TERA Anniversary: Event Feedback

First of all, this thread is NOT to complain to EME, but to give a few tips of what the community would PROBABLY want for the anniversary events.
The community had been waiting to hear about the events EME had planned out to celebrate the 5 year anniversary of TERA NA during the month of May.
While we appreciate the time and effort EME takes to plan rewarding events for the community, the events feel lacking.

PROS:
* TERA Super Quiz Bowl
The community has been wanting to try it since it first came out and it will be fun to experience it for the first time.

* Battleground Power-hour
With the soon-to-be removal of BG credits it will be good to take advantage of this.

* "Spacecats" Tokens
Last time around the tokens were very popular.

CONS:
* Repetition
We have been doing the same dungeons and battlegrounds for ages, unless it's the new dungeons I'm sure we don't want to keep doing them(TS, BR, + the new ones).

* No Action Open-World Events
These are the funnest and they bring the community together to overcome challenges.

* No Laid-back Events (other than Quiz Bowl)
For when you're tired of fighting and you just wanna relax and peacefully cook.

Possibilities:
* Rootstock
Just cause we all love stuffing our faces.

* Sun Festival
We're so close to Summer we need smoothies for when the heat comes.

* T.E.R.A Event
We're celebrating TERA, so why not do it with the fun BAM killing T.E.R.A event!?

* Open-World Bosses
OW Bosses always brings the community together and it's a lot of fun seeing people die left and right. Plus it's another way of getting "Spacecats" Tokens!

Please give your opinions on the matter in a respectful manner!

    I for one am very happy to replay my two favorite dungeons in a state that make them fun again.
  • Noob question, what is TERA Super Quiz Bowl?

    That would be the Arena like structure that appeared outside of Velika after the Harrowhold patch iirc.

    well at least this anniversary there are plenty of ways for eme to make some serious money, the gift box event, the new armor later this month and the new maid outfits, not to mention whatever else will be on sale. im not complaining, im just hoping they make a lot of money to ensure that tera can keep going strong. my only complaint would be , I wish we could have known about these sales, so that we could have been able to save up for it.

    PROS:

    1) The 5th anniversary wings that are perm. (And I can get 5 of them) They are an amazing and great gift.
    2) TERA Super Quiz Bowl (saw this in a video and it looks like it could be fun)
    3) "Spacecats" Tokens (What are these and where is anniversary vendor at?)
    4) The free perm dye for a log-in during May (not sure if they normally do it but it's there)
    5) The perm LOL face (another log-in reward but it's perm and those are the best cosmetics)
    6) Battleground power hour
    7) New armor skins go on sale and look nice
    8) Veik's Fate on the 9th
    9) New gear

    CONS:

    1) Taking out more dungeons then putting in (10 out if you include hard modes and only 7 in if you include DF increased difficulty. Don't need more content removed and less put back in. For an anniversary we should have access to ALL the dungeons that have ever been in Tera)
    2) The 30-day event car (Any cosmetic with a timer is useless imo, especially for an anniversary. Just glad the wings are perm or I would've been raging, lol.)
    3) No special event dungeon (I and other players have suggested an event dungeon that comes around only during events)

    Possibilities:

    Anniversary needs to be a no holds barred event (Dungeons should have multiple rewards from drop rates to Kyra's Shack catalysts. There should be hunting Caimen for drops or BAM's for boxes. Need a place to gather also like Rootstock or someplace like it. The Arena for quiz time? And the calendar should have more unique rewards but also would prefer you kept stuff like the dragon scales that are hard to come by to begin with. Should be something for everyone from the dungeon runner, to the monster hunter, to the log-in player, to the player who wants to socialize like Rootstock or a quiz fanatic at the Arena.)

    Are you serious? They're not giving us a permanent T-E-R-A event mount??? They're just giving us some 30day BS mount?
    If that's true then that's absolutely infuriating, especially if the car the EU players get from their T-E-R-A event is permanent.....

    I don't think EME has ever really liked these cars except as passing baubles (based on past comments they made). I suspect that's why they chose to give out the 5x permanent wings (instead of tying it to 6 mo. Elite) and just a temporary car on the calendar. Unless they have some other plans for them.

    Anyway, for this thread in general, I think it's too early to tell because most of the events start next week. The news post also alludes to "other events throughout the month" so some of the other points listed may still be coming. And no one knows what will be in the token merchant.

    Only hope for the permanent mount is through Anniversary tokens! We'll have to wait until 5/9 to find out! :anguished:
  • I was hoping to see a sale on elite status. That would have made the anniversary great for me and I'm sure a lot of people would jump on it.

    I got a golden box. I pulled feedstock. That's not worth twenty freaking dollars ever. Absolutely horrible. Feedstock and alk should not be in something that costs literally $20. Buuuuuut I knew that risk before opening it. Oh well.

    That's my only negative feedback. Everything else is fun and good. They could be a little clearer on information, but there's a lot of stuff that goes into these events.

    Not to be that guy, but they don't change so long as people keep buying. I agree that is a ridiculous "prize" to pull from something like that.

    My post was either disappeared or messed up because of editing, but in case it doesn't come back:

    1) The presentation was horribly messy. Pages all over the place to get the full picture of what's going on. The only reason there's any coherency is because players took it upon themselves to consolidate everything

    2) Not offering the permanent mount or at least a permanent one the same way that EU did is in poor taste. Not unheard of from MMOs, but it's usually only eastern ones that do it, and it's not a good practice.

    3) $20 for the cash shop boxes and new armor that will also be in the cash shop are not how a company should thank its players and welcome them and new faces to spend with them. The norm is to offer players something that shows they are appreciated, and someone getting borderline worthless items after spending that much and having to spend what I'm assuming will be a pretty hefty sum for armor that players have been wanting is not very inviting.

    4) The lineup is yet to be revealed, so I'll reserve my judgement on how well the featured dungeons for the coins allow both new and veteran players to get involved.

    Snip

    I agree- except maybe that they'll put a perm mount in the token shop? Guess we'll have to wait and see.

    The announced stuff so far(and how it can go horribly wrong):
    1. Wings: Fine. except...why are some of them grey and some are white and black? Me no understand.
    2. BG Highlights: Powerhour works because it has specific times when it's active meaning players know when queues will be good. A weeklong "powerhour" will, once again, spread the playerbase too thin. After the first day hype is gone, queues will lengthen, more and mor epeople will give up on it, queues will become insanely long. The(so far) lack of an OW aspect to the event means there isn't even a "something to do" while waiting for queue and the replacement of credits with RNG boxes won't help either.
    3. The Quiz Bowl...I have no idea what that is but I'm pretty sure it'll be around 3am my time. Would be pretty said if that turns out to be the best part of the event....
    4. The dungeon highlights: Considering it's a new patch and there is a limited number of endgame dungeons, I expect them to pick 1-3 dungeons per week, including the new ones. At the end of each week, a number of people will be so sick of whatever dungeons were chosen, they'll have no desire to go in there again. And they'll also have enough VM9 mats to never need to go there again. I pretty much expect the entire new patch to be "old and boring" by the time event is over. here's to hoping though.
    5. Tokens and the secret surprise: I've already heard a few people say "Just save them for the last week, that's when the best stuff comes up". I expect a lot of disappointed people who missed a cool item because they were saving their tokens for an even cooler item that won't show up. If you are looking for an investment, I recommend salt mining equipment.

    Overall conclusion: Shoving people into limited content for a whole week is a bad idea. Hyping something without telling what it is is an even worse idea. This event is designed to disappoint people and get them completely burned out.

    Btw, why do those costumes look familiar? I feel like I've seen them already but can't quite figure out where.

    I'm not too confident about the token thing, to tell the truth. If it's a perm tera car I doubt I'd spend them for it if there are any other reasonable choices. Would probably rank noc and feedstock higher than that if its just character bound. I get the feeling that they've already put their best foot forward with the new content announcement and free wings, and were hoping to ride out the hype.

    I'm holding out hope that the full plate cosmetics aren't in a lockbox, but its not much of one. The helm and shield are separate, and it comes in 3 variants. Screams rng lockbox for at least the accessories and one variant.
