Wouldn't this simply give you an economic advantage over new player?

Same as when it came Steam and LOTS of new players joined TERA. The good, the bad, the ones that stayed and the ones that left. It was precisely the same, just an influx of new players into the game.
I was speaking on the premise the game would be an entire reboot, with a dedicated server for console only, so at state 0, there would be absolutely nothing on the broker. in this case, this would definitely give transferred characters an economic advantage over other players.

It just doesn't make sense for me for EME to simply open the current tera (including pc servers) to console so i hadn't considered your syllogism with the steam analogue. with my train of thought, it would definitely not be the same.

Side question could this reboot be why it's killing me waiting for console release? Like are they finally fixing the coding?

Keep in mind we have absolutely no specifics about the console version, so we don't know if it would be a reboot.

I see your point. If it was a completely new server, isolated from PC ones, then it would change everything.

I see it from the perspective of console players being able to play on same servers as PC guys. I frankly think this would be beneficial for everyone. It would THEN become a new Steam release case. If it's a reboot tho with 0 stuff in-game, then I think the console launch would be too slow. Specially if no cross play servers on Instances and Battlegrounds. Console players might end up as the early PC beta ones, waiting days to make a full party to run some dungeons, just because, simply, there isn't enough people up to that gear level for example.

Which I agree. We're yet to see if it will be a complete zero start for console players, or if they'll be able to play with us PC folks.
I honestly expect them to be able to play with us PC guys, it would just get them into a more populated game than an isolated console game (specially if both consoles have separate servers), being able to access the wide gamut of items in brokerage, guilds, and players to teach them stuff/run together.

Granted, the issue we're facing now with server stability is something to consider deeply. Well, for once they gotta fix this for good, regardless of what happens. But even more if they do it the way I imagine.

    What they should do is:

Make the game cross-platform so that PC and console users can play together BUT, make new console players be directed so one new server only and allow server transfers after reaching 65 at least this wont really give any advantage towards a transferred account from PC to console since it would be like regular players starting out.
How does that change anything? Alot of 65s on pc already to transfer over keep in mind eso did this look what happened i mean i get it it would be nice to not start all over but time and again we have seen ruin from this kind of thinking.

Yea but how different is that than what you have now on Pc? If a new player comes and starts the game now, there are tons of 65's.
If they transfer to console it basically would be the same thing. The only difference is there would be a big influx of players from consoles and increase in population.

Everything starts at zero they have been super shhhh about it but when they release the release date i'm kinda half expecting a diablo 3 repeat. The sole reason console people are blah is lack of info i mean there is a BIG LONG LIST of communities for ps4 tera already

Even if they don't have to make all the assets from scratch, it still takes a long time to port a game.

For me PS4 user i wouldnt mind to play with PC/XB1 users , the problem to me is that if PC players come with their items from PC , it would unballance the servers cuz their gear gonna be OP for those who just started in console ,

If they make crossplatform with PC and they start from 0 like console users then its totally fine .

its just my though , i want to play a game where everyone started with same conditions , and im sure that if they make a pool or something like that with console players they would think the same as me ^^

PS : this waiting for any announcement to beta date its killing us , we're waiting for a good MMORPG since the new gen launch , hope to see some announcement these next weeks ^^
  • They shouldn't have made us wait like what ... 3 months now. Better make a beta announcement when everything is really ready . But now if they still working maybe they get problems and get postponed ...canceled ? That be ridiculous

You seem to have the same view of it as Seraphinush, and I can understand as well that if it's everything fresh save for possible transfers, then it could become bothersome. Both for the transferees and the fresh console players. The OP geared 65s will have low options for runs (only their fellow transferees) and it's of not much advantage to fresh ones as a grown player base.

Now my view of it was a complete connection with PC servers, like, both consoles (PS4 and Xbox One) being able to play on AV, TR, MT, FF and CH. Then we would have a growing community on both sides.

Granted, that's just my opinion/view on the topic, and then I ask out of curiosity:

If that was the case, that console players were able to chose a complete fresh server for them (say, both consoles on one), without PC players on it, unless they re-roll characters from scratch as well, OR chose to use all the same servers, as they are (but fixed lags), completely connected seamlessly between console and PC, which one would you chose? Let's not think of the transfers now, just between those two. I'm curious to see what is people's view on it.

There was a thing i read about them making a voice chat maybe tying up all loose ends and quadruple checking?
