I'm still experimenting with this and don't know if it's posted elsewhere, but I think one can still sort of 'choose' which bam token to farm. On my current i-level, I'm sent to farm bams from the three tiers. Now, if you see your vanguard list (H), you will see one bam type at the top, and another bam type near the bottom. You could chose to fight those, but I've also discovered that you can also fight a bam type not currently on the list.
How this helps? Say you want to only farm mid tier bams but they are not on the list. Just go and fight one of each mid tier bam, and at least from what I tested, one of them will pop on your list. You will see the 1/10 mid screen message appear. Kill those 10, get your tokens, and fight one of the other two types on the tier to see if they give you the 1/10 message as well.
Again. Maybe I was lucky. I'm still researching this, but at least if this works, people will still be able to farm their preferred token without having to move to the others.

The change to regularize the amount of tokens given by BAMs was nice since last patch each gave a different amount but the only issue I could possibly think of is that there a classes where one specific type is just easier to do than the others (I hate giants on sorc... they move too much, however, I prefer hydraths because they move less...) so it would be nice to have that aspect back.
I agree, I would like a system similar to the old one, even if it still limits you to 3 VG dailies of a certain tier. Like you, I do find problems using certain classes against certain bams. What I'm trying to do here is to at least be able to choose what type of token, not bam, to farm. Because people were complaining about being forced to farm a token they didn't want at the time (As in, tier 1 tokens when you want tier 3 for that run). This doesn't make you choose the same bam type more than once, but at least eases up the specific token farm. Anyway. My VG dailies have been reset and I'll try this thing again now.
Oh I see what you meant, but as far as I know you're not forced to do one specific type of token as long as you have the required ilvl for it (again, not sure if you could do all 3 tiers if you reach the ilvl for all tiers but I know for sure you can't do one you don't have the ilvl for), last patch you couldn't do Hydraths for example if your ilvl wasn't high enough to do it (I did Nagas on schisma brawler because ilvl was high enough for those but for some reason not for hydraths... probably jewelry or innerwear or something >_>)
Is your VG list filtered? For as of now, I can see each tier of bams on my 409 brawler when I pull up the list. Of course you know the order of which one they tell you to kill first is random. But I can still see all three at once, low tier, mid tier and high tier.
So for now, it seems to work. Sure, it won't solve the problem of wanting to kill 30 of the same bam, but at least you can ignore any tier you don't want tokens from.
The system changed with the patch. Before, each type of bam had it's own i-level requirement and also gave a different amount of tokens. For example, tier 3 had naga, giant and hydrah. the naga gave 4 tokens if I remember right. giant gave 5 and hydra gave 6. At i-level 397 I was able to get up to nagas, but not giants nor hydras. Now they changed it to allow a certain item level to open up all of a tier's bams, and all now give the same amount of tokens.
And you are not forced at all to do one type of token, but I've seen people complaining that they were told by the VG daily list to do a certain bam from a tier they didn't want to deal with. I'm just telling them to simply keep selecting and killing the bams from the tokens they want and up to what their i-level allows them to.
On my current test, no tier 2 bams showed up on the list unless I made the counter pop by killing the correct one. If by filter you mean the drop down menu with check marks, then all of those are checked.
Yep. That's the issue me and seemingly a few others are having. Hence why I decoded to test and set the score right on this.
The only way you can change the quest to another type of bams is to unequip your armor, wait for the quest to disappear then reequip it again to receive new quest order. Killing bam without the quest will not change the quest order.
Indeed, the equip-re equip practice may change the order. Good for when you just want to to a single quest. As for the marker on bams themselves, if they are not on my quest list, the marker above their heads won't show, even if killing one pops in a quest. My list also never gives me more than two bam quests at a time. Perhaps a bug on my end. I may have to try with lower i-level to see. I'm currently at 414.
You do realize that the VG list scrolls right? I have found that the mid-tier bams are usually listed near the bottom of the scroll. As Sylviette said you could be experiencing a display bug. But the fact that one of the 3 mid tier works when you attempt to kill each one is telling me that one of those particular bams should be showing on your VG list somewhere.
There is a display bug, it won't always show for some people, it happens on a few of my characters. Although, the green ! still appears on what needs to be killed for it. This display bug actually isn't new and has existed for a while now.
Yeah. I know the list scrolls. It has quite a lot of missions. I'm now running VGs on an i-level 402 slayer and this one does have a mission for each tier as opposed to the two on my il-414 character. Odd. Odder since my 414 toon gets a mission for tier 1s and tier 3s but not tier 2s. On a side note, killing giants as a low power slayer takes awhile, but it's fun.
