yeah but some haven't even logged on for years and years. Legit no point of just keeping them around when other active players can enjoy looking at their fresh name.
Id be really pissed if my acc with what I've spent as well got wiped for any reason
and yes since my start with game start I've had some real lengthy brakes for reason inclusive but not exclusive to just needing to get out of tera for a while and has lengthened due to reasons , but keep coming back

What if they send out an email about the wipe. Then only the people who are never coming back would release their name to the active playerbase.
I won't disagree with name wipes , nor am I pro , but just to wipe any inactive account unless pre warned (well pre warned) could end up a bit harsh for a few , so yet if done right this way prob work
Yes but still, they managed to get their name, they had to be fast like everyone else and put in the "effort" thus the names they used be in active or not is still theirs, regardless if they play or not. Its like they would remove a costume you bought a long time ago because people that cant get it asked for it to be removed.
I frankly find the analogy to a costume pointless.
You don't give a costume to someone else by removing it from another person, nor do you need to keep a set amount of virtual costumes there - they just get generated on the fly.
A name in other hand is a type of ID that others in-game use to find you up, and that one cannot be the same for 2 players on same server simply based on it's concept. I would bet that if you queue on a same BG/IM along with another character on another server with the same name, you'll not get on the same match ever, exactly to avoid this issue.
It's already a big stretch to allow a same name to be had in different servers, which causes this aforementioned issue PLUS moving players from different servers.
Honestly if I left TERA for good, or heck even if I left a character there to gather dust, it would be fair to clean up it's name for another person to be able to use. On the server side of the things, the entire storage usage is also a thing to consider, but we're not even going into the account wipe, just freeing up the name.
Comparing a costume to a name, what? I have 5 names I really want and they're all taken by lvl 1-30 characters. People are still hoarding and selling names, it's just really unfair. The only one I can see being against this idea are people hoarding names.
It's not even fair
Can you explain specifically what's unfair about it?
Except from having tons of lvl 1 chars with names stacked to sell them for gold, while others want to have them? It has been a long while since the namewipe and they're still hoarding names? I wouldn't care if you actually used the names or sold them already for my part, but some just hoard them, even this long after the namewipe. Now, how is it fair in your eyes?
You just described what some people have done you haven't explain what's unfair about it.
People have something that you want, but they're not willing to give it to you. Therefore it's unfair? Is that what you're saying?
Why isn't he?
Just because you want something it doesn't mean you're entitled to it.
they were fast eniugh to get it so its theirs.
As someone compared a name to an "ID" :
Exactly so you want eme to remove someones id someones name which he was known for. Thats whats unfair not people holding names which they got in a fair and honest way.
Just cause there is a name u want because you use it somewhere else or want it for [filtered] or w/e doesnt make u entitled to it at all.
