Server stability when?

So...Today I'm not complaining about the terrible client optimization or the fact that my ping basically tripled after the zayo debacle. No, today I'm.. actually mostly just asking a question. Did instances always lag while the servers were lagging? Because I never remember the post-nexus raids having horrific server-sided lag like we get nowadays in rmhm and other instances when spacememes decides to fill highwatch with cocks (or, more importantly perhaps.. during CU and other instances of server lag) I'm not sure if this is an MT exclusive perk or if it happens on every server, but i'm really tired of it. My best guess (if my memory of lagless instances is accurate) is that when they upgraded the hardware, instances and servers stopped having separate hardware and now when the server lags, so do the instances..

Tldr; my question is: Have instances always lagged when the servers do? If not, why do they now?

Get a better ISP, that will solve most of your problems.

Did you.. actually read my post? I'm asking about server-sided lag. Where the entire server lags at the same time. My isp has absolutely no relation to that.

Get a better ISP, that will be your anwser becuase is at your end anyway.

Your crying is the same in almost all on-line games "Is not my internet, is the game server fault", that is what you read on LoL, WoW, CoD, FFXIV, DotA2 and many more on-line games forums.

So I recommend you to change ISP to one who will trac your path more eficient on the internet.

Not sure if you're trolling or if you just don't play the game, or if your server genuinely does not have the lag spikes i'm talking about.. When CU/rally/mongos/spawn events/elite reset/etc happens, the entire server has lag spikes at the same time. It's the actual server hardware lagging, not a network issue. I don't remember it ever happening inside instances prior to the hardware updates, and am inquiring further. Please stop talking if you have nothing to contribute :)

    It's your problem.

I have not issues at all today.

Have you ever made a trace route so you can see if it's really the server?

I doub it, so the first thing you should do is show us the trace route results before arguing something like that.

As I said you before, your post is like a copy paste from other forums games about lag issues, where players always argue that there is not their ISP problem and try to sell it as the game network server problem.

I was more wondering if/when the instances stopped being a different thing from open world, and why that was changed. There's plenty of network-related issues which actually are out of EME's hands, but the server hardware is one thing they are capable of addressing.

I'm sure that when 30 people all experience the same freeze while doing HH every week it's all because of our individual ISPs. It's not even HH anymore that will randomly spike and freeze I (as well as my whole group) experience it in RMHM etc. I'll admit my ISP is currently providing me a terrible connection to mostly everything but if my whole group is experiencing the same issues at the same time, switching my ISP won't help.

You even have tools that help you to see where the problem is present, so I must add that ppl are also lazy to use them and only think "If I and my friends have the same issue then is the game server fault.

As I said before, Why don't you show us your trace routes test before jumping on that conclusion?

On very rare occasions, I have seen the server have an issue. And by rare I mean once a month or less. There was a thread recently with a similar complaint, and after god counterpoint offered help with traceroutes, we found out the user was using a shared DSL connection on a potato laptop and simultaneously trying to stream; a recipe for disaster IMO.

Not saying you're doing this, but in so many words I'm with ElinUsagi...I don't experience the "lag" you're referring to.

Dungeon server is a different server than main servers. That is the reason wh lot lagged so hrad during double drop. But the main server is ok.

Then I don't know if it's an issue limited to MT, but we get this lag quite regularly. During CU at the very least, but usually more frequently than that. Entire server lags at once, and it's not my end when global explodes with "LAAAAG!"

I know what you're talking about. It's when server events happen like CU, Dreamstorm, Elite Reset, and even Rally can cause it. Unfortunately this type of lag has been around since nexus so I'm not sure there's a way for Eme to resolve it. If you want eme to investigate a certain event you'd need a group of people to submit a ticket with their location, trace route, time it happened, and any other details you can think to add so it narrows down what/when to check and proves that it's not isp or a node with traffic issues.

    When HH takes a hike.

Daily reminder: HH will be reduced to 20-man raid instead of 30 with a TBA patch in the future. (Google for KTera patch notes, it's in there somewhere.)
