LOW FPS on a GTX 1070 and 7700K?

Only get between 6-15 fps. On my old system a 970 and 4770k, I got 60 fps so this doesn't make any sense. I already submitted a support ticket... But i bet their going to give me the run around. I've ran the game on the lowest settings and i do have the latest drivers for my CPU and GPU. It's a new computer so i don't have to defragment my hard drive and i have the power settings on maximum. I also have the latest version of windows and was only running discord in the background. I will try again when i get home from work but had a break and decided i would post here if anyone else had the same issue.

I wanna help but I can't cause its illegal.
    Oh well.
  • I feel you on that brother. I have Tera installed on a 128gig SSD while running with a 1060 GTX w/ 12gb Ram on a quadcore i7 and I get FPS drops down to the single digits alllll the time. Meanwhile Im running CS:GO at 300fps on max settings or Path of Exile on Max with 100+.
  • It's not a FPS drop, It's constant 15.... It won't even go above 30.

Make sure tera run on your gtx 1070 and not on interne gpu .If you just change your gpu you have to select the new gpu card or else it will put your intern gpu as default card to run on which cause you poor fps .
  • Wait, Does Tera make you pick in the options? That might be it....... that would make sense.

Does your gpu is a nvidia ? If yes go to your nvidia control panel and change it to nvidia gpu instead of your integrated gpu one and reopen tera to see if it workd . Here is the link of the fix from old thread : http://tera-forums.enmasse.com/forums/general-discussion/topics/NVIDIA-vs-integrated-graphics-processor-issues

Just few things which might help.

    1) like @lily89 said, make sure you disabled your Internal graphic in CMOS. Normally, your system automatically disable it when you install external graphic card, but sometimes it does not.
    2) check your CPU/GPU temperature while playing tera. Even if you have a descent system, when there is something wrong with your cooling system so that the temperature goes up over 90C, your system will not work properly. You said your computer is NEW, so I do not think your computer is filled with dust, but it is possible for one or more of your cooling fans (on PSU, CPU, GPU or System) are not working.
    3) Last thing you might need to concern is to install fresh TERA. Uninstall your old TERA, and completely delete TERA-related folder, and then try to install a new, fresh TERA.
  • Should I install Tera Client without steam? Yeah I'll make sure. I checked my cooling system right away. Not even close to 90C. Thanks for the response. It's not. I built it less than 2 weeks ago.

With steam or without steam doesn't matter though . I think the problem lie in tera choose your intergrated gpu as default gpu to run on . You should follow the fix guide I link and change it . Normally your gpu temperature should be around 70°C max only or else it starts overheat and give you bad fps .

    GTX1070 are rated at a maximum of 94°C and the 7700k 100°C.

Although, maybe try doing clean install of drivers and if the 7700k is overclocked try stock settings too. Another thing is if this fps problem is in combat set Lurid Display to 0 too. On some configurations this option causes fps to stay lower.

Do not take any of this "advices" above; except maybe this one:

You have an excelent graphic card and even better proccesor. Tera is a non optimized game that runs in UE 3 with DX 9.......old like me. THEY need to change this game, not you.

  • I could try that once i get home. Currently at work wanted to try and work this out while i have free-time since where i work is pretty dead today. I did only plan on doing the integrated graphics card option. It just really sucks cause my friend has a lesser system ( I gave to him) of a i7 4770k and a GTX 970 which gets 60 FPS. so it's just mind boggling to me. I was thinking the new Processors and GTX 1070 are just unoptimized for this game.
  • This game is optimized like pure garbage which is why your fps is [filtered]
  • WoofulsWoofuls ✭✭
Tera is literally NOT optimized for newer architectures (or at all). That's why a sandy bridge CPU runs the game almost identically to a newer CPU
  • Not even Identically, I'm running it drastically worse, I don't even get 30 FPS. I get 6-15 fps. Even on the Menus, on Loading Screens i get 43 fps... Which doesn't make any sense. Thanks for reassuring me. It is not my system. I will try the Intergated Graphics Card Option than report back on my results once I'm done work. Thank you all.
