Elite not giving 100% XP boost while leveling Valkyrie

Hi,

as it says in the topic, elite while being active didn't give me the usual XP boost. I did however get the extra XP for monsters from the reward system. At some point close to the deadline I got half the elite XP for a short while.

Did this happen to anyone else? Did I miss an announcement where it says elite won't be giving the XP bonus in the first 24 hours?

Would appreciate it if I could get feedback on this from the playerbase, before filing a ticket. Thanks!

The Elite XP boost happens "invisibly" in the game, and you won't see it called out in any way in the logs.

What you are mentioning ("half Elite XP") is actually Rested XP, which shows up in blue in your combat logs. This will be half of the normal XP amount because your base XP is already double the base. But rested XP only lasts a short while, if your character is rested.

    100 Base XP
    100 Elite XP
    ----
200 XP (shows up in white text)

+100 Rested XP (shows up in blue text, 100% of base)

+% TERA Rewards XP (shows up in yellow text, depending on your reward tier).

So, in other words, it does work, you just can't easily see it called out as you might think/expect it should be.

Well, so far for me it displayed like this, whenever I killed any monsters: normal xp (+ same amount elite XP) (+ % due to reward tier).
Unless this was changed this very patch, the (+ same amount elite XP) has been missing, and what's even more odd is that for an hour or so I got (+50% elite XP).
I'm not talking about the small XP bar on the bottom of the screen (which includes rested XP) here.

Most of the time I was also leveling together with my guildies, especially at the start, and I only leveled slighty faster than them. With elite + reward tier I should've gotten 250% XP, so the difference should've been really notable before entering BoL for the first time, which it definitely was not.

Nah, what you're talking about is actually Rested XP, not Elite XP. That's why you saw it for the first hour or so (when you had rested XP stored on that character). It wasn't 50% Elite XP, it was 100% Rested XP (100% of Base, which is 50% of your Elite-doubled number).

The display of XP has been the same way ever since they added Elite and XP Boost Scrolls (which work the same way). It's never been called out separately in the chat log.

For me it always has always been seperate in the chat log. Also I can't have possibly gotten any rested XP on a character I was online with all the time until level 38 or so. (Rested XP only apply when you log out in a town or village after all.)

I will +1 you becuase I also remember that logs happen to show you the xp earned separatly for each boost you have.

Well, I'm not saying you're both wrong, but I've never seen this in all the years I've played the game, or in any region/account I've tested, and I don't see any option in any accessible setting to change this. So if there's a way to do this... I have no idea what it is. I've always seen Elite XP and Event XP built into the base.

Sometimes you could see the numbers separately on top of the actual character you kill but not in the log. At least for me, anyway...

I am not saying that you are wrong either.

I have played this game since several years ago and I do remember that I saw those numbers on log chat and if the OP hasn't bhrought this I would never notice that these don't show anymore. It could be something from way too long before this patch.

Hmmm yeah, it may have been the case years ago and I just forgot -- that's true. But the OP implies it was recent, and even happened randomly while leveling? Well, who knows...

Elite XP is issued by the server in any case, so it should have always been applied...

Edit: A kind soul mentioned this might have changed when Elite Boosts changed from being on the bar to being applied universally, which is quite possible. I may have just forgotten those "dark times" of having to constantly use your buffs by hand lol.
  • Is this the first class release where a double XP event was not going? I noticed the slower leveling too even with elite, I think that might be it.

That is true. I think this is the first new class launch that didn't have server-wide Double XP (or at least, the first new class that started at level 1). There will be a double XP weekend two weekends from now, but they didn't do it at launch this time.

That being said, on some of those earlier class launches they didn't have TERA Rewards yet either, and people who are ranked up in that can get a lot more than 3x XP in practice. BuddyUp is also another factor that I don't think was always there.

It was one of the prizes from the Glaiveathon this past Friday/Saturday. They said it'd happen the weekend of 21-25 April, along with Triple Drop and some other events. I think they should post the details in a news post soon.

This is so easy to test out, create a new account with no elite and kill a BAM... Then kill the same BAM with the account that has Elite. :expressionless:

If you only did quests, it's no wonder. You don't get 50% extra on quest xp, that boost applies to kills, that's why people farm BAMs to level up fast.
