If this is the timeframe... one contributing cause may also be Zayo. The times when you say "it was okay" was when they switched to Savvis, and then they switched back. And now the complaints are up again.

That said, you are playing on AV, or what server are you on? For things like HH, your guild, and so on, it's still everyone on the same server at the same time. Even when you go into an instance, there's some crosstalk back to the home server. When the home server lags, it'll cascade to everyone no matter what they're doing (even in battlegrounds, etc.).

And well... all I can do is try to narrow down the root cause and communicate it to EME. It's up to them to take action.

I am one of the players routed through the Zayo nodes in Chicago. I have seen my fps go from 70 to 1 (not exaggerating). In other games I do not see these wild fps spikes. Even farming/grinding on IOD is basically undoable and I can't run dungeons with my fps dropping this low. What makes this so disheartening is that they knew and must know if they moved us from Zayo to Savvis to begin with. Would be nice if EME/BHS could make Tera playable again.
Well, if you're talking about framerate... that's not usually caused by anything over the network. Usually with network lag your framerate will be fine, but your attacks will be delayed in hitting or monsters will be frozen, and then suddenly act all at once. That's what we're normally talking about in terms of "lag."

Framerate issues are a different matter. The game is hardly well-optimized in the first place, and there are certainly places where you'll get a lot of slowdown, but I'm not sure going all the way down as far as you're saying is typical (though it depends on exactly what dungeon you're talking about -- maybe it's "normal"). Would probably need a bit more information about your machine and the sorts of times this happens to know for sure. This sort of issue could also be caused by heat issues (because of TERA's optimization problems, the game is known to make some CPUs/GPUs run hot in some cases).

Around the period of the new class launch, I definitely experienced this. But in more recent times it has calmed down. This also seems to reflect the experience of many others I know too (although people in certain parts of the U.S. were negatively impacted by the switch back to Zayo).

Obviously, there are always people complaining about lag, but in my experience most of it (not necessarily all) is not pervasive in the open world at this time. Most of the times I've diagnosed this on the forums, it was traced to one of the routers before hitting the server. Sometimes, it was Zayo nodes in Chicago, so it hit a lot of people (unless they were lucky enough to be routed around it). Sometimes I've used VPN connections to confirm that it was possible to route around the issue.

So anyway, I'm not saying there's no lag in the open world, but generally speaking it doesn't seem to be global/pervasive right now. But, Zayo is certainly negatively impacting a large group of people.

I used IM. KC was the example of the worst place last days. CW also lags. Delays in skills. DF also a pain. Open world lags too! No matter where I am located. Drop are huge! Literally 54-3

glad I am not alone with this issue my fps does the same. this only happens to me in Tera and from reading posts it sounds like the root of my problems is with the Zayo nodes. also sounds like eme/bhs knows about the issue and are deciding to do nothing. it is sad they are as Tera has been the best ftp game I have played so far.

Not sure if copy/pasting this is against forum rules or not but if you ban me for copy pasting this here so be it I have almost given up on seeing a playable Tera again anyway.

Btw I do use an external cooler cause I hate lag especially the lag spike we are seeing/have been seeing. Tera is not playable the way it is for those of us unfortunate enough to be in "certain parts of the U.S." that were "negatively impacted by the switch back to Zayo."

    > people still confusing fps drop and lag

Sorry, whenever I see a "I HAVE LAAG" thread, I'm not sure if I can take this serious. The next one for sure claims that wifi doesn't influence lag, the other will say that he can simultaneously download/stream or having the rest of his houshold stream/torrenting.

Come on, tracking and eleminating lag is not a rocket science. But crying here on the forums doesn't help you if the problem is on YOUR end. So take some time, sit down and learn how to deal with the problem. Get your own internet pieplie, stop playing wifi (there are LAN connections over your houshold power lines), learn to read tracert, kick your ISP for bundling you with others.

TR players were lagging in HH pretty heavily around 1-5 pm PST.
This means delayed Vergos animations, teleporting walls.
Players were from NA/EU all experiencing the same thing.

I'm with you on people that think FPS drops are the same thing as the lag we've had, but we ARE having mass lag.

I really doubt if everyone in a dungeon, and everyone you know currently in-game experiences a mass lagspike at the same time, where everything freezes for a solid 5s...that it's all of our internets.

In fact, that's [filtered], and it's not.

1st of all Tracert is a bad tool for tracing lag you should be using pathping or pingplotter or other more versatile tools. 2ndly there are many of us who are fully aware of what is going on and know that it is not anything on our end. Of course there will be people who do not have an understanding but there are many that do and there is definitely on Tera's side.

There is another issue that Zayo does not return ICMP packets so our tools can't pinpoint how much loss is occurring when we reach their network. For instance I have 1000/1000 symetrical connection that is hardwired with an Edge Router Lite handling my routing on a fiber connection with next to no bufferbloat. I am also able to see my route and return latency on pathping pingplotter and I show zero issue till I hit Zayo since they return no information. I have, at times, ridiculous amounts of lag that make the game nearly unplayable. So what is this "rocket science" you would do to fix this lag? Honestly if you are not educating people and giving relevant information you are not helping anyone and just clogging the information pipelines with your bs.

And I also play with a steady group of people and our discord is usually pretty full so when you see that people who connect from different parts of the country all take different routes to tera, I know I have looked at their pathpings, all having simultaneous spikes it's easy to start pointing the finger at tera or their service provider.

Issue started back in ninja patch last year, then it seem to fix for a while. Then issue returns sometime in November 2016, started to get more noticeable in December. Then go about a month or two ish, it was okay and then back to the lag again. It makes some of us unmotivated to play due to this issue. Yeah it's our ISP right....

Thanks. Yes I'm on AV. Usually at times I have run several trace routes and they always look pretty normal (10ms start-25ms at end) but it doesn't really tell everything because at some point in the game there is spiking. It can occur in 30 seconds or like few minutes later. If it helps, one time I've noticed the last line of a traceroute at one time had an asterisk and did not show any ping. Also I feel running something like a pingplotter would be more efficient and see where the issue may be occurring.

Many people have posted videos, as such to as harrowhold for example, how they wiped. Mechanics occur and then it just blazes into like 5 seconds later instead and everyone just wipes. Same things been occurring in dungeons like rmhm, like when last boss does laser at knock back for example. Five seconds later 4 people die at same time while I notice a huge 2-3 seconds freezing on my screen; boss goes from one area to the next. Not something you see normally. There are a lot more occurrences at different instances.

And yep, when all was okay it was when we had savvis. I've noticed the spikings were noticeable a lot during kyra event when they spawned legendaries. January seemed to be normal but around Febraury and later it was noticeable. With switching to zayo, it feels like it got a lot worse especially since valkyrie patch release. I know EME asked us for to submit our logs, which I did. Don't know if it will help them, taking forever to communicate on that. The other thing is it's a bit frustrating as a player playing this game, why we are always tasked everytime to worry about our ping when logging in and also thinking, "am I going to lag today?" feeling(s)...

It's been lagging for the last 6 months and EME is not concerned at all it seems.

I'd be in a cs fighting someone and all a sudden they've moved when I use my skill. And no, they don't have magical tele abilities, they'd like be on the left side of me in front if that makes sense
