What's your favorite Hardmode dungeon?

Which do you think was the most difficult? I personally feel SCHM has been the hardest to clear for me and some friends I ran with, just because it's many mechanics and things to dodge. MCHM was fun of course but I don't feel like it gave me as much anxiety as SCHM did. Lastly SSHM, BHS did a pretty good job with this one (finally) the mechanics are nice, bosses hit a bit hard but that's alright!

SCh - I think SCHM was difficult for A LOT of people to clear (considering the first group NA to clear it, took a few days to complete). I believe it was the first time we were introduced to the swipe mechanic, aka the one we have on Imperator boss in SS today. Also the ghost mechanic, which took my group a while to understand and be able to execute correctly. The second boss, Perimos was also difficult as well. With it's having to dodge lasers or take them so Peri wouldn't be able to destroy the crystals, causing a wipe. However Darkan stole the show with his ridiculous cage, hard hitting attacks, and fire on both sides of the ship. By far my favorite dungeon. Pre-nerf of course!

MCh - Obviously the OG of all hardmodes. Back in the day when people would actually complain about a dungeon being too difficult to clear. Nevertheless MCHM was a very fun dungeon, even from cocoon phase to the actual Shandra Manaya. The debuff mechanic is probably my favorite to do, as anyone can mess it up and ruin it for the whole party. Definitely a fan favorite dungeon.

SSh - Haven't done this dungeon yet, but from what I've seen on streams, and the rage I've heard from my own discord, the 3rd boss in here is nothing to toy with. His mega fast attacks and almost one-shot mechanics are enough to make me wanna quit on it's own. But the cage mechanic is definitely not something to mess around with. Also the mobs that must be killed before they turn into Demokrons, shooting [filtered] that hurt a lot. Not to mention the shield phase that if not broken will cause a party member to be impaled, slung into another member, and kill them both. I can definitely see this dungeon being another favorite.

So what about you all, what's your favorite hardmode? Tbh it doesn't even have to be one of these hardmodes, just talk about any challenging dungeon you've enjoyed/raged at the most!

EDIT: Changed title so choices don't have to be limited to just these 3 dungeons :).

  • TSHM Yana and the rng wipe could be the most annoying encounter ever.
  • Oh yeah that was annoying lol. I think the dragon should've been the last boss in that dungeon though tbh.
  • It seems the final boss of each dungeon is a unique bam so I'm cool with Yana being last
  • Oh yeah, we haven't gotten a dungeon with all new bams since SCHM..

Gotta go with the classic MCHM. The Plexus is beautiful, all the other hard mode dungeons pale in comparison to it. And it was actually worth while to run, drops wise, when you could sell and split regent stuff. And as a healer, I can't believe I'm saying this, I even miss the cocoon phase and having to kite mobs and then line up the gullets, trying to multitask between demounting to heal, cleanse, estars and then mounting again to kite... and the first time healing myself through a failed debuff wave was exhilarating. And since we had MCHM so long people started getting creative with it, we learned how to double debuff with two people, KTera brought us the first duo MCHM run, etc. Long live the Queen.

Lol luckily I never had to heal for that phase. & yeah the Plexus was very beautiful, Darkan's ship was pretty cool looking but the Plexus definitely had much more detail too it, pretty colors as well.

From those three SCHM, and by far.

SSHM's 3rd boss is heavy on rng side, so low-iframe classes need time to adjust it. 2nd boss is pushover, 1st boss is small dps race.

All bosses can be fully 100% tanked on warrior in slaughter gear (assuming proper rolls, not 8% hp nonsense). I can even survive large slams with -50% reduction skills. Imagine tanking real SCHM's perimos when he enraged =)
  • I remember doing MCHM with a party in full devas gear, as I wanted to complete my story quest for Argons (never bothered with it since it hit 60 during WH patch as it was outdated), before we got to 65 and we'd be even more OP. And it did not let down, because even with super duper gear, Manaya had these killer mechanics that killed half of my party. Only my zerker and healer had done this multiple times in the days of the Argon patch.

SSHM - has a lot of HK mechs (cage, red baIIs, swipe, multi-atack, double AoE, debuf inside cage wich revert all mechanic, shield...), even normal atacks hurts a lot, so i think is the hardest dungeon so far, mainly for those classes which have only 1 iframe, and the caster speed of cage pattern it's almost impossible for those wich have +100 ping

Seems to me Darkan always be the King as Manay the Queen.

P.S. Dear BHS cut with RNG things for the love of Sky Whale

Did you actually play when MCHM was released here? At launch(pre nerfs) there was no MCnm to help learn and considering game was rather new, meaning less experienced players, and had less glyphs(that greatly help now)/crit rate/damage/op classes/no goddess/neo rez/no ccb etc. etc., it was never as easy to clear as any of the newer HM's.

Also, I believe if Tera released its content in every region at the same time it would take weeks for people to actually clear some HM's here, having that huge advantage with KTera ahead to prep/learn takes away alot of the challenge imo.

I'm gunna go with MCHM, but honestly, how come KNXX isn't in this list? It was very difficult if your raid had very little cooperation. Most things were one-shots, it took a very long time to prepare, and even after doing so much preparation, getting everyone onto a voip, and cooperating decently, clearing wasn't guaranteed.

What rng about 3rd boss? Compared to SCHM i don't see it has more RNG than Darkan.

  • I'd still say MCHM>SSHM>SCHM without taking out the bias of the gear

    SCHM > MCHM > SSHM.

and did someone mention KDHM? lol hopefully that was a joke
