Warrior = Intimidating?

All of the info I see on warriors usually talks about how complex the class is.

However, I usually buy into the duel wielding class in MMOs and really want to give it a shot. I am by no means a great Tera player and have only cleared the end game dungeons a hand full of times due to always quitting and coming back.

Is the Warrior class that hard to play at decent level? Or is it just min maxing that last bit of top tier damage that is the complex part.

  • Tried to edit my post.

I forgot to ask if there is a preferred class for warrior or one that has a blatant edge. ie. Elin Sorceror
  • Warrior is easy to play, just like all other classes. You need to get used to an optimal rotation. It's the easiest class to survive with. For PvE your race won't matter ;)

Warrior is hard because of the rotation. You need strong rotation to make edge fast, to break edge fast. That is why warrior is looked into as a hard class. You mess up, you get cc, you will lose edge, so you will lose a lotta dps. That is why Warrior has all those iframes and Death from above skill, to keep you on the target and keeping your edge up.

Gladly after revamp, all the effort is rewarding. If you want a class, I recommend Female Casta War. For pvp wise you can go for Elin/Popo also.
  • IN my experience, is the most easy class to play.
Specially is u re bad. He can save your like many times with his constant iframes.
Has a very good dps too. You must only adjust well tour rotation in base of Edge.

For PvP i love it too. Can be the most annoying class to try to kill :p
  • I don't know why people say Warrior is easy to play. yeah it's easy to like 'play' until you see that your DPS is absolutely garbage. It's definitively a class that requires getting used to and practice to be decent at. Or you can end up competing with the tank for DPS.

I like to think of the Warrior as a muscle memory class vs a rotation class especially it plays more like an If-then statement. But it's not a particularly difficult class it just feels mechanical.

exactly, many players end up getting kicked, even w/o dps you could say they are messing up the rotation.

It's easy because you can survive easily and do some damage at least without dying mid cast.
It's hard because getting actually good at it is yet another story compared to just surviving. Also it used to be quite ping dependent on some chains, don't know if the revamp added some command queue to it, fixing that dependency.
  • Its still very ping sensitive. Low ping warriors can put up godlike numbers and have insane ability to skill cancel and minimize animation locks. But yea your gonna be hot garbage even with all the revamps and fixes if you don't understand that warrior is a completely situations class when it comes to rotation priority. Then this is build objective and playstyle.... lelz

    tl;dl

It's the most powerful and hardest to master class atm.
  • I have seen a lot of people that moved to the bandwagon revamp now selling their warrior vm8 weapons, the reason, no matter how many iframes you have if you don't pull effective rotation based on what happened with your skills( chains, BD resets, Cooldowns, DG) your damage going to be bad. It's complex because everything you do could change your rotation path to get 10 edge.

It is for sure the class that requires the most constant skill management with such extremely fast paced gameplay, but if you master it, it feels really satisfying to play, otherwise you would feel like a dumbass because you can't beat dead classes while playing the supposed FOTM.

Just like any class, its easy to pickup and takes time to master. :expressionless:

It's not that bad, just look up guides and you'll have a general idea of how to play it

as I've always sucked at warrior (except Kumasylum candy carrier, damn I rocked that), 180ms ping seems bad for it but... Is warrior somehow flexible to your rotation, or really locked down to it? Like I can't do proper damage without this specific chain sequence or can I just adapt it and swap skills around based on what I have out of cooldown?

i personally do not follow a set rotation for warrior. I prioritize my chains based on situation and use the 'best' chain I have off cd at the time.

Warrior atm is the hardest class to master. Yes, warriors have ton of iframes so they may seem easy (most people feel this way until they see their honestly trash dps) but there's no point if your dps sucks and you aren't contributing much to the pt.

edit: just go with your favourite race. Elins have better animations and Castanics have that 1% additional crit chance (although tbh that 1% REALLY isn't worth much). unless you're minmaxing, it won't matter that much.

Warrior isn't hard, it's just not "standard". Simply adding a stacking mechanic or a secondary resource bar that makes up a large portion of your damage makes the class less effective when it's played in a "standard" way because people don't focus on stacking or generating effectively. Then there's BD resets, and resets that make most of your damage also reduces effectiveness when played in a "standard" way. Stacking edge and paying attention to BD really isn't difficult, it's just something you'll do without thinking with enough experience if you actually try; the issue here is most people aren't really trying.
