Id like to point out a major dysfunction on the "official" Discord
I was trying to find out information regarding gear progression, OWPVP, BGs, just general stuff on the Discord.
I mentioned having previous experience with other MMOs, which gives me familiarity with concepts like evading attacks/CC/etc. After about 10 minutes the conversation got so derailed. Every time i mentioned my foundation of understanding dodging or using class mechanics to evade damage or CC, i was responded to with "you think youre god at the game, but youre actually garbage. No matter how many times i corrected that notion, i was responded to with something like "no you actually think youre god at this game!" No amount of trying to get the topic back on track worked. I ended up getting banned over this. Its ridiculous. Yeah, i did a bit of trolling once it became clear that people would not address my claim directly. But i made it obvious why, and also made it obvious that i was willing to discuss things respectfully if people would address the claims i actually made.
It is really easy to avoid the meat of someones claims by going off on them, and putting words in their mouth, then utterly refusing to accept their explanation of what they meant. Did i sorta deserve a time out? Sure. Do i deserve a permanent ban? Heck no.

Its the one from that thread, which is apparently the same one that you get sent to when googling "tera discord." Google result is the second link.
I guess it does, idk if it was fan made, but it's a joke.
As for the OP. They're just dumb kids, don't let it get to you and when you see a baddy with diarrhea of the mouth die to the slowest attacks. Call them bad, tbag them, then get a snack(s).
Well crap. Was hoping EME staff could look over it and reverse this. Oh well, I guess ill need another group to learn with XD
Im not "good" at the game. My mechanical skill from WoW doesnt make me good at Tera. But, from the looks of my Grid matches, it transfers to Tera in the form of situational/spatial awareness, and evading (at least obvious) attacks. I explained that 4-5 times, but was responded to with "you think youre god at the game" and "well then fight me!" No amount of explanation got it through to them that i wasnt making the claim they were stating.
They were pretty helpful until i explained how my matches in Gridiron made it seem like my mechanical practice from my 10 years in WoW/1 in GW2 was transferring nicely.
If you can find a link, feel free to PM me or post it here. It might have been the player council one that i was on.
Edit: I found it and asked my questions. Well see how it goes.
You'll probably find what you're looking for if you to specific discord servers with a focus. There are ones on this board for rp, region specific ones for gameforge and KR. There even used to be one specifically for pvp that wasn't rolled into reddit, but lost track of it.
If you want to dispute a perm ban then you're best shot is the reddit /tera admins and avoid trolling. They tend to have the same view as far as acceptable conduct in both spots. The tera community is small enough so that anything you say here is seen by people there as well. Be sure your story is consistent and fits the logs, or you're going to have a bad time.
Edit: Nevermind. Looks like they had a far different story on the discord. GL finding a new spot. A little humility and be willing to pvp and learn when talking with experienced pvpers goes a long way.

They can have whatever they want as their story. Stretching a general statement about basic mechanical skill to the point of considering it some overarching claim of mine and everyone elses skill is absurd and disrespectful. I asked for help, was given information that drastically differed from VIDEO's of gameplay in similar situations, that ive seen. I got called stupid for that, so i gave it right back. I admitted to the trolling that i did. I did it because it was obvious that they were gonna address the claims i made, and would rather exaggerate them and put their fingers in their ears/insult me when i explain EXACTLY what i meant. I dont have any plans to appeal the ban. Theres no reason for this much trouble getting basic info. Theres NO excuse for continuously telling me that basic mechanical skill for other games with similar mechanics doesnt carry over with some adaptation and compensation for different functionality within different games. Theres definitely no excuse for putting words in my mouth, then insulting my intelligence based on things i never said.
In a discussion about evidence and practice and application of game knowledge, i have no reason and no obligation to take people at their word when what they say is NOTHING like what ive seen in videos. In my experience, people whos advice differs completely from video evidence of gameplay, are not good sources of info. I will not take an appeal to authority as a reason to listen to someone. If someone wants to claim they are experienced, i want to see evidence, not just talk. Doesnt have to be them, just evidence that the advice works. They dont OWE me anything, and im not ENTITLED to that manner of discussion. But it goes a longer way towards helping a new player than "im experienced, be quiet and listen."
Edit: I should probably point out that stuff i said about the duel with the one dude was out of spite. I have no doubt hed win the duel. There was alot of inflammatory stuff in that conversation. But of course, i was said to be the only one being judgemental or inflammatory. If you think im wrong, and they are right, because they disagreed with me as a group, thats logically invalid. Thus would be the reason i didnt take their words, when videos showed different results.
I got tired of people refusing to accept my explanation of my own claims. Noone does or can know what my claim is better than i can. So, its my duty as a member of the discussion to make sure my meaning is clear. The discussion wasnt about dueling itself perse, more about mechanics stuff and desyncs. OP 100-0 combos, staggers, etc, how to compensate for other people not being where they were when i activate a skill. The trash talk itself was due to the types of response i received, and the insistence that i listen to people "because they claim they do X DPS or X things in PVP over Discord." Ive seen 0 play from any of them, and ive been mislead by groups who call each other bad enough times when ive started a new game. My GW2 play on Necromancer in PVP is all sorts of screwed because of bad habits i got into muscle memory from all the bad info. So my stance is evidence based.
Edit: I cant know for sure, but i think the admin was summoned because i spitefully called someone "[filtered]" without any seriousness in the statement. Also because according to them i "wasnt listening to veterans advice."
At the real endgame (high ratings in everywhere, CU rankings and endgame dungeon clears allinone) nobody really talks about foundation and mechanics outside of dungeon specifics. People deem it n00bbait really because most of it is common sense. By talking about how you do stuff (most of them can be seen from actual gameplay easily) you are basically asking to be trolled.
People judge by rating and reputation. There is no argument there. If you don't have a good rating and/or KDA you are basically just an average person. They have a right to refuse your explanation, and you have a right to refuse theirs. Most people in the states won't know what a real desync is until the server lags a whole lot, and accounting for desync is something you shouldn't do regardless of your ping range due to how unpredictable the server quality can be.
In short, nobody wants to see a long essay (if it isn't a paragraph) of something that is very obvious, or if it is obviously wrong due to years of trial and error.
If you want to talk pvp with someone and they want to take it ingame, just take them up on it. If you get smashed, you learn something. No one is going to take the time to log back in just to flame you. If you smash them you get to test your theories on an experienced opponent (or beat down an unskilled trash talker). There is no downside in playing. There are plenty of downsides to trolling.
I play gw2 for pvp and dress up. I'm god awful on anything but engi builds(scrapper in spvp and condi meme builds). Did my time in wow, where I learned to hate anything but arena and small group pvp. Its best just take each game at face value and as a new experience. You'll just learn faster and enjoy the game more.
