TERA on External HDD?
This is the current Hard Drive that I have in my laptop:
https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias=aps&field-keywords=sandisk+z400s+128gb&rh=i:aps,k:sandisk+z400s+128gb
This is the Hard Drive that I'm looking at (the 1tb edition):

I'd like to move all of my games over to the external one, so I'm wondering if I can run TERA on an external HDD with similar performance as an internal HDD? I'm pretty sure I have USB 3.0, I'm just worried that, since I have a laptop, my already poor performance for the game will be even worse. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

2nd your HDD is External, which possibly only runs at 5400 RPM. It takes time to load.
3rd, yes, you can run Tera with it.
Laptop optical drive hdd caddy
Just make sure you check your laptop compatibility and its size (12.7mm or 9.5mm),
I'm really glad you mentioned that. I thought I had a Hard Drive this whole time. Are there 1tb external SSD cards for 50-ish bucks? Or would the Hard Drive not make too much of a difference in terms of loading speeds?
There are 1TB SSDs, but definitely not at that price point. The spinning hard drive will definitely slow down your load times a fair bit (my experience is about 2x-3x loads in TERA).
Yeah, further research showed that they're all at least 200 dollars, and my budget is about 50.
The only reason I'm doing this is because TERA takes up over half of my hard drive space, so would it be worth it to just buy an internal hard drive and transfer the data rather than have an external? Or would that not make a difference in performance/loading times?
and anyway sometime the weight in your main hd will increase with time and you dont know why
so keep your video game in your external if you need to purge your main hd
Start up is the longest of the loading screens you'll see, the rest isn't an annoyingly long load even on a HDD.
I play with my brother here side by side and our setup's difference is basically only the drives, and I can compare it real time to see.
The boot up of TERA is really ~5x slower at best case scenario. The rest of the loads are like twice the time, but once TERA loads up stuff it's done, really only BGs and different maps will take loading. I don't recall Dressing Room taking any time to load on the HDD, but could be wrong on that.
Well I'm strictly a PvE only player, and I don't worry about cosmetics at all, so any dressing rooms or PvP BG loading stuff won't effect me. The startup being that much longer does sound pretty annoying, but if that and the loading screen time increase are the only things that are affected / are noticeable, then I think I'll invest in the external HDD.
That's what I was thinking, but with only 128 gigs TERA takes up more than half of my space.
I've done about 5 minutes of research on it, so I'm not sure about what's compatible with my laptop, and what a good price range is for a 1tb SSHD (my budget is somewhere around 50 bucks), so I'd like to be sure that what I buy is the best choice for me.
You're not gonna get anything else with a 50 bucks budget.
Yeah I know, that's more of a price range for me than something specific. If, for example, something was 80 dollars or so I'd get that (I guess my range is preferably under $100), but something like $150? No thanks.
