Pro Tips

Hello, I am new to the game (downloading now) and I come form an Aion background. I played Aion like 2 years and have 3 max level characters in Aion.
I heard many people on forums saying that Tera is better or at least more active and populated than Aion.

I actually tried Tera before like 2 years ago but didn't even make it to level 10 that I had to quit. What made me come back is the new lasses that were not available when I tried. Brawler, Gunner, Valkyrie and Ninja. I love ninjas so when is saw the video of that class I said to myself "I gotta download Tera again" lol

I don't know anything about the game, just that has a unique combat system, similar to Skyrim right? I love Skyrim and played days on that game (still playing) so I think i'll like it. Anyway I wanted some pro tips from you guys because I also heard that in Tera you canìt get to max level in like 1 day if you know what you are doing. So do you have any pro tips to avoid to make the game boring, especially at start game? If you can explain me how the game works and stuff would be great!

Is Tera a group play game? I really like teamwork games where you have to clear dungeons and bosses recruiting a tank, healer, dps etc in group. I hear that Tera is not that grindy like Aion as well which is nice.

Also, which is the best server? More populated, people willing to group play etc..

P.S. Can I have a short intro on the classes as well please? I read the website and watched videos but I think a direct opinion from the players who have experience with the game is better.

Thanks!

Oh yeah how can I change the name on the forum?

I main ninja, second is valyrie. Both are really fun IMO! I've never played Aion(yet), but I can say the combat system is REALLY fun! (I think it's probably what keeps players tbh (I know it's the main aspect for me personally))

It IS a dg based game, starting at lvl 20, you can start queing for dungeons, and it is better to press "cancel" if it tells you it can not find a suitable party, that way you get both a tank and a healer in your party. You can also party up with others and queue as well, OR if you find 4 other players (Tank, healer, and DPS), you can go straight to the dungeon teleportal and enter.

Also, go to "Forums rules and guidelines" in the main forum page, spacecats has listed instructions on how to change your nickname

    Happy TERArising :)

Also it will be grindy, but you can do story (red) quests up until level 20, and dungeon spam if you want, which is the best way to level

Also, I would do red quests while you wait for a party, sometimes the queues can take a long time, especially if you're a dps
  • Is solo gameplay boring or is it doable? Because for example in Aion if you want to solo you can forget it. First of all is boring af and second of all Aion is meant to be a group play. But anyway sometimes I enjoy logging in and play alone for few minutes.

So is a group in Tera of only 4 players max?
Sorry for all the questions but I'm used to Aion 6 players per group. Some dungeons requires Alliances which are 4 groups together essentially. 24 players kicking the same boos' butt. This how grindy it is ahahaha

No, tera dungeons are 5 max, I just meant if you have 4 others in your party, you can do it :)

Solo is doable, and you can also do the quests with other players as well, but say if you want to make another character, you might not want to do all the quests again til 60, so dungeon spam if you don't want to repeat all the quests on another char

Though you have to until level 20, then you can dungeon all the way to 60 if you want

Then there's a new level 60 storyline that gives you a bunch of xp and gold, so you'll want to do that as soon as you get to 60.

Also if you do certain quests, you will get xp boosts and thing. Like, say a certain start of a quests has you kill stuff, then you complete that part, then the next part is gathering, then you finish all parts, and you go to turn it in, you'll get an xp boost

Sorry if this doesn't make a lot of sense, I'm doing my best :)

Also when you get to 65, there are certain dungeons that have 7 players

there is some solo content in game but tera is mostly a group play game. even leveling dungeons now require full party, was possible to clear them solo (most of them and most of the classes), but now they're buffed so it's nearly impossible especially for a new player since you don't know the mechanics. i don't know how grindy aion was, but must bring you the bad news and say that tera is pretty grindy, mostly cause new gear is released every 6 months. but that also depends to you play more casual or are hard core player. at max level you get starting gear pretty easy and it's easy to masterwork and enchant. mid tier is also relatively easy to get especially if you're in guild so guildies can help you with that. if you go for BiS gear, that requires pretty much time, resources and grinding.
ATM most populated servers are Mount Tyrannas and Temper Reach, probably have most possibilites to find a group for dungeons.
about classes... well it's hard to give you a short intro, idk what role and what playstyle you might like. there is a site essential mana that has guides for all the classes so imo it's a best place to get info about gear, rolls, rotations etc. i play all the classes but my favorites are slayer, archer and mystic. unfortunately, slayer has been forsaken from BHS and instead of getting proper revamp (like sorcerer, archer and warrior got), it only gets minor buffs :D
tanking classes in game are lancer and brawler (warrior and berserker can tank too, but warrior requires a lot of work to master and zerk can tank just in theory). most parties prefer lancer cause it has party buffs (guardian power and adrenaline rush), plus his debilitate debuff decreases endurance for 12% compared to 8% other tanks. brawler on the other hand has high dps output and it's much easier to play so it's probably more popular than lancer.
healers are priest and mystic. priest has much higher heal output and it's easier to play imo. mystic requires more work, but if party is experienced enough, then mystic is a better solution cause of crit aura buff. but anyway in endgame dungeons most people play with 2 healers so you get all the benefits :D
dps classes are warrior, slayer, sorcerer, archer, ninja, reaper, gunner, berserker and valkyrie.
atm sorc, archer, valkyrie and warrior are highest dps, Valkyrie is a new class so it's still pretty much op, other 3 got revamp recently. bottom dps are probably gunner and slayer, hopefully they will get proper buff in future.
archer is imo probably easiest to learn, warrior on the other hand is the most complicated, but if you master it, it is pretty much op.

hope i helped a bit. have fun.

What is ti and how do I get it?

every character 40+ can generate this buddyup code. with it you get 30 day 100% experience voucher, free looting pet (permanent) and every few levels you get temporary mounts, some gem you can sell to merchant to get gold, on levels 20,30,40,50 and 60 you get leveling marks with which you get one free level. only thing is you can use buddyup code only on characters lvl 9 or bellow and only once per server.
  • MinimanaMinimana ✭✭✭
There's this thread for buddyup codes, see which server you are and then use a code from someone who is on same server
    https://forums.enmasse.com/tera/discussion/96/buddyup-codes-thread#latest

btw i recommend either Tempest Reach or Mount Tyrannas, they are the most active.

Don't forget the temporary mounts and costumes (Which should be permanent but whatever) :D

But you do get a mount for the whole 30 days that the code is active, which is nice. Has a faster speed than the mount you get later on

There are also battlegrounds for pvp :) Normally only when you get to 65 though :(

There is Kumas Royale though that you can do at level 20, and it gives you a bunch of xp if your teams wins.

It tells you what the goal is when you go into the battlegound queuing screen
