It is nice to have a conversation with someone like yourself. It can certainly be hard to find that at times in online forums, especially game related ones. The only game forum where that was more the norm with the City of Heroes one when that game was around.
Half my party in RMHM last night, including myself, was getting pingspikes so bad the boss was freezing for 5s at a time and we'd get oneshot before even seeing any attack animations start. I wouldn't call that an improvement.
[filtered]'s getting old.
Harrowhold and HM dungeons are really fun with this ping!
I've spent so much money on Pingzapper,Battleping,Wtfast,Mudfish on playing tera only to see this. I am playing plenty other games and does not see numbers as such.
In a previous thread i asked about what is gonna become of the server settings and experiment with Wonderholme server but it got deleted. Because I have about 100ms lower there and it is so much more stable. I guess i am stuck with this until EME do something about it
Especially @Lusbelle going for the good old 'God this is only a game, why do you bother with this petty things'. Let me tell you a thing or two about 'petty things'. Every person indulge in what they see fit, it's not up to you and your -infinite- pool of wisdom to decide what is universally petty and what is worth. I'm pretty sure if I observe your life, I'll find plenty of things me and many other would consider utterly ridiculous and a waste of time as well.
Now to everyone who thinks people got scared, that people stopped doing what they're doing and that what they were doing was somehow bad to the game.. I'll let you keep living your fantasy land filled with ignorance, where you're only able to look one direction and examining matters, obtaining enough knowledge before you spell out nonsense is a capital crime.
It's called the 'sunken cost fallacy'. if they stop now, all that time and money they spent on the game will be wasted... somehow. They can't just leave if they're not happy with how the game is now, they feel they need to do something.
I asked politely about the motivations of both factions, I'm sad to see you couldn't get yourself to read what I asked.
It's a petty thing—in my opinion, when it has no real impact in life; a digital game where achievements are completely intangible and teaches nothing important to your development as a person intellectually. Hobbies like PC building, tennis, car racing, etc., all give knowledge that is useful or has positive effects on your health and are done in the "physical" domain, unlike a place like Tera, defeating Vergos or having 4 tabs of costumes is something irrelevant to lose or win.
If your argument is friends or rewards tier, I shall address it in order:
Friends, well, that one is relevant, but you don't require a specific game to have interactions or fun, as there are many other games and activities you may do to interact and enjoy time with a friend; the person is not dependant on a specific software or activity.
The rewards, well, it served its purpose, I'm T10, and I really don't care about losing it sooner or later, as I enjoyed what I got in its time, and everything I got there is not even tangible nor relevant to outside game life.
I don't really expect you to give a polite answer, but I at least tried to explain my rationale to you.
I actually use hat, because my ridiculously white skin gets burned in 5 minutes and I end looking like a blonde shrimp. Posh woman look with a hat and umbrella! Top kek.
My ping is and was 140-180. It was far from great even before, but now it is on the edge of being unplayable.
My guess, either it is purely server-side problem, or the update somehow made TERA even more ping-dependent than before.
I simply post with some degree of intelligence, and civility to those that display it. I don't presume an authority I don't have, but also don't let my voice by squashed by the belligerent.
On the scales of life relevance all games are a petty thing, as are all entertainments. They don't feed us, they don't clothe us, they don't provide us shelter.
On the scales of life relevance all game issues are a petty thing. They are not the loss of a loved one, they are not suffering a crippling accident, they are not being inflicted with a chronic disease.
Games are simply a petty thing that many happen to enjoy a great deal and can become quite passionate about, often giving the games and issues related to them a level of importance beyond reason to those persons.
I know, as I've done that myself, with City of Heroes, to the point where I was quite distressed at the closure of it. Once I got on the other side of that loss I re-balanced my perspective, to have a more objective and thoughtful approach to the games I play and issues I have with them.
I do have some hats, but not of them are a fedora.
I would like a fedora, but have not yet found a decent one of the right size at a reasonable price.
Your attemps to hide your condescending tone is downright pathetic, but I'll humour you for a tiny bit, since your brain seems to be too small to fit any substantial intellect, I'll try to put this as clear as possible for you.
This is just a small showcase in massive gaps you leave in your logic. You start by affirming it's a petty thing, but then you correct by saying 'but no, wait, it's just my opinion'. And then you keep going as if what you're saying is the absolute truth, which, may sound surprising to you, it's not.
You fail to understand fundamental things like, for example, how each person weights stuff different, how each person cares about something that is valuable for them, how 'value' and 'worth' are a subjective thing, how personal satisfaction is a huge point of motivation that will drive people forward.
Saying only 'tangible' achievements are relevant and that 'playing a digital game' doesn't teach you anything important to your development is just fruit of your schizophrenic mind, it has nothing to do with the reality everyone else lives in. Saying that only 'tangible' things are of any value and should be cared about is one of the most ridiculous things I ever read.
Also about the last part, you're basically saying 'If what you're doing doesn't 'teach' you anything, it isn't worth' which, again, is so detached to reality I'm not even gonna bother.
I mean, that's typical from City of Heroes fandom. They like to compare every community to what CoH used to be. City of Heroes had unique circumstances going for it, and the playerbase didn't have to go through a publisher to talk to a deaf developer. In a lot of sense the playerbase and the developers worked together to create the best experience possible, on top of the game itself having excellent systems to support it's theme.
That relation between developer and playerbase is what people strive for here, but since the developer is completely deaf and the publisher has big issues communication with the playerbase, leads to things like this. This is the biggest problem, this is the main issue going on right now.
About how much important people put on stuff, that is irrelevant. What does it matter if someone puts a lot of relevance on this. They work/study/pay their bills, it's their right to care how much they want about anything they desire as long isn't bothering others, I don't even see how is this even a point of discussion, should be matter of fact.
