So I go to try and enchant my Valkarie Guile gear, and I only have about 3,000 gold. I decided to buy 128 Tier 10 alkahests to allow myself a total of 8 tries to enchant. The total cost of that was 1369 gold and 60 silver, almost half of my total amount of gold.

This is the situation every genuinly new player will face, and the solutions are essentially:

    - mindlessly grind boring "content" over and over again (up to the daily cap if you have that much free time) and play one-arm bandit machine; note that silly suggestions to sell what you grind usally don't apply - as you need a lot of what you're grinding for yourself in the first place
    - or, throw money at the cash shop and sell EMP in game
    - or, play broker (requires elite sub and patience in fishing good whales, then finding buyers in quite depopulated environment)

Isn't that the same with every MMO ¬.¬?

Usually I'd have said to get vanguard credits from vanguard requests and buy Masterwork Alkahest boxes, but considering their price is broken right now...

Actually most MMOs are all about getting the item period. So you run the dungeons over and over in hopes that the item you crave actually drops but once you have it you are golden and happy. Tera basically hands you all the items and you farm over and over to get the mats to make the item usable. It's a much different carrot in tera compared to most MMMORPGs.

Even with this being the case, the core concept (long grind to reach BiS equipment) is essentially the same. It's the basic underpinning of end-game in nearly all modern MMORPGs. The only real difference is how many other things there are to do that help to mask the time-sink or to vary it up.
  • On the other hand I am happy when extensive alka drops to normal alka's price level since those are more expansive before.
But I dont realize tha new players look at the same problem in an opposite way lol

Most Asian RPGs use a form of enchanting, it's most Western RPGs that do not... Although the West doesn't make many MMORPGs compared to Asia anyways. I remember when it was normal to break your gear, or any sort of item when you failed to "enchant" after certain points.

Before I switched to playing Tera 3 years ago, I used to play a game called Aika Online and enchanting your gear was safe to +3 and anything above that had a chance to fail and go down a level and anything after +6 you could break your gear.

I actually just gear enchant all the way to +9 lol.

Also you have to remember, that the only reason why alkahest prices are so low is because of mongos hyperdeflating the market. Extensives used to be 25-30g each, Premiums at 40-50.
