How difficult will it be to make gold if...

So as a bit of a backstory. I quit this game for short intervals quite frequently. I'm on AV atm and have 6 toons at lvl 65 (If any of you from AV remember Hanu, Saeli/Kindle. It's me). How I always made my gold before was simply logging on to each alt, and doing vanguard quests. Before the income nerfs I was easily making 45k daily off of the gold rewards and the supplies I would sell. Post-nerf, that number fell to something like 35k. Also should note I'm lazy and only logged onto 4 toons to do this stuff. Essentially ~8.7k per character.

My question, however, is how difficult would it be to make gold if I only had ONE alt? My plan is to move one character to TR, and then make my Valkyrie there (I usually always make a new class, save for Brawler. blegh). The way I see it, assuming prices for MWA, niveots and the like are the same, I'd basically only be making 17k doing my original routine. In my 3 years of playing Tera, I only ever made gold by doing dailies. What else could I do?

Any advice other than "play the broker" is constructive. I simply don't find flipping reliable. Simple as that.

Do BG's during power hour and sell the mats, their my daily income depends on how fast the mats sell but so far they sell pretty good
  • I'm sitting on millions of gold without spamming dailies on alt, without playing broker and without doing any fancy stuff. And I have 4 characters with at least +15 Behemoth weapon, so it's not like I don't spend gold.

All I do is just run end-game content, start running early, preferably learning it on the first week. And just consistently run it. This patch Harrowhold was literally a mine of gold (That's why I have so many alts, to run more HH), not counting how expensive designs were in the first month. If you play the game you'll make gold. Or you can just slave away at dailies.

If you don't find the only method of earning gold in a considerable amount as reliable, then you've already done the math on what you're going to be earning. Either play broker for gold, don't care about gold and enjoy the game and get gold as you go, or sell emp. I never understood people doing dailies like slave bots for gold for hours and hours when minimum wage pays magnitudes more : ?

You are correct. And I almost entirely agree with your mindset. However in my case, and many others, I'm sure, Up until about a week ago I was a jobless basement dweller. No money to spend. I scrounged up $15 however I could to pay for elite, and used Elite to get more out of my dailies. I've never been rich, nor have I been close. Most I've ever had on-hand at any given moment was 600k, half of which was borrowed, to buy my Imperator Shuriken design.

Now? Yeah, since I have a job, I have money to blow. I was more looking for examples outside of EMP or flipping. I'm quite knowledgeable on most things, but everyone has something to learn.

may I make this into a flaming thread (as I've seen part of the drama hehe) and mention that Fellow is also always buying EMP at fair rates (by fair I mean bulk EMP on not much less than market average, if not directly average).

EMP is always a solid market, but yeah if your intention is to have fun at the game earning money there, it kinda defeats the purpose, becoming more of a real money to gold trade (legally) than earning it in game.
But sure it's a good way to get lots of gold in game, EMP is always in demand.

These 2 guys (Fellow and Kamizuma) are from AV so if you go that route, you already have 2 sure clients + all the random players that want cute costumes... like me!

My own POV goes like this:

What do you want to achieve out of your own play in TERA? Be rich? Have BiS? Clear all content? Unlike other MMOs and especially in this server, it is possible to clear all content without relying on the broker extensively. I don't even make raw gold in game. Most of my dailies are cleared only because I have guild quests to do. And usually I don't even clear my dailies now that I only play 2 days a week at max since last year.

I dare say I relied on events to live (without events I am essentially playing Tera on hard mode already), with their prices plummeting I took the chance to buy out mats. I don't see any point in spending too much on costumes since I work within my budget all the time.

Time and again I mentioned that alt dailies isn't the most efficient way to make gold due to its value dropping on each day. Every single time a mongos/kyra's catalyst event comes I am proven right. Dailies is also ironically the fastest way to induce burnout when played on multiple alts. When TAR was a thing for example was so boring I basically fall asleep even on one character (I stopped trying to go that route after 2 days). HH has been mentioned which is less boring than mindless IoD yet giving more rewards than what you can earn with dailies.

Unless you are relying on gold to buy out your gear (aka the lazy way out), gold is pretty much worthless other than probably getting cosmetics, or making you feel good as you sit on top of a mountain of gold. I don't know about you but I personally feel uncomfortable holding on too much gold just to buy gear in a game which doesn't force you (unlike other games where you pretty much need the market to even move one step towards endgame)
