More precisely, the fact they all give the gear tokens now, is it a permanent change, or was that just for the levelling up event, trying to help out a bit? Because I think it's a welcome change, since now we're not stuck with 8 missions a day and can continue gearing.

    It's perma. It still won't change much end-game wise, but yea for lvling it's a good thing.
