Server choice, need help.

Heya, me and a friend of mine would start playing this game and were interested in which server would you guys recommend, things to consider:

1. We are from EU (we played tera there so we are not new to the game, just new to US) so a server with a larger EU playerbase due to timezones is a plus.
2. We are interested in pve only, and prefer a non-pvp server as we hate griefers
3. We do not have extreme amount of time to devote to the game, but we do enjoy hardcore content, which contradicts one another in a grind-oriented game like TERA. A server with a lower "entry" requirement in terms of less elitist pugs but still good people in "non pugs" would be ideal. I've read a post on server recommendations, what I concluded is that MT and TR are both super elitist whilst CH and AV are more friendly and casual, with issues being that they are also low/bad skill wise and thus unable to actually complete harder content (which is their downside). We are generally not casuals but I do not think that with the amount of time we have we will be able to keep up with the pace of people that are try-harding in this game. The post however is quite old and I assume outdated:
http://tera-forums.enmasse.com/forums/player-guides/topics/Guide-to-picking-the-right-guildserver-
4. Generally aiming to have endtier-1 easily and then spend time grinding the endtier as per ussual but with no stress or rushing it is our goal.

P.S. If the post I linked was to hold true I'd say TR (with a good guild that will help) or CH/AV would be a good place for us but im worried about 2 much casual approach on the later two mentioned.

Thanks for recommendations!

    Because Dhrizzit its there
and because we have PVP, and there are too the masters of the masters of the PVE
Whisp Koniginni in game for more info, also if you join to his guild, him can lvl up you to lvl 30 y 40 minutes
    thats awesome.

Well I mean I specifically stated that we'd like to avoid PvP.
  • Dhrizzit, I thought you quit TERA and gave away all your gold and valuables?

we have both things, also when you get bored of PVE, sometimes u want a bit of pvp, so you dont have to transfer your character

here you dont have pks, also, all the game its safe, no one kill the others, its very rare

they are focused in pvp in civil unrest, something you never gonna go if you dont want

    and gvg battles are dead

    so

this game its safer than others, better be a in server with all the things, than get top in one limited server

thats how i think, because my first server was a PVE server, and now im a in pvp server.

I can still PvP in like battlegrounds/arenas on a PvE server right? The only thing that is not doable is world pvp if I understand correctly, and I don't want any of that world pvp bullshiez
  • All of the servers now, including the PvP ones, prevent griefing entirely before level 65, and "practically" prevent it at level 65 as well given most of the areas you will go at level 65 are safe zones. You'd basically have to purposefully go out into the non-safe-zone areas to find PvP.

But aside this, I tend to think you're right that TR with a good guild is probably a good fit for your criteria.

Well that post is right if you just check how many end-game content clear each server does weekly.
Harrowhold is a weekly resetting 30 man dungeon considered as the hardest content in-game which has 4 phases, phase 4 being the hardest. So it is a nice idicator of the real end-game population.

MT has the highest amount of p4 clearing raids (around 20?), next is TR with weekly 13-14 clears, CH and AV has less than 2-3 weekly afaik, FF cleared the first time last week when the content is out for 17 weeks now and was carried by MT transfers.

You can draw a conclusion from that i think.

I'd say TR is pretty laid-back but also hardcore enough to clear all the content. Also seem to be quite some EU players on TR, I don't know about the other servers.

Where can i see this info o.0 Is there any other indicators like this, is a great info.

Listen to everyone else but Dhrizzit, he's nothing but trouble.

Since you prefer a PvE server, TR seems like a fit for you. MT is best server full of best players than any other server but does have open world PvP where if you don't enjoy ganking in open world events, then it's not for you.

You say elitist on specific server but that's what you are going to come across with server with higher population. More people = higher chance to meet cesspool amount of players, but at the same time a higher population can result in finding more positive minded player who enjoys pushing their limits as well. Higher populated server can result in having more variety of stuff on the broker as well, especially costumes.

Not too interested in costumes honestly, interested in having fun with some PvE. I know that we will not be able to chase down the highest of the highest because of the sheer lack of time needed to keep up with the fast pace of gearing that veterans have. But still consider ourselves above average players and would like to push some sort of hard content at least. Conflict arises when we end up on max level with no gear and elitist puggers not letting us get close to that content, this is my main concern really.

Dhrizzit is horrible and PvE! Loses aggro to people with PvP rolls!
  • MT or TR are both pretty into pve. PvP beside the small few is pretty much dead. And gearing really doesnt take that long honestly. But getting into Harrowhold runs this late can be tough. Since most groups farm it out for gold and profit. Getting VM8 isnt too difficult playing casually atleast 2 piece isnt. If youre good at the game u will be fine, if ur trying to learn just ask for learning runs or join a nice guild. But ya if u want to meet good players and high population MT and TR are your best options.

If you aren't interested in open world pvp and would only want arenas if you ever do decide to pvp then Tempest Reach would be fine.

Except that FF clear raid had 0 MT transfers. There's one clearing raid in FF as of now.
