Collectors edition mount? Really?

"Lets take one of the oldest, unique lion mounts that only a limited amount of people purchaced, jam some wings on it and make it Available to anyone :D"
Totes sounding like an entitled snob, but jeez, if you're going to do that, least of all to to the Frost Ion, make ALL frost lions flying or give the collectors edition owners. This could really be said about all the lions, but really... No offence to anyone whom has them, but they don't hold a candle to how special the Frost Lion is/was... Lol.

Sorry, not sorry. Did my rant. Flame if you want.

Is it just me or is it weird that there are three times the amount of flying lions than flying horses?
  • Syxx619Syxx619 ✭✭
What really irritates me about this is that the Frost lion is literally the ONLY thing that distinguishes a Collectors edition from a basic Founders. The lower level items that are received have been replaced and basically made obsolete long ago and pretty much useless.

Our Collector's Edition and the choice to put the Frost Lion in it exclusively is isolated to our region. I don't think KTera had the same limitation for the lion, though it was likely a largely unavailable item for other reasons. Thus, making it into a flying mount was an easy decision on BHS' part. The fact that NA had the Frost Lion as some random exclusive 5 years earlier is just an unfortunate side-effect of region-specific localization and marketing.
  • There's still no cheap/easy way for someone to get a regular frost lion without wings, so you're still a unique snowflake, just a less shiny one.

Who cares. You still have to shell out 60.00 for it if you want it so I mean honestly why complain?

Obviously you've never taken pride in a Collectors Edition copy of a game before. The reasoning behind them 9.9/10 times is to be that unique snowflake. Not gunna bother explaining it if you don't understand.

I'm not even a collectors item holder but I know how it feels when you purchase something and you get to show it off and be someone who holds a limited item, it's like buying something rare and never touching it in case you ruin the packaging. You're irritated because you dished out cash to be special and they've removed the rarity of the item in a patch by adding wings on it. Understandable.

I like the part where they shove a ton of stationary into the bundle to increase the price :pleased: As a collectors owner I'm sad to see my lion become less shiny, unfortunate but oh well, I'll make do

However I wouldn't mind "upgrading" my account to get Argo except... I'm not bothered about the pens and pencils and I'm not elite and nor will I get elite (wishful thinking I would love a discount price for collector's owners *hint hint nudge nudge* lol)

Same here; I agree. Not only that but there is a bunch of "paint jobs" like with the dragon mounts, sadly.
I'm starting to wonder, is there anything left now that I can dream of having but can never have, if you get my meaning?

I have Ember on my warrior and you can't get Ember anymore if that counts xD(unless there's some skillbooks on the broker I haven't checked.)

I kinda can sympathize with OP and then I kinda can't...I dunno if it wasn't meant to be an exclusive then I don't see the issue. If it was meant to be an exclusive I'd be upset as well.

I dont have the collectors Edition but I kinda agree with OP.

I was shocked that they made a white lion winged mount and made it available to everyone. I was expecting it that they would give it to founders but yah. Money comes first in this game and no respect to those who stuck with them for a long time.

Note: I dont have the collectors Edition but I agree with people who are upset about this.

Well as a Collectors edition owner myself I can honestly say I don't care. They are paying the same price as collectors edition costs anyways so why are you pissing and moaning over it. It makes you look like a 2 year old who lost it's ice cream somewhere.

One has wings, one doesn't. I don't see it impacting the "special snowflake status."
  • NaedixNaedix ✭✭
I'm not bothered so much by everyone being able to have one, though I do understand where your coming from, 100%.

I AM pissed that my so-called special edition lion is now statistically inferior to the common one. I completely agree with the idea of the Frostlion getting a pair of wings.
  • I was a pre-ordering CE customer, and I honestly don't think anything has changed just because they re-used the base model and added wings. In practice, the mount had already been superseded by "stat" mounts anyway, so its value as a "mount in inventory as a status symbol" is basically the same. Just because others now have a winged look-alike, it's still not the original mount. It's more obviously different than the achievement items that were added to Fed Bills and only the name was changed.
