You all need to stop, there's no discussion when the words "cheat", "modification" and so on are involved. Please just stop.
And it doesnt matter if affects another player or not, there are rules that were written and accepted when you start playing this game; deal with them.
    "2+2 = 4" - "NO! 2+2 = 5". I mean, seriously what are you all arguing?

Selling Quills was also called cheating by some.
Modification is done even in game; you change settings in game that modify the .ini file.
Furthermore, this thread was specifically created for 'discussion'.

    These forums are great.

Hi @Spacecats why did you say you talked to third party developers and yet none of the major ones have actually reported being contacted? (Pinkie, Meishu, Bernkastel being the main "big" ones to my understanding). Bern in particular seems like he'd be the kind of person you'd contact given his widely used guides and his role within the community previously and still currently, and yet nobody ever talked to him or anyone else involved with third party things. If we could please get clarification as to who you contacted and for what reasons, or if you could fess up and say that you never actually contacted any third party developers if that's the case, that'd be a great step in helping to calm things down. Not contacting them is just plain dumb, given that they seem to be more knowledgeable about the flaws of the game (and the game in general) than most of your current staff does.

Also can we have avenues to report glitches and bugs that don't get ignored or risk us getting banned? I myself know of at least 10 or so fairly gamebreaking exploits that don't require any form of external program to pull off, and many more that people have passed onto me that do. A lot of them could be fixed in a simple patch, or at least passed on to BHS. If there could be a way for a dialog to be opened about these issues, even privately as I have attempted previously before to very little success with both forum posts and tickets, I feel like you'd get a lot of useful information, not just from me but from many others too. Currently players such as myself feel as if there's no avenue to report exploits, or that there is no reason to as it risks your account being banned, which is something that needs to change, especially as of late as you've turned a lot of people against you who were previously white-hat about exploits and cheats.

This will probably be swept under the rug though, so I'll probably write a ticket or something containing a list of exploits if/when I get around to it, and probably get banned or get no reply for doing so. Should be great.

Except you're missing the very basic point??? THIS IS A GAME. NOT A REAL LIFE ATHLETIC COMPETITION.
He brought up "real world comparisons", not me, why aren't you criticizing the guy who started it. Then again, I know why.

There are people that are simply trying to PLAY THE GAME. It's inexcusable that players like @Idi0ticGenius have higher ping to NA Tera servers than they do to gameforge servers. EME has been incompetent in addressing server lag and routing issues that have plagued this game for several months. It has nothing to do with where you live. I get 3-10 times the ping to Tera servers that I get to League servers despite both being in same spot. People are only resorting to these measures b/c no progress has been made.
Him and I play from roughly the same location, meaning we have the same exact problems and tend to lag at the same time. My ping on Eu when I played there was overall better, yet here I am, not using anything or justifying it. Instead I frequently request the abilities and game changed to meet the standards of NA as much as possible rather than create a situation that wastes BHS's resources on fixing exploits, because we all know BHS has tons of resources (sarcasm).

Wow, I'm glad you're such an ethical Tera player. Thanks for all your frequent requests that have continued to change nothing! I'm sure BHS spends a lot of time fixing exploits (nope, none of the recent exploits have been fixed, tera rewards bug still there, Lachelith bug still there, gate glitches in various places still possible, etc. )

@Yamazuki: Tell us, which cases do you deem the tool as cheat:

    - EME/BHS implement the tool ingame, and lower ping for everybody.
    - EME/BHS dont implement (cuz whatever reason) but encourage the player base to use it.
    - EME/BHS silently approve the use of the tool, but hush hush and not let the players spread the use of the toons by themselves.
    - EME/BHS says the tool is against the TOS, but don't actually crack down and ignore it.
    - EME/BHS accounces the tool is illegal, and crack down on it, call it cheat.

Which cases, according to you, is cheat? If EME implements the tool into the game, are you still calling it cheat and refuse to use it?

What makes me infuriating on forums, is that some people are so inclined for topics of honesty, civil, justice, etc.. which in some post I only see something opposite... opinionated personal attacks, no constructive arguments to allow others to try to understand their grounds and explain why it others should agree with them... it's just painful to see people blatantly spit out such hatred against another without truly understanding what's going on-- I'm sure, EME right now is as confused to decide what to do to handle this situation.
What people like @Idi0ticGenius and other developers are trying to do is to make EME/BHS to accept the concept, not counting it as a cheat, cooperate with the whitehat developers to either implement it in game permanently, or at least spread out the tools to provide the larger player base a better game experience.

Yet I find it contradictory that they actively tried to hide how to use these tools.

No they haven't. Or it's extremely inefficient to do so compared to human input. But the cheat does it perfectly for you.

They don't. Everything is open source and available in discord and github.

Nobody hides them. They are available on github, discord, etc, and open sources. They even tried to get @Spacecats to join the discord to get him to know about the tool.

Depends on what you're doing with the VPN, is it legal or illegal?
  • Having a better computer is also an advantage, but you don't see people losing their minds over that fact. Again, it is the 'how' and not the 'what'. Also, you can't eliminate ping and the programs don't, they smooth the delayed transitioning and queue of commands by simulating no delay.

    Jesus, these forums man.

Whatever opinions players have expressed on the issue, accurate or not, with understanding or not, isn't all that central. EME has declared that the use of 3rd party tools is not permitted and those that use them are subject to banning.

It has nothing to do with what some may consider ridiculous, ethical, honest, and so forth.

By virtue of the ToS all players must agree to in order to play the game EME has the right to prohibit the use of 3rd party tools and to deny access to the game to those that defy that prohibition.

I think most ppl should read what one of the devs said on reddit before commenting. A lot of misinformation here I think... If EME thinks that dev is wrong they should come up with a proper response. It makes them look very incompetent when random players can fix their game so quickly but they can't even figure out what the problem is.
