" and everyone will want you to be their healer.
This means that members with higher-levels will have more HP, and even more from better gear. So my advice would be is to try and get the best weapon you can get for your level, it does not have to be enchanted entirely unless you want to boost your DPS - it does not affect healing if you decide to enchant your weapon.
As you level up, you'll have more base heals on your healing skills and I recommend that you keep trying to get a better weapon when you're level is eligible for the next one. You'll definitely notice a difference as you level up, and it'll become easier to heal until the next dungeon.
To make it easier for you as a healer, here is some tips and tricks:-
*Glyph Titanic Favour - multiple lock-on and increased ranged, which will make it easier to heal others at the same time.
*You can move your crosshair by holding shift + [arrow key], I have mine set up at shift + [up x 3] which gives me a better camera angle and area.
*Change your FOV - Changing you FOV means that you can see more of your environment, here is a guide on how to change it: https://tera-forums.enmasse.com/forums/general-discussion/topics/Change-your-FOV-people-
*As well as FOV, you can change your zoom settings and camera speed.
*Patterns and predictions - Having a tank-like mentality can aid in swift healing, and because Titanic Favor has such a short cooldown, you're in no danger if you mispredict something so try and experiment.
