From Guy Gamer... (Response To 'From Girl Gamers' Thread)

I haven't been on these forums since forever! Some of the older guy on forums may/ or may not remember me at all by my old thread of 'Guide To Be Priest'.

Anyway enough of the deja vu and lets get to the point. So after long long long long time I come to check Tera forums and I notice they have changed (they look nice be they way). And I look at topics now and there and I notice one thread here in 'Off-Topic' by name of 'From Girl Gamers...
I give it a read because it just smelled of 'popcorn-worthy-thread' by just title and I was right.
OP in there seems to have met bunch of classical no-life idiots that never saw woman in real life and decide to harass ones online and classical trolls and it appears both at same time...anyway that kind of peps. (With some of OP's points I agree, with some I don't).
While OP didn't did generalization and said "Every man in this game is this way" they in fact nicely say at start that they are talking about certain types, however the 'commentators' took that to whole new level.
There were people who took it to extreme and made it sound as this is every dude in this or any other game upon discovery of female behind screen playing some game and the others who treated it as none existent, there were even some who tried to justify these type of douches in game. In short, entire thread is filled with cancer posts! I can't decide which side disgust me most!

So here, from a GUY GAMER (because I shall speak in only my name based on only my thoughts and my own personal experience and what I know regarding this case). So I shall respond to all of OP's statements in same manner they used.


1) NOT EVERY GUY FOLLOWS "THE LEGEND OF OLD" IN HERE

Even though this legend seems as must believe in if you are guy...it appears I have failed, for I do not follow that so called "infamous legend of old" that states that about females playing games.
Therefor I do not light my torches as soon as I discover what is behind screen because guess what? I DON'T CARE! If you are girl that goes in global/ area/ guild chat or whatever "I'm girl" because you like to be addressed by your own gender, then fine, but if you are that girl that as soon as she joins goes with "I'm girl" everywhere she goes...sorry but this gives me deja vu of THIS
So trust me I hate 'white knights' just as 'attention wh*res' and even more for giving them attention. But that doesn't mean "If there isn't 'white knights' there wouldn't be 'attention wh*res' so it is only guy's fault for these type of 'gamers'", because that is wrong! Like I said, some dudes have only online life as comfort in here, they are desperate for female company like addict is to drug, your 'attention wh*res' know this, they are using this knowledge like drug dealer is using this same knowledge to sell drugs. I'm not defending our 'white knights' just trying to say that simply because they pay attention to these type of girl's doesn't mean they are only ones in book to blame!


2) AGAIN SO SORRY FOR NOT BEING DEDICATED FOLLOWER OF THIS OTHER "THE LEGEND OF OLD"

No, you see I won't carry you, try to carry you or pretend to carry you. In fact just read again my old thread that gave me deja vu ^there and you will see that if I notice your ilvl low, you having wrong crystals, are my tank, are useless and etc. I will try to kick you out!
Sorry, as near and almost as 4 year old healer player, I have zero intention in doing carrying for anyone regardless of their gender. If you are someone who dies all the time, tends to make zero effort in playing, you are out. So if you aren't like this, this guy here is happy to have you as my tank/ dps and I shall be thankful that right player came along and in this story I shall be your grateful damsel in distress if you are better geared then me and not vice versa.


3) HOW ABOUT DUEL 'NONE-DOUCHE' OR SOME WHO DOESN'T KNOW THEN =P

Ok this part confused me in OP's post about girls who tend to go in duels with this kind of type.
First, yes I've seen this happen and here is why is it confusing to me. So you know this guy is that guy who cares about your real gender in game? You know what to expect of him based on your loss/ win in here? You know both outcomes shall be blood boiling and cringe worthy for you?
...So what is point in trying to duel with person as that? I don't get it? It kinda tells me you are masochist or something if you keep trying to burn your hand of same fire that you already know.


4) YOU ARE NEITHER AND NO ONE IN MY LIFE UNTIL I SEE YOU PLAY!

Wait so you are girl? That is great 8D
Now play the damn game, don't care. If you happen to be tank who will make my healing easier, I will love you for all eternity and build shrine in your name then. If you are just dps...I will never worship you, though I will hate your guts if you are that kind of dps who doesn't doge and gives me extra work for no reason or tries to tank. In short...I'm interested in your class and how you play it, not your gender.


5) DEPENDS ON HOW YOU TAKE THAT GIFT!

Now I'm 50/50 in here and here is why.
If someone is seriously that dumb dumb dumb to send you gift out of random just based on what is down there, then yeah take it, but don't do it with fake "OMG thank you" way, if you wish to teach them lesson then go in global for example say you are selling/ giving that same thing for free to person who whisps you first that you got from them so they can see how much of idiot they were for doing it! And trust me after something like this, they won't bother to do that in their life again!
If you just keep gift of your 'secret Santa' and accept it and perhaps even throw it away silently, they will seriously think you are into them or that you like this kind of thing or after it. Like I said, if you want to show them their stupidity, THEN SHOW THEM! You ain't showing anything with taking someone's random gift just like that.


6) LEARN HOW TO ANSWER AND HOW TO BLOCK PEOPLE!

This isn't thing that just happens to girls. It happens to everyone who doesn't know how to say "NO" that didn't sound as small little "no".
Ever thought that is perhaps the way you answer to problem? See people have that little predator in them and as every predator they look for little seemingly innocent prey. Here is what I'm talking about.
If you are nice and keep giving nice responses over and over again over same question, no one will get the hint. Because you are too damn polite and because of it they get feeling you can't be irritated in here no matter what. Because everything in general won't get any hint unless you show it, your own PC won't turn off itself if you don't turn it off in first place.
So next time don't be afraid to show them they are annoying you. That is not called being b*tch, but is called being person that doesn't allow to be messed with. And if they go with insults and that nice stuff, 'block' option still exists within this game and if they keep harassing you then 'report' option exists as well.


7) I GET SHOCKED AT EVERYONE WHO TRIES TO BE PURE MOLESTOR!

Ok, if you are someone who likes porn and that kind of stuff...fine. In fact, cool. Keep it in your life then.
But if your 'perv' is one I got it is...then sorry this has nothing to do with gender, I don't like anyone who sounds as creep 24/7h. Like I said, keep it in your life, don't assume everyone is cool with kink you have.


8) AGAIN I GET SHOCKED AT EVERYONE WHO JUST SWEARS!

We all use those "not so nice" words at time and trust me no one gets shocked over it, except that kid that sneaked in Tera and pretends they never heard F word before in their life.
But if F and F and F words are all you know to say? We are done talking, regardless of you gender.


9) ACTUALLY YOUR ASSUMPTION OF "GIRL BEHIND" SCREEN IS JUST AS BAD...IN FACT IT IS STEREOTYPICAL!

Now I didn't manage to catch glimpse of example pic, but by 'edited' I can imagine what kind of "gamer girl" pic it was.
Anyway the thing you said of most likely girl behind her screen is having messy bun and ponytail, some sweater and sweat pants isn't 100% correct. While this is expected to be "typical" of how real "girl who plays games should look like", actually it is false. Because everyone is going to be shocked at how you look at real life, because they don't have predicting abilities in here. And saying this is how every girl that plays game looks is just as bad as assuming that every gamer weighs 600 pounds, has acne, bad teeth and huge glasses. Your comparison sounds just as same and like I said, it is just pure stereotype!
You will be shocking discovery for everyone. But not based on that you weren't their wet fantasy but on base that they actually see your face now vs when they tried to guess it based on your voice and personality. For example, lot of people get shocked I'm Asian because they never expected it by my voice. I got shocked when I discovered my BFF in Tera was female in real life and no not because of THAT reason you assume, I just got shocked because she always plays male aman or popori and she never screamed she was she, therefor seeing her first time in 'Skype' was shock to me but our relationship hasn't changed one bit upon this discovery. I didn't suddenly changed my opinion over her at all and neither did she of me. She was still my "troll" tank and I was still her "b*tchy healer", only thing that has changed is that now we know how each of us looked, but that hasn't changed a thing. We still joked and interacted within a game as if we didn't know a thing.

So please so sorry that people can't predict someone's looks based on their voice, way they chat and character and because they actually get surprised upon actually seeing you for first time. My deepest apologies for that part.
