"This game is dead" - Infographic says otherwise

2013 - First we have TERA_Infographic_Final.jpg 1.5 million accounts created.

2015 - 2 years later we have https://youtube.com/watch?v=pmr-r0xvOkk 4.5 million accounts created.

2017 - 2 years later we have Infographic.png 6.6 million accounts created.

We can se how this game has always new players coming but sadly we don't havehow many has left the game, however this demographic info shows that TERA is far from dead as some ppl want to make believe.

We have a game that is alive and kicking but few players think that they are the only ones playing this game.

If anyone has real info that can work as a counter argument then feel free to show us your "oficial info" saying otherwise.

how many of those players now are alts, and alt accounts?

Also just a little bit of additional math here. If we remove gender locked classes from the count, we have 9.8 million females characters vs 8.7 million male characters. Which brings the male to females ratio to 47% and 53%.
If we account all the gender preference in terms of costume quality and quantity, we'd very likely have more male characters than female.
  • SWTOR was well on its way down the population toilet when EAWare produced an infographic that "said otherwise". There's a reason that publishers try to keep a lid on actual number of active accounts at any given time and put the best light on things that they can. Yes, it shows lots of characters created, but it doesn't tell whether the servers are booming or on life support.

It's nothing more than total accumulated account created, gold collected, mobs killed etc over the last five years rather than telling us the real active account, active characters etc over the last three or six months. And I don't recall if EME ever telling us total currently active account.

when you compare the amount of vanilla classes created compared to the newer ones you can clearly see a huge difference between the two

gunner's only one higher than them because tera was released on steam at the same time
  • Instead of selling just copy of game for ps4/xbox,

Selling ps4/xbox game copy with keyboard and mouse for exclusively made for console Tera and merging PC & console servers will triple number of players anyway.

Game is dead or game is dying is not an actual stat, it is more of a butthurt stat. We see that a lot recently on forums tho. 1st claim 3rd party user will leave, then banhammer, then boycott and still game is alive.

If you claim game is dead, why you are around? If you wanna be around dead people go join The Walking Dead cast.

Even now vanilla classes are being created so, what you try to make it an argument will only backfire at you.

I have been coaching almost 50 new players in several guilds in this month and they created warriors, slayers, lancers and priest mostly, being few the ones that created the newer classes.

I new player won't make the FotM class but he will create one that looks cooler or cuter for them. I even saw a new player creating his toon to match the appareance and weapon from a character from another videogame.

ok? that doesn't change the fact that there are more vanilla classes than newer ones due to less players around to create the newer ones

really funny how valkyrie wasn't included too, number wouldn't even be a third of ninja
  • Total accounts created had always been a meaningless metric. Total active users is what matters, and EME won't dare. There is a reason the new infographics doesn't include valk, because the numbers are very disappointing.

Where is your oficial info to sustain such things?

Oh wait! You don't have any then you are only making assumptions :)

Good to see that are always the same people that try to mislead with 0 info, 0 facts the reallity ^^

so since you only made this thread to flame anyone that doesn't agree with you and aren't actually interested in any kind of discussion, i've reported it as such

1,5mio of TOTAL accounts from 5 years. Lets say endgame playes are half of them, most of endgame players have 2 or a big procent of them 5+ accounts. They would make maybe 500-600k of actual accounts.
Over last 2 years, over half of my friend list never logged since 1 year or more (and i delete ppl who dont log in regularly). That leaves 250k population.
Over past years I ve given out a lot of buddy up codes. Statistically out of 10 ppl only 1 makes it to lvl65 (and mostly an alt of a returning players) where the rest is not logging in since lvl 40. So the half of 250k accounts is maybe new players, which never leveled up. That makes 100-150k of actual playing accounts.
My numbers are based on my own experience and the same thing I hear from many other players.

I will follow your logic on the matter, asuming what you say is true, about Tera having 100k-150k players, I can asure you that amount of active players (because you make an assumtion of every player having 5 accounts) are enought to make a healty server.

Other games have been hosting servers for lower populations on other countries, ie. when LoL opened LAN server it had less than 100k active accounts for almost 3 years (and that is assuming they didn't have alts).

Anyway, assuming that Tera has 100k-150k active players without something that can back it up will lead us to no where, truth could be that there are less players or even more, the only thing we know 2.8k accounts average per day were created in that last 2 years. That is not a game that is dying.

I will make an assumption about what I put in bold, about many characters being created is because many people make toons to lvl up them throught BGs and use the KS and BC credits to sell them for gold.

Several of my guild mates do that, I sell them new character slots and they sell me their credits. I think I have spent around 3 million gold doing that in the last 2 months.

Seems like its very profitable for them (and I mean for them becuase they don't like to play broker at all).

You're asking this official info, that official info for prove etc etc to state that this game isn't dead bla bla bla is like, there is another "official(s)" than EME or BHS for NA Tera. EME never tell us real statistic for currently active account this this month, week or last three days.
6 million accounts created means nothing if only 4 thousand accounts active daily.
