VM7 +15 weapon vs Misery weapon
Well, whenever the new gears come out, some people really doubt whether dungeon drop weapon (slaughter, guile, misery) are better than VM weapon two season before (Imperator for now). And people compare them with their base stats. It is still "not wrong", but not 100% accurate since VM has additional options; 1more enchant option and total 6% dmg from awaken enchant.
Anyway..I would like to show the real dmg test with those gears.
= Experimental condition =
- Character : Archer
- Glyph : Full
- Guild bonus stats : Full
- Accessories : 2 Manorborne(crit) + 3 Estateborne(power)
- Used skill : Thunderbolt from behind at 100%
- Punchbag : Ruins Guardian at Qeldar Station
- Cyrstals : Focused + Savage + Spiteful + Pounding
# Weapon Stats Comparison

According to the base stats, misery weapon is better than VM7 +15 by 8.8%. However, as we all know, VM7 has 1 more option and 6% total dmg from awaken enchant.
# Actual Damage Test

- Column 1 : When I wear only weapon and accessories only (no crystal), misery weapon showed 2.69% more dmg against a BAM.
- Column 2 : My VM7 +15 weapon has full dyads and Misery weapon does not. Misery weapon with niveots (no dyad) still showed 0.4% more dmg than VM7 with full dayd
- Column 3 : VM gloves has an option of "Increases damage by 3%". Misery weapon with VM gloves still showed 2.8% more dmg than VM7 with VM gloves
- Column 4 & 5 : When I put all piece of gears on, Misery weapon showed more dmg than VM7 weapon : 2.8% when no crystal, 0.5% when VM7 has dyads and Misery has normal niveots.
- Column 6 & 7 : Just different combination of armors, but same set bonus. Misery showed more dmg than VM7
# Result
Misery weapon is about 2.5% better than VM7 +15 weapon in ideal condition. However, if your VM7 weapon has full dyads and good etching on it, it is still worth to use and you do not need to change your weapon to Misery unless you really want 0.5% more dmg, or you are going to put full dyads and etching on your Misery weapon.
One important thing you have to ponder is VM7 has 9.3% additional dmg against "Enraged monster" which means your VM7 +15 weapon does more dmg while monsters enrages. When a monster enrages, VM7 does 5.7% more dmg than Misery weapon in ideal condition (same crystal). You can also use 2x enrage options on your Misery weapon, then you will lose 7.2% CDR. 2.5% better, but 7.2% more CD on all of your skills. CDR option is, sometimes, very important when you try to sync your op skills with a monster's enrage (it depends on your class anyway). If your VM weapon has 0.3 crit power instead of CDR, you will lose 30% crit dmg when you switch your weapon to misery.
In short : Misery is better by 2.5% for non-enrage time, but worse by 5.7% when enrage time. (or 7.2% CDR)
Another thing that you might need to concern is set bonus. If you lose a set bonus of power by switching the weapon, Misery will perform less dmg than VM7.
e.g))
- Misery weapon + Misery body + Misery belt + VM7 gloves + Guile boots : 10 power
- VM7 weapon + VM7 gloves + Misery body + Misery belt + Guile boots : 10 power + 9 power
>> Apparently, 9 power is more worth than 2.5% more dmg.
Remember, in general, enrage option become more worthy for groups with good overall party dps.

Mhm..I would say..almost same as misery. And imperator can be better than misery when it has good etch and dyads on it.
Well that's the same for all tho, if you count skill on it you can be like... 3x better than someone else or floormat
First you have a 1% vs a 2% MWed bonus. It may not seem like much but all things here impact how multipliers will apply. (at 3% this would add +250 atk to the VM7 weapon and +147 to Misery, this would decrease the gap between the two weapons slightly in raw atk modifer by 103 atk, and be a step closer to showing true % difference, since when you divide out imperfect numbers you get closer to the real values in decimals. That sounds pointless, but then you're also stacking in Power (which increases based on a higher atk value), and crit mods from crystals and nostrums.
On top of that, you are using dyads on a VM set but not on the Misery set. This is going to skew numbers a big deal, and you could just use Fine Niveots as a cost effective way to show their values at Same % + same crystals.
Lastly, if we're talking only numbers, you shouldn't use CDR on the Misery weapon as you're trying to show the difference in raw damage as opposed to their utility. Utility mathematics would be far more complicated, and raw damage rolls would actually help in proving the difference, as opposed to what would be most ideal for a given class.
The biggest state of contention would be coming from etchings (as it wouldn't be cheap to use them to prove a point unless you were being sponsored.
All in all, it seems VM7 would be better than Misery, and though I can't directly prove it with numbers (I don't have the gold to invest into this sadly), my reasoning are as follows.
1. VM crit resist line
2. CDR (usually as the 4th line)
3. +6% damage to monster at +15
Despite the lower raw atk, you gain far more utility and it begins to shine through when you're using a full set, as you gain the full set endurance bonus which allows for some moderate face tanking and thus more dps time. (Assuming full VM vs full Misery of course).
Thanks for pointing out some things that I missed. I thought the comparison with no crystal would be good enough, but you are right, I should have compared with exactly same crystals.
Well,, here's quick makeup test for one of your question.
With exactly same Niveots, Misery weapon does 3% more dmg than VM7.
VM7 +15 : 1 more additional option (possibly CDR, can be 0.3 crit power)
Misery : 3% more dmg
And as you mentioned, CDR is more complicated to compare. So I simply mentioned it, but did not include in my comparison.
for the MW %, it does not affect base attack modifier. It is included only in additional modifier (green numbers with + mark) and will not be changed by your power stats. Therefore, 1% difference in MW affect much less in the real dmg.
My conclusion is still same tho. If your VM7 weapon has good dyads and etchings, you do not need to switch to Misery weapon UNLESS you will put dyads and good etchings on your Misery. You can skip misery and focus on VM8 or 9.
Thanks again for the comment.
Also for the umpteenth time like this every patch or has been the trend as of late:
Mid tier > last gen VM > Current gen VM
why cuz u dont need an essay or more useless spreadsheets its the double enrage and extra 3 rolls on weapon + the 3% on arms (most ppl at very least get arms weapon)
Read before posting; Imperator is 2 seasons behind, not 1.
And I think you've got your < > brackets backwards.
He's one of those people that just needs to read up on fake news to get his current events.
In either case, @JasonTERA Great comparison, i'm sure this will confirm a lot of hesitancy for players.
According to KTERA patch note, Misery gear does not get buffed. Only VM8 and VM8.5 got buff in KTERA. Default attack modifier of Misery weapon is exactly same in both KTERA and NA TERA
