If I owned a game and you used DPS Meter

You'll get banned. End of discussion. Especially if I told you no, or do you it your own risk. So don't go crying if you lose your account because you thought using DPS Meter was SOOOOOO helpful! You thought using a hacking program that inject/hook itself into Tera was okay. You thought for some reason, it should be allowed even though the staff has already told you no.

News flash, you won't die if you use DPS meter.

But the real reason half of the elitist here are crying, isn't because of DPS Meter. They're crying because they can't use their "3rd party program," to get advantages over player in terms of faster animation, cool down, and attack speed. That's why they're crying, because now they're on equal grounds again and can't just instantly delete you in battleground anymore. They can't mass farm their PvP anymore and do their high tier dungeon to get their gear for free. All of them should be banned.

Everyone who uses DPS Meter needs a warning to quit. DPS Meter should not be allowed because it inject/hook itself into Tera. It is a hack. Everyone here complaining about 3rd party programs, but it's not beginners who are using those 3rd party programs, it's the cheaters in Battleground, in Dungeons, the Elitist. Those who abuse the program to get faster animations, faster cool down. Their excuse is, "My Ping," to make it fair. It's not fair at all. Their faster reactions, time, is more faster than those who have 0ping, and it won't ever be on equal ground.

You can complain all day, at the end of the day you're hacking the game and getting advantages where you shouldn't. DPS Meter is no different because it is an injector/hook into Tera and anyone who is using such program to modify Tera should be banned. This discussion shouldn't even be had at all. The problem is the clarifications on En Masse. En Masse needs to clarify more clearer what they're going after instead of this broad view outlook that is fear mongering the community.

Meter just reads what is sent between your computer and the server. It just takes the numbers and adds them up in an easy to read format.

Injector doesn't change anything about your skills. Doesn't change cooldowns, animations, buff duration, reaction time. It just emulates you having 15 ping instead of over 100+. It doesn't even do it perfectly as your timing for iframes and blocks is still X ping. Some of the programs like auto-block cancel are basically cheats though. I won't excuse those. But for the most part, it just makes it feel like you have low ping.

Please educate yourself before speaking about the matter.

Educate yourself. I separate DPS Meter from those using "3rd party program" to get faster animations. Learn to read.

And for clarification, this idea that "DPS Meter" just reads from your client to server is half-truth. It does more, it hook itself into Tera socket. So what about you do what they ask you to do, gtfo hacking programs that inject itself into Tera? You won't die if you don't use DPS Meter.
  • If I ran this forum I would ban people who provide false and misleading information or create nuisance threads after a GM has provided a consolidation thread.

If I owned this forum, I'll ban employees who abuse their authority, make false accusations, and start ban hammering because they don't like their viewpoint to be disagreed on. Especially when they know they're in the wrong.

I don't think you know what you're talking about. As a person above already said so, the injector does none of this.

Actually the injector is the tool that gets people on somehwat equal grounds, because it eliminates ping tax.
If two people have similar gear/experience/talent, but one has 20ms while the other has 150-250, the latter is at a big disadvantage, especially in pvp. The injector we're talking about is to eliminate this disadvantage and even the grounds.

I'm not saying this because I'm an injector fan either, I never tried using it myself, even though my ping is 150-200. I was even against it for a long time after I learnt about it; but I've seen how it helped a lot of people with 220+ms, and made it possible for them to play classes that are heavily ping dependant.
(obviously I'm only talking about the one that helps with ping - not saying its name on purpose - I'm still against the rest)

Also, this topic has its own official thread, so better discuss it there.

I don't think you know anything about programming to make any statements on how that certain injector works. I can tell you now, it has nothing to do with proxy and connecting to a faster server to get its "pingless" claims.

And for your second paragraph, I'm sure it helps those with 250ms ping, it's a hack. Lol. It's what hack does, help you with an advantage and those players use that advantage in battlegrounds to cancel their animations, pingless skills, and literally can carry a battleground game in PvP. It doesn't put them on equal grounds, because NOBODY has the same ping and latency.
  • I'm glad meter is here because it keeps a lot of my friends playing. Working towards a goal (such as being optimal at your class) keeps the game interesting longer. Ever since crusade died there hasn't been much reason to play once you got fully geared.

If I owned a game and people were so invested in it that they came up with ways to improve the game's longevity free of charge without me having to lift a finger, I'd thank them and move on with my day.

No reason to label someone when you're just as much of one for the opposite side.

Why are you still discussing this? The answer is obvious, let me explain with a real life analogy.

If you're an A+ student, you naturally love tests because it lets you show off how smart you are. Even though tests aren't perfect indicators of ability, you don't really care since you do well and they do measure ability adequately.
If you are a D- student, you hate tests because they make you feel inadequate and that in turn makes you very critical of the testing system and you'll start saying things like "tests don't actually measure anything useful, you can still get through life without tests".
  • The thread makes it pretty clear why you don't own any games, though.

So why don't I get banned playing FF14 when I use a DPS meter that reads from the plaintext combat log while streaming the game on Twitch.
