Restore controller functionality
As of the recent few patches the game seems to have removed some key functionality for the controller. Namely the ability to choose between camera facing and character facing skill orientations in the controller options window.
My suggestion is that this loss of ability to choose between character/camera facing skill orientation be reversed to its previous state.
I understand that in the current patch with a controller you can use skills based on your characters face direction... however this is only the case when you have an active movement command input in. This is a huge loss of functionality due to the loss of your ability to use a skill without triggering it's option to move forward as well.
For example:
-> Previous to this loss of functionality, playing a Reaper you could have your camera facing 12 o clock tap your joystick to face 8 o clock then use smite without a directional input and be able to stay put and have it's associated hit box(5 ish meters towards 8 o clock and 2ish meters towards 2 o clock)
-> Currently if you face your reaper in the 8 o clock position with your camera aimed at the 12 o clock position and attempt to use smite you will automatically use smite in the 12 o clock direction. That means you won't get the same hit box as you did previously(instead you get 5 ish meters towards 12 o clock and 2ish meters towards 6 o clock).
What this means is that you can no longer use smite based on your character's facing direction without also moving towards that direction. This removes your ability to perform smite with the "non movement" option and requires you to use the alternate version of smite which moves you a few meters forward for about 12m stun range hitbox in front... but without any stun hit box behind you.
This can result in you moving out of range for some of your follow up skills resulting in a clear disadvantage that wasn't present previous to the new controller scheme.
This issue, while clearly felt the most with reaper (smite, grim strike, and sundering strike), also affects every other class in subtle ways that lead to a diminished nuanced feel in pvp.
So once again. I strongly suggest that the current controller scheme be rolled back to the previous version that allowed players to choose between character and camera facing skills. If this weird hybrid system is truly desired by some players, there's no reason not just include it as a third option.

100% agreed. This idea of suddenly changing drastically control methods feels like a completely overlooked issue during development. It just doesn't make sense to the point of looking like it wasn't intentional, but then, we see another sudden change after VSHM patch, that changed all melee DPS to character facing out of nowhere.
I understand that there has been changes that could break the old control system, like the directional backstep on Priest, being an independent direction from the selected option, but this is frankly something that should be tested and FIXED before making the change. As a Priest I can live with my fixed direction backstep towards camera, that's how I've learned the class after all, if we need a complete revert to the older system.
I just cannot in other hand live with forced character direction control. Suddenly breaking the control method I used is not something I'll just deal with, my love for the game is not strong enough for me to just re-learn it.
I also understand there are players that may benefit from the new system, in fact on Priest it's only an issue during solo DPS for me, which is something very rare in my case. For other classes in other hand not. Being this the case, that some people may prefer this new method, some people did prefer full camera direction, and some did prefer full character direction, then I strongly suggest to just keep the hybrid input system as another option on the controller settings.
Let's yet again bring back the infamous console port topic too, since this issue will be of extreme importance to these new players: A huge influx of new players playing mainly (if not exclusively, hopefully not exclusively tho) on controllers, being out of options to make the control scheme more fluid and work as is more intuitive, would be a complete bummer, if not a game changer in the whole success of the port or not - keep in mind console games are expected to be played WITH a controller. Bad controls on controller = bad game.
After explicitly explaining how functionality in the game was lost in my support ticket, there was no attempt made to notify or even contact anyone above the basic customer support rep (GM).
Things to make a player quit:
1. Bad customer service - check
2. Loss of essential game features - check
3. Telling customers to deal with losses and keep playing anyway - check
EME once again makes it apparently clear that THEY DON'T GIVE A SH|T about their player base... as long as they're good little sheeple and keep buying [filtered]|ng loot boxes >_>
