Console player just asking a few questions...
Hello everybody! I'm actually a PS4 player with some friends (we've actually suspended our FF14) and I would like to know more about some end-game foundamentals (we're kinda hardcore). We've seen some video and read some posts but we still don't complete the puzzle.
How End-game statics/parties are exactly formed? (We've seen many comps so we wish to know the more updated one)
Which classes are the most team based utility?
There are some "must have" classes in a static? How about crafting?
I'm actually the tank of the team and I'd like to know your opinion about the Brawler compared to the Lancer/any other tank, is she worth it? I've read that Brawler has been considered a dps as well, how much is the truth?
Dps wise, we would like to run with a Reaper and a Gunner, any opinion here?
I've seen many statics running with both Mystic and Priest, how exactly this differ from solo heal?
Any tips for abbreviations ..? (Linda lost here)
Which dungeons/raids are to prioritize, and with which iLvl is recommended?
I know... too many questions
Edit: We're a PvE static, we might switch to PvP once we have accomplished end game goals, and fully comprehended the game :awesome:

Well, it depends on what you want in a party. Parties are usually 1 tank 3 dps and 1 healer or 1 tank 2 dps and 2 healers.
Which classes are the most team based utility?
Lancer: Gives a lot of party support. 12% endurance debuff, a buff that gives the party power and endurance. Can also buff the party with Increased attack speed by 20% and increased damage to monsters by 5% etc.
Brawler: 8% endurance debuff and tons of CC mob control. Their pretty much dps tanks lol
Warrior: 8% endurance debuff
Ninja: Has an iframe everyone can use as long as they're in the skill. Very useful for oh s#!t moments or to skip forced mechanics
Archer: Has a lot of slows and aoe stuns(good for leveling)
Mystic: Are able to drop mana/healing motos (only healing motos can cleanse certain debuffs) 10% more endurance for the party, 9% endurance debuff, 5% endurance, large aoe healing totem that gives a tiny hp shield, buff that increases crit factor by x2.1 power by 40 and 6% attack speed. Crit resist buff by 40% and others too much to list
Priest: Gives a buff that increases Non combat movement speed by 10 and power by 25, very strong shield that can withstand 39k damage can also glyph it to recover 5% hp every 2 seconds for 6 seconds, buff that increases endurance by 11 and all resistances by 5 with 73 hp recover every 2 seconds for 15mins, 10% endurance rebuff, buff that increases power by 40 and attack speed by 8. and huge aoe burst heals. Of course there's more but too much to list.
Must have classes?
The only must have is a tank or healer lol
How about crafting?
Crafting is kinda bad unfortunately. But you can still make some serious money doing it obviously.
I've read that Brawler has been considered a dps as well, how much is the truth?
Yes, it's true they get most of their aggro from doing mass amount of damage.
Dps wise, we would like to run with a Reaper and a Gunner, any opinion here?
To be honest I think reapers can do a crap ton of damage if played right. Gunners not so much but I've seen a Gunner from Ktera doing some work.
I've seen many statics running with both Mystic and Priest, how exactly this differ from solo heal?
It's usually for the extra buffs, some boss mechanics and because they are bad.(joking
Any tips for abbreviations ..?
Here's a post list of abbreviations:
https://www.reddit.com/r/TeraOnline/comments/37qs35/new_to_tera_what_are_some_words_specific_to_the/
Which dungeons/raids are to prioritize?
First you want to get all your glyphs so doing Sabex Armory lvl 60 302ilvl and Macellarius Catacombs lvl 63 309ilvl
Low tier dungeons:
Now once you got +12 slaughter gear it's time to move on the the next tier.
Mid tier dungeons:
Now you have +12 Guile on most things time to move on to the next tier.
These dungeons drop end game crafting materials for the best gear
High tier dungeons:
Now for the raid Harrowhold (30man raid)
Would recommend having at least +12 Guild gear to attempt this.
About abbreviations just the classes, I think that dungeons and chat wise we would be able to learn 'em ingame.
I'm doing down here a fast recap, just to see some concepts that can be discussed more.
Team comp is pretty clear 1 tank, 2/3 dps, 1/2 healer, depends on the team exigencies.
Tank-wise: Lancer hold aggro easier and does less dps, utility wise it's better, Brawler then keeps aggro with dps and has a less impact on party's dps, am I right?
Dps-wise: every dps is kinda viable, Gunner only don't shine at any levels. So there are any "top dps list"? (dummy 3 min dps I mean)
Does any dps has team buffs?
Yes, that's how it works. You also have Berserker and Warrior that can tank or dps. Warrior has high dps as well, while also having more iframes than the other 3 and good mobility. Berserker has high aggro generation and their block costs no resource.
The state of any dps class varies from time to time. Gunner and Slayer are receiving buffs patch after patch to catch them up. Currently for the top DPS it would be Warrior, Sorc, Ninja and Archer. Archer is the better DPS for a lower budget.
DPS had their team buffs removed. The only form of utility dps have is their cc anytime cc is needed. Any other buffs or utility a dps has are for themselves.
Except for the new lunar dancer class that's coming next month? Saw a lvl 65 skill that gave party members a buff in the fan-translated KTERA patch notes. Any idea what that's about, Yamazuki?
Like Yama said, Archer and Warrior are the latest re-vamped classes and are on average the highest dmg dealing classes. Sorcerers are next.
You can get pretty far pretty fast by bandwagoning on any of the latest flavor-of-the-month classes, which can change roughly on a 4 to 6-month cycle of both major and minor balance patches. It's not always a bad thing. So I would suggest your DPS friends make one of these classes, unless they absolutely despise the playstyle.
Keep in mind these DPS suggestions are in a PVE perspective only. PVP tiers are completely different, and depend on whether you're talking about 1v1, small scale, or mass PVP.
I'm gonna play Brawler for sure now, as far as we manage our rotations and dps... anyway after your explanation I'm gonna have Lancer as a secondary anyway, sometimes we may need a more "team oriented tank".
My DPS friends changed their minds choosing Sorcerer and Ninja just yesterday.
Just to be sure, is there any low ping classes? (Ex: FF14 ninja) I'm not sure where consoles server will be located and we'd like not having frustrations with server lag.
What's your opinion on Lunar Dancer/Valkirye? Is that strong? I might have fun with a dps like that in future :awesome:
That said, I'd guess that the biggest challenge won't necessarily be with differences in classes, and will have more to do with using a PS4 instead of a mouse/keyboard. Play something that you'll enjoy, not something that you think will give you a mediocre advantage in some dungeons.
Archer and Gunner are probably the most ping dependent due to how Rapid Fire and Burst Fire function. Other classes like Brawler, Lancer, Slayer, and Ninja run into some issues with ping since they all slow down and have their own set of de-sync problems. Although, I personally play with 120~200 ping on a wireless connection and I do fine even for end-game content.
Valk will be strong, new classes and revamps usually are but they don't always stay that way. Gunner while one of the weakest was at one point at the top at release for instance.
Personally i preffer Gunner for ranged, they said he is "nothing special" but every time i party with one, they make insane damage (Yesterday, on Channerwork, a gunner make 9kkk damage with a single skill to last boss).
Warrior is excelent while creating EDGE for make the rest of the Dps make more damage, and right now they are one of the most dps class
Berserker: In my experience, the anti-mob by excelence class. THe HARD hitting big blows, slow, but very very good. Have some skills for crowd control hitting VERY HARD to a lot of mobs at same time like Cyclone and TS (His main skills). It is a HARD class to master, but if someone get good at it, is excelent for pvp too... Can Knockdown lock some one very easy and its really fun ONE SHOT peopple
ANd rangeds, very good for crowd control , to assist the zerker in that... Many times in most dungeons there is parts with 20+ little annoying mobs (some of them hit hard) and ranged class, along with zerker (Slayer too) are nice to kill em fast. Your tank can lock them togheter and boom, rangeds and zerker make big hits to kill all fast.
Sorry english
The last mob after the boss dies is easy to cap damage, and you are most likely lying if it is the actual boss, because 9 billion damage is impossible to get on any class in CW, and 9 million damage on a single hit is actually considered low lol.
CW has a buff that gives you high damage, and 9 mil is low. Meteors from Sorc does that much damage in a normal dungeon, Archer can do 20mil+ with TB in a normal instance as well. Sycthe on Warrior can easily hit a high amount too.
Tera lacks any practice systems unfortunately. Your only option to just try rotations is IOD bams if you aren't geared or going to the last boss in Demokron's Factory since it doesn't move.
A player known as Thoughtbound addresses this in a video: many MMOs - TERA included - treat the leveling process as a glorified tutorial, which or course doesn't work for some classes since they don't get they're best attacks until literally the level cap (warriors and slayers immediately come to mind).
