Changing FOV

for one reason or another, changing the FOV does give you an advantage over other players - you're seeing stuff sooner.

Now this goes into the case of modding the S1.engine file to fix performance issues with the game. If this is also bannable then a riot may be incoming, with plausible arguments this time.

these brave souls still using meter
  • Free to play game (yes I have invested some money) but I enjoyed the time played.
    I will await my ban.

I wish you guys would clarify on some things. Like the OP in this thread. Instead of just deleting and locking, people want answers and having community managers that won't answer is getting a little alarming.

They don't need to answer 30 times a day. They've said it multiple times before. Any modification is B A N N A B L E. Haerath giving tons of free BANanas to players to who just want to mind their own business and play this game.

Is changing your fov bannable now? I'd like to know since the default fov even at max zoom gives me motion sickness and i really dont want to have to quit over something as small as this

Pretty much EME's new policies are "If you have to ask, then yes, it is bannable". Meanwhile I remember either Tonka or Treeshark going on TR global back in the day and saying that usage of things like modifications or DPS meters were fine as long as you don't bother other players. Sad to see how low the new EME staff has dropped.

Sad to see how low the community had to stoop to force EME to respond.

It's pretty much this. It's the fact that scummy things were done, so blame the scummy players that tried to rip off the system tbh.

What has the community done though? 80% of the modifications out there are free and only serve to help players reduce ping delay and FPS. You know what's sad is that some of the current developers are almost done building a new UI overlay for TERA. You will then be abile to disable the [filtered] in-game UI and get double the FPS. It's sad that players who have the only intention of making this game better for others to play are getting banned for issues unrelated to their intentions.

well we don't actually know what specific things will be [caught] or [banned].

I am pretty sure these two things are related.
  • This will soon be closed for sure, but to answer your question:

Yes, changing FOV can be a basis for a ban. Technically speaking it IS modifying the client. If you take the recent announcement in black and white, word for word, this is a bannable "offense".
