All the wasted Costumes T_T

Long time player here, been around from Beta and I finally figured I'd share something I am sure some of you have come across in your time with Tera. Specially those of us that like to Race change, server transfers or made a character and got things for it only to decide that the class/race just wasn't for you... And deleted it.

Costumes and accessories my fellow players... Un-useable and wasted... But never forgotten!

Yeah... All of those costumes and accessories Are mine, state that they are bound to a current character but cannot be used due to all of the listed reasons, what I find quite troll-ish, is that they all change whom their bound too pending on what character I am currently signed in as, lol
I had put in a ticket to Bhs/Enmasse to see if anything could be done about all this wasted Emp/gold, I haven't heard back just yet so I figured I'd reach out and see if anyone else is in a similar boat, lol.

Did you do a server transfer at some point? When you did so, did you try to bring over items that were bound to another character? And/or were they originally bound to another character that was since deleted (or is still on another server)?

These sorts of reasons can result in this behaviour. Basically, the items are bound to a character whose internal ID can't be found.

That and more xD Race changed, swapped names, deleted unused characters and changed servers, but always saved the costumes due to most of them costing me RL money, lol.
  • Yeah... that's probably why then. If an item is bound to one character and you delete them, but then you create a second character and give them the same name, the items will not become bound to them. They are actually bound to the internal ID of the character (invisible to you), and not to the character by name.

So... the only real way is to contact support, but more or less items are soulbound to the original character that wore them.

Oh yea. I had that figured a while back. I just kinda got a kick as to how many I actually have that are in that boat, and was wondering if anyone else had a similar case, lol.
  • I've race changed and server trans several times in 4 years. I have well over 15 costumes and accessories that I can no longer use and have had to replace for new ones. I just put them in a vault and never remember them.

You can contact support and have them swap the costume over to the applicable race's costume for that character. And for race-specific [like Elin-only] costumes they will rebind them to a different, eligible character of your choosing.

I've done this a couple times, Malrok and Rayner really help out with that. It's the reason my Popo Priest has his snowsuit after racechanging from Elin.

I just want to say that I had placed a ticket to change my Elin Only items that were bound to my now human sorc to my lvl 65 Ninja and I was informed that they will not swap it to Ninja characters. I was pretty sad by this and was told they are not going to change that anytime soon.

Welp. Almost a full tab of costumes purchased with Real currency and told ''Nothing can be done. Sorry :D'' Most expensive Merchant fodder I have ever purchased in my life of gaming xDDD Time to make me 100g :chuffed:

Edit: Nevermind :D I cannot even sell them to merchants. -Gives them to Invisible Deletion Senpai-

i have more than 2 mill in costumes XD

I have tier 8 Rewards xD Spend close to 5-8k US in emp. <. > 2m gold worth of costumes isn't too much in the long run xD BUT I see what you're saying. Just feels wrong to be told that my being a loyal/paying customer has no choice but to wasted even more money over something so small.

Now I sound entitled. Bleh. LOL. Oh well.

Moral of this story? Either be damn sure you'll NEVER delete a character, race change a character or server change a character, if you own emp costumes, or if you do, make sure you're prepared to toss money out the window. They will how ever bring back that deleted character if it's with in a time frame. So hey, apparently doing that is easier than reassigning cosmetics. Something learned.

I don't see the situation like you. All money I spend on games I consider cheap entertainment, because, in fact, it's very cheap indeed comparing to other kinds of entertainment like cinema, restaurant and so on. Even more if you comparing the time you have fun in game like a mmo and the time of a movie or a good meal.

Well, the whole purpose of the soulbind system on cosmetics is that it's tied to the character you bought it for. They're character-bound, not account-bound. If you race change and contact support, they'll swap the available costumes for the new race (if an equivalent is available). And if you server transfer, all the costumes currently bound to you will stay bound to that character. But yeah, they won't reassign cosmetics, not because of the effort involved, but because it undermines their business model of buying cosmetics for each character. If there were ever going to be some sort of cosmetic rebind service, they'd have to charge something for it. Otherwise, people would just buy one costume and constantly ask support to reassign it to all their alts.

That bit, they won't. I asked just that, because a number of my characters with those specific types of costumes have that issue as well. Spoken with GM Rayner for a good portion of this afternoon. A quote from him. " If you deleted a character that an item was bound to, I'd be more than happy to restore the character, and if the item was broken due to server transfer, I can definitely send it to the character that the original item was bound to." Basically, if it does not follow that guide line it's not something they will facilitate. Other than that, this has been answered. like it or not. Lol.
