New player - Never really played.
Hi There,
Nice to meet you. I am currently downloading TERA to play this game. I used to raid in top oceanic guilds for many years on WoW and want to not return to that now boringish game, i don't mind paying a sub and i was just looking for some answer. I will post some questions below.
1) Is the "elite" status worth it?
2) IS this game heavily pay to win or does the store just give you an advantage... i am okay with an advantage but still would rather not have a game you can just pay and win for days ( not including what you get with "elite" status)
3) I want to heal preferably, but how is healing while leveling? IS it hard? Are healers in demand a lot!
4) What is a good healing class in this game?
5) What is the most recommended server for oceanic player and is the ping super bad? ...Yes i have learned to live with the fact that no games will ever release an oceanic server
This is why wow remains the #1... but hey who am i to complain?
6) Can you recommend any feedback for this game?
7) What is the player base like leveling? I love doing dungeon are these still active leveling?
PS. How do i change my name from the one listed? haha 9WKJP seems a little wierd.....
Thank you very much in advance for takingt he time to answer these questions.
See you in game!

2) Not p2w, the only thing thats not farmable or quite tedious to obtain is the 2.0 crit power dragon, but its not a must and certainly useless on a healer.
3) healers have an easy life leveling, you get almost instantly qued in every dungeon, dont even try to solo mobs or anything like that its not worth the time. But be aware that mostly non pro players are leveling too so you will have a hard time keeping them alive
4) Priest or mystic are both good, each with different playstyle. Priest is more defensive healing with lot of utilities to keep your party alive, mystic is good for more experienced parties who doesnt need that much babysitting. End-game dungeon parties usually go double-healer and bring both.
5) get rekt
6) i can't i play this game for over 2 years, and i couldn't play anything else
7) since leveling from 1-65 can take from 8 hours to eternity depending how good is your understanding of the game and how willing are you to read/watch additional guides and information/ask questions the leveling players are vastly different. Old players leveling an alt usually want to clear the dungeon fast, they know what they are doing (eg. dps the back of the boss, tank properly holding aggro, using proper skills not auto attack) but if you get a party with 4 new players, it can be a pain
PS. use a buddy up code from this thread: https://forums.enmasse.com/tera/discussion/96/buddyup-codes-thread#latest

ok so this is for me but:
1) elite does offer some bonuses but you can live without it honestly. double exp, drops, double the amount of entries at endgame, free mounts and consumables etc. however if you arent too dedicated to the game and want to play casual it wont kill you to not get elite xD
2) not really but kind of at the same time. the game has a lot of grinding at endgame and you can sell off your gear if you liberate it. selling EMP is one way people get money easily and they can buy gear straight off if they wanted. but even though they have good gear doesnt mean they'll do amazing dps
3) low level dungeons recently got buffed maybe about a month or so ago so dungeons arent so faceroll like before. but since you're new it should be mostly ok if you have a general gist of how to play xD healers are kind of in demand but as always tanks are the most in demand
4) personally priest is the easier one out of the two because there are many healing skills and shields. i started with mystic and i gotta say they're both pretty fun in their own way
5) all servers are from the same area in chicago so it doesnt matter which one you choose c:
6) the combat system is one of the best ive played out of all the mmo's i have but the dungeons are kinda ... meh i guess x:
7) it depends on the class mostly i guess. dps queues will take years but healer and tank ones are pretty fast depending on the time
as for name change: https://forums.enmasse.com/tera/discussion/20/setting-up-your-account-nickname#latest should have the details
have fun on tera c:
1. Elite gives various advantages. The biggest ones are the experience and gold boosts as well as double dungeon entries per day. They're nice but not absolutely necessary. You also get a better mount while you're starting but similar can be bought off the trade broker and marginally worse can be got through a quest. The double dungeon entries go only for level 65 dungeons, all below that have 10-60 minute cooldowns.
2. Not pay to win unless you count buying stuff for real money and selling them to other players for gold as p2w so you can afford better gear. Sold items are mainly cosmetics and elite voucher-kind of things. That said, there is that one bought dragon mount that gives a minor crit buff you can't get through playing.
3. You can queue dungeons for fast leveling as a healer. The queue times are good in the 65 range too. Healing while leveling isn't particulary hard in my opinion.
4. You have the choice between priest and mystic. Priest is more defensive and has more heals overall and easier area heals. Mystic prefers the lock-on heal for primary healing. Ping does affect the speed of your lockon, but as both classes have those it isn't that big of an issue for choosing a class. My recommendation would be a mystic if you plan to run with a competent static group late game or a priest if you like IM'ing. That said both are capable in either case.
Priest applies buffs before combat (or in combat if necessary) that last for 15 minutes. These include power and endurance. In combat you have energy stars that increase attack speed + power and triple nemesis that reduces endurance of the target. You have one chargeable skill to replenish mana of nearby friendlies. One i-frame and one movement skill. Self-heal, self-resurrection, super self-heal. Area cleanse. Can put out an instant shield (essentially +HP and knockdown immunity) for 5 people, including you.
Mystic runs auras that consume mana while active. You can select 2 out of 4, usually crit buff and mana for friendlies. In combat you keep using the lock-on heal and boomerang pulse to heal. You can drop healing and mana motes but don't expect people to grab these unless you're dead or during boss phases when separated from you. You debuff targets with volley of curses and contagion. Mana can be replenished through damaging monsters with a skill, then releasing or mana motes if they're beneath the player. You can summon thralls, but aside from the thrall of wrath dps is neglible. Self-heal is through motes and the healing thrall. One i-frame skill. Lock-on cleanse.
Mystic only has the lock-on heal until around level 60 while priest gets more skills. To compensate the mystic's lock-on is considerably stronger than priest's.
5. To be honest I have no idea if there is any difference. They're all supposedly in the same physical location if I have understood it right.
6. Feedback? Not sure if I understand. TERA isn't like most MMOs where you stand and kick each other. Facetanking bosses will end badly so get used to dodging. Actually you can think the combat system as a cross between a traditional MMO and a third person action game like Dark souls. If you're taking the time to download, read up on essentialmana.com/basic-healer-guide/. That site is your go-to for any information about classes.
7. There was a big patch just yesterday so I'd guess there's less levelers as people are gearing the new set on their old characters. It shouldn't be too bad though.
Here's the link for changing the forum name https://forums.enmasse.com/tera/discussion/20/setting-up-your-account-nickname#latest
2. I personally don't see this game is p2w. P2w to me is buying gears in store that you can't acquire otherwise. Yes you can buy cosmetic things and sell for gold and buy mats to craft the best gear, but this game is so skill dependent having gears does not equate to win. Plus everything is obtainable without spending money.
3. Mystic tend to have a harder time leveling because one of the major heal is learned at level 63. Healing is honestly not hard in this game though comparing to other roles. My tip is, know who is important and worth your mana and time to keep alive and support.
4. I'll try not to be bias here and state facts. Priest got lots of aoe and burst, making priests can heal carry much easier. Mystics can carry too, just takes a bit more work. In terms of offensive support, mystics got crit aura, contagion, and soon will be 10% enfeeblement. Priests got energy star, shakan buff, and 10% enfeeblement. I'd say mystic wins for offensive support. In terms of defensive support, priest Kaia and arise all the way, mystics can't compare. In terms of survivability, I'd say pretty even as priests can heal much faster and effective while mystics are very mobile. Not to mention corruption ring the the most op skill ever.
All in all, new parties work better with priest, fast experienced runs usually grab a mystic. I myself likes to priest a lot more than mystic because priests are more interactive, and I feel like an aura bot when I mystic.
5. Don't think it matters.
6. Read essential mana guides. Bookmark the site, it is very verude VERY helpful. In endgame make sure you read guides before doing a dungeon. Invest in a good mouse if you haven't already especially for priests, quite a bit of important skills.
7. Fastest way to level is doing dungeons. But don't focus on the leveling aspect so much (since I see you keep asking about it), the game starts at endgame.
A good guild as in, they have players capable of clearing contents and are willing to help you learn it. I was lucky enough to have a group of people that was willing to spend hours in RMH last patch until I was able to carry my own weight.
