To promote the new class and unlock group rewards for the upcoming weekend two weeks from now. It's not about earning a few scales and consumables...
I assume we'll get them all, just not right now. Earlier he said he'd give new codes at the end of the stream, but I doubt the problems will be fixed by then. We might have to wait until Monday.

unlocking prizes and item codes are what half the viewers want, i consider this a pretty big messup, and yes a few scales that could be saved for the valkyrie? yea its a big deal for a f2p/i dont have much time player, maybe not for you Mr.Whiteknight

...Just give them a chance to fix it. It's not like they're not aware of it.
But still, getting personal item codes for a few incidental items was never the point of the stream. If it were just about giving people free things, they could just post the codes on the forum in the first place and save themselves all the aggravation.
(Edit: Just in case it isn't clear, they confirmed on the stream that they are working on fixing the codes.)
It's in the same tradition as the 25-hour Stream of being more of a variety show. It raises awareness that the class is coming, but everyone can play it for themselves on Tuesday anyway. There are much better players out there if people just want to see someone showing off the new class in real gameplay the whole time.

I don't mind this one too much though as I have a crap ton xD
Some people like the variety show approach, and others don't, and it's fine. Watching a community manager solo-level a character for 10 hours isn't really going to be great viewing either, considering people will be able to just play it for themselves on Tuesday (or can already do so in other regions), and pro players have already shown off the new class extensively. So they mix it up with some silly things.
I think constructive criticism is fine, but some of this is really just the personality of the streamer/community manager.
