Will console release offer changes to PC?

As in will the game engine get any refinements to run better or are they being kept totally separate?

I love this game, the only reason I'm not playing it is because it stutters like mad on my computer.

En Masse said they will consider it, but as of this moment they will keep both console and PC versions different from each other. It could be possible that if there is high demand for this change, we could see in in the far future... but since we barely know anything about the console's release, we will just have to wait and see what happens.

That's the hope, as the game will have to be re-purposed of sorts in order to function properly on consoles.

If nothing else, imagine the crapstorm that would pass if it turns out that the console version runs better than on a $1500 PC...
  • Actually the MS console version is easily compat with pc, it's the PS that needs the work. But with MS and Sony teaming up on projects it is possible to see a cross platform of Tera and many other games. MS already does it with there systems and games.
  • Probably will at first, if only because the console version only has to work with one hardware setup per console (PS4, XBOne), rather than be compatible with numerous ones. PCs have far more capability, and higher performance, but also have a lot of processes running in the background to tie up resources.

If you know what you're doing and how to tweak PC performance, then the PC version will shoot the console version out of the water, tho.
  • I'm a console player and Tera is the only game I play on pc. I have been playing Tear with a controller since I started. Tera's pc version will not work well with console's mechanics, considering the amount of skills each class offers and quick trigger required to activate each skill quick to save party members or heal or even stun. The only way I can think of to fix this issue is to revamp the skills chain to allow players to quickly use their skills or even allow skills chains to have different triggers and each trigger allows different chains. For example lets say ur a brawler and u are in HM dungeon, the skills that needs to be used are rampage and gp and roundhouse kick followed by either jackhammer or haymaker also counterpunch when u block, but if ur hp is low and need to heal ur self I find myself scrambling with my buttons to reach my Invigorating Rage. If tera made a trigger like block and look left or something like that to trigger special chain that would be great.

After about 5 years - I don't see TERA getting any performance fixes. The console versions will most likely look like dookey.

hardware wise, they'll definitely need to make a more multi-threaded game engine, and offload the weird CPU drains/hogs that the game engine has. If that's solved, the game will run butter smooth with full graphics on Full HD for sure on any of the consoles, AND PC. It's not a really GPU intensive game, and the consoles do have enough power for it.
I don't see the skills on controller as an issue at all (Also controller player since start here, on all classes so I know how it feels), but the only thing I still wonder is how they'll deal with chat and interface.
The analog stick as a mouse pointer + press stick for click just won't do it for prolonged interface usage. Too slow and annoying.
