Joining this discussion is like shooting yourself in the foot. Probably gonna delete this at one point because it's gonna drag me into a cesspool. Here goes nothing though.

You'll get banned. End of discussion. Especially if I told you no, or do you it your own risk. So don't go crying if you lose your account because you thought using DPS Meter was SOOOOOO helpful! You thought using a hacking program that inject/hook itself into Tera was okay. You thought for some reason, it should be allowed even though the staff has already told you no.
Do people who use such things accept the fact that they risk losing their account? Of course. The program that you're talking about didn't inject anything harmful anyways, it just read the packets and calculated them in a way that's understandable. It's been approved by a GM years ago as long as players didn't use it as a bullying method. Honestly if we never got that approval, the discussion over meters would end so much faster.

Considering that players post their meter results in chats, can't EME add a filter to catch it? Something that detects a certain string of letters over a certain span of consecutive messages in a certain amount of time maybe? Investing some time in adding a chat filter like that can discourage people from pasting the results and using it as a source to bully people. It could also enforce the harmless "personal use for personal improvement" aspect of meters. There are several posts about how meters and their information can be used for self-improvement so I won't elaborate on that.

"But people will have access to this information and might use it to kick deadweights! Using a filter to catch meters won't solve a thing!"
Suppose they do implement that feature (they never will) and it's still used in a malicious way such as kicking players. If someone initiates a kick for no clear reason other than the fact they might be doing something a little different like attacking a bit slower or positioning themselves in a terrible way, then you can guess that someone has a meter and is trying to kick that player since they're under par for the meter user's standards. Whoever initiates a random kick without any warning or discussion beforehand is a total butthole and the accompanying members can deny the kick.

"They still have this information! They can just call people out [and tell them that they're terrible]!"
That's harassment and is bannable on that fact alone. People who would dare risk exposing other's dps like that deserve to be banned anyways.

News flash, you won't die if you use DPS meter.
News flash, you won't die if you use that harmless accessory. It's nice to have it, right?

But the real reason half of the elitist here are crying, isn't because of DPS Meter. They're crying because they can't use their "3rd party program," to get advantages over player in terms of faster animation, cool down, and attack speed. That's why they're crying, because now they're on equal grounds again and can't just instantly delete you in battleground anymore. They can't mass farm their PvP anymore and do their high tier dungeon to get their gear for free. All of them should be banned.
Tewii's reply sums up this part nicely.

I'm sure you're aware of what site I'm even talking about and are well aware of how much slower personal dps runs are compared to speed runs. If you have a different source that shows otherwise, feel free to state it, until then, no.

i mean, its around 5-10 seconds slower...

edit: scratch that, its around 16 seconds.

    highest speed run 3cLaseN.png

There's a certain site these people like using, the fastest clears for RMHM do not have the highest personal dps in the same run. The fastest clear does happen to have someone who has the highest dps for the class, but the run where he got the highest dps with his class is significantly slower than his fastest clear time with significantly lower dps.
Stop exposing yourself as a casual player who has no idea how DPS works endgame. The reason why fastest runs aren't highest personal DPS is because fast runs are solo healer, and high personal DPS = double healer. However, if you switch to solo healer ranking, those people in the fastest runs will have highest solo healer personal DPS too.

Stop embarrassing the council. A lot of them are speaking out against your idiotic attitude.

Are you trying to bait me into naming that site so I get banned from this forum because that what is sounds like you are trying to do.
No, I simply said it disproves your claims. High personal dps runs consist of dual healers and always having a lancer regardless of whether they are the best tank or not and any dps that ever could buff damage whether they were good or not. By nature this means it will not be as quick as groups who are genuinely aiming to clear quicker, and again, said site has all this information for free and easy to find in a matter of seconds. You argued that my point about high personal dps and speed runs weren't the same, you claimed they were, and I rather stick to that and not discuss anything else.

If you have nothing to say about clear speed vs personal dps or an entirely different source that somehow hows otherwise, I think it means we're done here. Have a good day :)

how can you disprove someones claim without giving a source to back your side up?

I mean I obviously wasn't referencing slaying runs, because there's a complete lack of them in general, with nearly all of them being focused on personal dps as shown by the dual heals. Sample size and all that good stuff. The current community obviously places a heavy emphasis on seeing that number higher above all else. Before now, I don't think anyone has ever mentioned clear speeds or how a class can clear time wise, it's always been about personal dps.

High personal DPS = high party DPS = faster run given equal team composition. Stop being an idiot.

Players have always considerd clear speeds longer fight means less dps. Thats why they dont run with trap players/classes. The current worst class dps wise right now is gunners thats why you hardly see them at endgame. Classes have been compared bassed on how fast and easily they can do something for ages. Are you sure your playing tera?
  • The guy who made the post is the most [filtered] dogshit i've seen in a while , I don't even play the game but trust me , you're totally wrong on every aspect of what your post is saying , if you think you've knowledge then you should back to school or you'll have serious trouble finding a job or keeping it.
