  • No more masterworking, awakening, painfull rerolling. BHS deserves a great big thank you gift basket for this. Maybe this less painfull system will help breathe some more life into TERA =)

@Eishaa It's the same, I think, they're both promoting your gear.
  • EishaaEishaa ✭✭
@KarmaTheAlligator Not really. All you're doing when you convert the old gear is making the new gear equivalent of it. That doesn't really fit the definition of promoting :/
  • KarmaTheAlligatorKarmaTheAlligator ✭✭✭✭✭
@Eishaa it is labelled 'New gear promotion''From existing gears'. To me that says it's the same as promoting from lower tier.

You'll lose etchings, dyads, and dual option for upgrading to next tier if i read it correctly.

@KarmaTheAlligator I understand your reasoning XD but a more definite answer is preferable. It's like the one thing out of this whole document that isn't 100% clear, and depending on whether it keeps the etchings and stuff or not, I'm going to either keep Behemoth on one of my chars, or get them Deathwrack for this upcoming update x_x

But uh, if there IS no definite answer on this particular aspect of the update because the dev note itself isn't clear on it, just lemme know, and I can just wait til we know for sure :p

@Eishaa To be fair, we're not supposed to keep any of that when we upgrade gear tier anyway, and I'd say that's the same thing.

If I were to be honest, I see a few pros about this system.

    1) CRAFTING IS OFFICIALLY REVIVED FOR REAL

I don't see anything that said that you don't need enchanting to get x material.

    2) Less RNG I guess

Well RNG is still not completely eliminated from the game yet, but well at least it isn't as horrible now.

    3) Progression feels like progression.

Sure getting midtier in NA will be a whole lot harder post this update. But when you get to the next form of the gear you will actually feel you are stronger rather than "oh I just got a gear that I need to maximise rolls and max enchant just to be stronger.

There are of course cons too:

    1) You can't just grind dungeons/dailies to get everything.

Not entirely a bad thing, but if you dont' have much time each day, you will probably need to be smart in your daily planning

    2) Rich players will instaget their latest gear.

Unless dungeons are the key to getting untradable material, it is possible for the hoarders to be at endgame nearly instantly. Sure it helps complete newbies get into the game slightly easier than before, but it doesn't solve the problem of a few people monopolizing everything.

    3) Gear disparity just got worse

Just like the 3rd pro, the difference between a midtier and high tier will be even greater than it would be before. Is this healthy? I don't know for sure, but what I do know is that BHS must not make it such that you must have the highest tier to do normal dungeons (if it is HH-esque, I can probably understand, but for normal endgame dungeons? Nah put the bar low enough for people to try the game)
  • Wow this sounds promising ! Thanks for the hard work and sharing this with us . Im actually hyped for the future of tera...i think most of that was already wanted by players.

    \o/
  • Does it mean that the current misery gear is upgradeable? Or do i have to craft VM on chars i would like to keep upgrading?

Misery +12 gets you the Altered Gem gear +0.
  • If
    Behemoth +15 =Cold Metal Gear +9
    and

    Oblit +14 = Screaming Rage Gear +0
    and

    Screaming Rage +0 > Cold Metal +9
does it mean Vm9+9,5 are gonna get buffed that much over behemoth?

    since currently vm8,5 + 15 = vm 9 +13 or smth

  • This looks amazing! Thank you, was about time to change things.
Good job, I cant wait for the changes, now i am more willing to spend much time on Tera, i was kinda bored, now i am so exited. :)
P.S...Get ready for my cute gunner elin! <3
