I personally applied for the Player Council. I'm probably not going to get a spot on the Council (due to my lack of experience), but I thought "Eh, this might give me something to do when I'm not in college learning things."

I fail to see how assembling TERA's rendition of the Avengers to alleviate En Masse's lack of communication with its playerbase will be more productive than just sitting down and having a sincere discussion on an open forum. That's like recruiting a child to relay verbal messages to your angry, not-talking-to-you-right-now spouse at the other end of the dinner table. You're exacerbating the issue, not solving it.

Besides, does En Masse really need help figuring out what's wrong? Do they really need help with moderation? They know what's going on. They see it. They know what they have to do; they just have to, y'know, actually do it.

This is just a very clever ruse designed to deflect fault and culpability, just another system of control. Very soon, we'll all be fighting and arguing amongst ourselves about who should and shouldn't be on the council, we'll all be pointing fingers and calling names, we'll all lose what little trust we had in each other, and nothing will ever get done. Just by glancing over the last couple pages of this thread, I can see it's already begun.

That said, I endorse counterpoint for councilor. He posted pictures of the Ninja outfits. He's a hero.

Call me cynical, but I honestly don't think anything will change. I mean Yosha told Treeshark directly about Titan Ember's and look at how long that took to fix. It might help clean up the forum maybe, but in terms of real change, I doubt the player council will change much.

Yeah, I don't think the player council will change much except maybe streamlining feedback to EME.

Yep, that's exactly what's happening now lol.

EME staff lack veteran players who have deep knowledge of the game. If they're willing to simply change the loot table, there is huge potential for improvement in TERA. If they're willing to go even further than that, the game could be made into something amazing.

Don't discredit the idea before we test it out. Simply changing loot tables in this game could fix a lot of major issues, and only experienced players can correctly make those calls.

I don't disagree there's a great potential, but it depends on whether EME is willing to listen or not. Yes, they've proven they can change the loot table as they did during SCHM, but afaik they don't want to do that anymore as this post proves, unless EME changed their stance between then and now.

Im surprised you're still around Yithar. Thought you left for BnS for good.
While you're not around EME had made some great change in interaction and communication with players, like updating rewards for PvP, immediate solution for vanguard daily (last patch), increase drop for DS2 (last patch), reducing ilvl requirement as needed, etc...
They ARE willing to listen and make change, the problem is there're too many voice at the moment and since EME's staffs don't really have a good understanding of the game sometimes their immediate action turned out not to be so great. And that's where the player council should fill in.

personally my choice will be limited to yosha, espeir, zokhanal and counterpoint, i dont trust other members
Well I see counterpoint on forums a lot but why are the others so special? O.o

zokhanal is better than us for tera lore

are you serious for yosha and espeir ?
Yes I'm being serious. When's the last time you've seen them on forums?

    zokhanal, today :)

yosha and espeir are in ktera :)

but so this council is only for forum or to help to improve tera ?

because i dont care about the forum, i only care about tera
  • Wait so the player council position is kind of like forum janitors that work for free?

Well, I didn't play BnS that much due to real life, and then my GM recently convinced me to come back for ninja lol.

Oh in that case, I think the player council has a really good chance of working out. It just needs to be made up of experienced players.

I was talking about yosha and espei and they aren't active on forums to that extent. And yes this is about forums based on the op. They're basically asking players to take responsibility for things while giving them no power to act on it. I can understand why they wouldn't just hand out power like that. but then what's the point. Someone else mentioned this and it sort of makes sense: it's just an opportunity for us to attack each other rather than eme.

i dunno why people are worried player council members are going to abuse anything. enmass has the right to revoke that member status if they start misbehaving and abusing their power. like you can send spacecats and other mods on here a message if there really is a major issue.

what is there to even really abuse? aside from editing posts, which i'm sure enmass is able to see if they did and who did. their private forums are something you know enmass will have private access to as well. like, what? they don't tell enmass issues we're having? you guys say they don't listen anyway so that would be nothing new for you all.

Interesting! but life will take me to places outside of Arborea- good luck to those applying!

But council shouldn't have power to edit other player's post. This might cause more problems than good if they start abusing it.

That's exactly the kind of behavior that would get someone removed from the Player Council. The ability to edit is for things like fixing broken links or formatting, not altering the content that others have posted.

Also stop being vulgar in the forums, Desusky, and you won't have to worry about people being offended by your posts.

It should NOT be an option in the first place. Locked doors keep honest people honest.

Interesting! So basically EME would give a small admin power to the player council in order to better manage the forums. This looks promising! Hopefully the players who get selected will not abuse of that power.

After reading through all these posts, I see none of the people others would pick have expressed any desire to join. The few I saw 'applying' pretty much said they wanted it just to 'have something to do'. Maybe the others will post later, or find this idea not something they want part of, and I do understand them.

I've always believed that positions like these, including being a proper paid staff member, are not positions of power but positions of service. But many don't believe it like that, and any players put on those positions will risk the ensuing flak. And why have that extra flak when you can be as helpful the way you are right now? Looking at all the respected people in these forums, they have achieved respect being just members like everybody else. And they are capable of answering a lot of questions as they are.

If people decide not to apply to this and the idea is scrapped, I'd advise EME to instead follow those players they themselves feel are constructive, and check their posts. Sometimes they are answering on another thread they felt is worth to answer, so not only these players are heard, but those being answered to are being heard. It does not make a complete solution. Nothing is a complete solution anyway, but it's a small idea that could maybe get them close to the forum content EME needs to see, at least for the time being.
  • In short, EME wants players to work for them for free, without even giving any rewards? Sounds like they're running out of money or something, I'm sure most of their employees are playing the game themselves so they should know what needs to be fixed.

People state En Masse is out of touch with the player base. En Masse say OK why not create a system where players interact more one on one with us. Maybe this will help us as a company grow and sustain more security and maybe it will help the community grow as well and gain more interest in TERA. That is how I am looking at this system. I know several people who have stated they wish for this and wish for that to be put into play, here is an opportunity for that to happen. Hope it works out for the best
