+12 Dreadnaught, now what?

Hi everyone, I was a returning player about a week ago, and had a crappy Mayhem Set. I was advised to get Dreadnaught armor and +12 (so far I have 2 pieces at +12) it so I could do higher tier dungeons to get my better set. The only thing is, am I supposed to go for the Slaughter Set next? Or will dreadnaught full +12 be able to get my item level high enough to do the dungeon to get the Starfall Set? I believe starfall is the highest end pve gear, correct me if I'm wrong.

My item level right now with two pieces of dreadnaught at +12 is 399, and item level requirement for starfall is 409. Thanks!

So basically, do I NEED slaughter armor in order to be able to get Starfall set?

I say get Slaughter Gloves and Boots and +12 em along with new accessories. Then work on Starfall weapon + chest.

Oki doke, that would work, since my item level is high enough to do Slaughter set dungeon, and I haven't yet +12'd my gloves/boots. So it would work out if I could get those pieces and +12 them and then work on Starfall pieces if my item level is then high enough.

Just for future reference, if you are a dps or tank, you should always +12 weapon first then gloves, then chest, and boots should always be last to +12. Not sure if the order should change for healers. If you are going for multi starfall pieces, again, weapon first then gloves. Gloves are always second because they add more power/dps, and the starfall gloves also give a 3% damage mod

Hope you saved t9 or t8 to convert to t9 cuz you're going to need a hell of a lot of them

from personal experience t9 slaughter fails alot! I'm still trying to get just my weapon to +12. Nearing 1000 t9. #broke :V

Yea, I got my weapon to +12 first and then my chest piece, my boots, gloves are only +10 still tho

What you have to understand when trying to decide which gear to aim for is to figure out what your dedication level is. A more casual player (no shame in that either) is fine with slaughter. +12 slaughter is sufficient to clear all endgame content.

If you're more dedicated, you can go for starfall. It's not a necessity, but it helps a lot if you're going to be frequently running the hardest content to farm or to go into pvp.

Another thing to understand is that Starfall was MUCH easier to attain last patch than any other gear of its type in the past. I'm not sure how easy it is to attain this patch. If anything, I would imagine it might be harder to obtain. Pretty certain the next high tier set is coming soon, so if you really want top tier gear it might be worth it to just wait.

Hmm, I plan to play a lot and my goal is to get high end pvp gear and join a gvg/pvp guild. I like pve as well, but pvp has always been my main attraction

Now I'm not sure whether or not I should wait to get that top tier gear when you say another set may come out soon lol If I want to get VM7 gear, which from what I understand is Conflate armor?, if I want that gear, you explained I do need Starfall correct?...Now I'm conflicted whether to just +12 Slaughter gear and get Starfall after...or just wait...lol

I was about to ask the same question. I think the best route just based on the experience ive had is to get the weapon and gloves to +12 and hopefully your ilvl is high enough to grind the dungeons to get the mats for starfall. Cause without Slaughter you can't get into the dungeons required to get the mats for starfall(which i find really stupid).

Not really a fan of this cause you're forced to upgrade a t9 set to get a t9 set. BG Only gives you some of them and others are only dropped through dungeons. I believe the heart of something is from higher lvl dungeons which full +12 dread wont allow you to queue for.

If what people are saying is true then maybe being happy with slaughter +12 atm isn't such a bad idea. I'm having quite a lot of trouble +12 in'g it atm though. Currently at 1.9k feedstock on the weapon. Find that part to also be quite irritating. Was like 2 weeks worth of gold savings plus all the feedstock i had gathered.

Well I did 2 runs of Demonkron Normal and got my full Slaughter Set already....Now just trying to decide what to do based on everyone's advice here...lol >.<

Are you planning to do HMs? If not. Get you DN to +12 add to it slaughter weapon(12) + belt and you are fine considering you take your time to get proper roll on gear for your class.

IF you are planning HM. +12 DN weapon and +9 rest. DF get that Slaughter and start working on it +12, rolls etc.

yea i can dismantle my +12 slaughter weapon for 2.2k feedstock T.T i burned alot for it
