Armor/Weapon Crafting: Idea

I been having this on mind lately. Once again disclaimer, this is my personal opinion on what should be done in order to revive crafting tailored to NA. I also wanna know what the community, at least the forum community, think about changes like this and if EME can at least, actually forward this to BHS in hopes for them to finally act and revamp crafting as a whole.

Given that armor and weapon crafting are the single most useless crafting professions, since you can get gear by farming dungeons and CuV, this is what i propose:

Armor Crafting: Replaced completely with what i like to call Apparel Modification
- No longer armors will be crafted, so no longer you will have in your crafting list that old armor you never made because dungeon dropped a better one for you.
- Instead, Fashion is gonna be crafted, weapons and armors.
- Will require Fashion Coupons to work.
- Is a comeback of the much requested remodeling system, combined with fashion coupons.
- Has all available armor and weapon models in game.
- The way it works: Fashion Coupons now only will sell an Armor/Weapon Template that you need in order to create your own designs. Designs for armors (chest, hands, feet) and weapons will be available through the crafting merchant to learn. You craft your own combination of armor, using Fashion Coupons as ingredient too, and then use a "remodeling" NPC/UI to fuse your crafted armors/weapons into the template to create your own unique look. You could also, while in the fusing process, change the color of each armor part with dyes. If you wanna change the colors individually again, you have to dismantle the armor through the same NPC/UI.

This way, Fashion Coupons will be once again needed, as many people just have thousands of them lying around, and the much requested remodeling system will be brought back to life, giving also some more light into Crafting.

Weapon Crafting: Replaced completely into what i call Crystal Craft
- No longer weapons are gonna be crafted.
- Instead, you will be able to craft, and modify the current existing weapon and armor crystals.
- Will allow a greater level of customization regarding different options for both PvE and PvP, a nice substitute for the Talent system we will never get.
- The way it works: You will be able to make and customize crystals that drop from dungeons/BAMs/bought or you yourself make. Through this craft, you will be able to make even Dyads, with the right options and even some additional ones. Get materials from dungeon/BG drops, Go to the Crystal Crafting window, and you will be able to select which crystal you want to make (designs for each crystal will be available through crafting merchant). Once crafted, you will be able to select which options, in the case of dyads, you want the crystal to have, with another special item crafted via the same UI window.

I dont know, like i said, this is purely personal opinion. Im leaving this here in hopes of BHS to finally decide to revamp crafting, or simply leave it in the dust like they did with the old daily quest system.

i'd rather if gear is way harder to obtain, that way crafting would become profitable again (ofc if someone in BHS finally realizes that mid tier CAN'T use herpvein powder, capring handles etc). i liked old system where weapon and armor boxes didn't exist and you had to run dungeons many times to get your gear or simply buy it or craft it. also it would prevent new, inexperienced players to queue harder dungeons. cause current ilvl requirements for dungeons are a joke and very misleading (423 for vsnm and tsnm). if they had to spam easier dungeons for gear, they would at least lern their class before playing something more challenging.

Nah, you can craft Quatrefoils with either armour or weapon crafting. Alchemy is the most useless.

Still, I'd like the remodelling system to come back.

i'd personally give up my left nut and all the chakra in my third eye for the remodeling system to come back in any sort of way

I started with the WW patch, which I think was right after remodeling got removed. Anyone mind indulging me in how it worked?

real simple there was this lady who you brought your good gear to plus the set of gear you wanted your good gear to look like and blammo she'd change your good gear to look like the other gear you brought her. and the best part was you could do it all separately, weapon, chest, gloves and boots, so you could mix match looks from every tier. and of course dye them all separately too.

compared to these days it allowed for crazy amounts of creativity that BHS apparently hates nowadays

Huh. Could you, say, transmute metal into cloth or anything like that? Or did it all have to be the same armor class?
  • ArdireArdire ✭✭✭✭✭
Nah, that was the one rule-- had to be the same class of gear. No mix matching metal and cloth, or leather and metal, etc.

They gave up on the remodeling system because it amounted for more job to be done when new armor sets were released apparently. The original BHS team had a great vision for TERA, a vision that died once the new BHS team took office and started to mutilate the game to save on resources.

I like the idea. You could bring alchemy into the fold by using it to make the dyes/mats needed and just swap aterstod oil to alchemy for more relevance.

I dont understand why aterstod oil isnt in alchemy now tbh.

Sorry for the double post but you should also make this a master crafting only deal. If people are going to craft they should be able tp turn a profit and if they are going to turn a profit it should take real work.
