(SEA) What server do you play on?

I'm living in the SEA region myself and want to begin playing TERA. Just to be sure, are there any servers that SEA players can connect to in order to get decent ping, around 100 - 150 or lower?

  • All the EME TERA servers are located in the same datacenter, so you won't see massively different performance from one server to the next. I think 150 ping or lower is unlikely under normal conditions.

Any clue on whether JP/KR would give better ping?

You will have 200+ ping on any server. I myself play in Ascension Valley.

JP would give better ping than KR for me, but depends on where you live.
KR could be better than JP if you live closer to KR, vice versa.

They will give you better ping but they are region locked. I don't think you can play on them unless you actually live in their country or have citizen ID or something.

Do you guys have any trouble with battling when having 200+ ping, such as trouble with dodging at the right time etc? Is it enjoyable playing with this high of a ping, or does it not affect the gameplay that much?

Playing with 200+ ping is pain is the [filtered]. It can be tough in PvP but idk about PvE.

I'm playing from Singapore as a brawler, I usually have 220-280ms. For me it doesn't affect game play that much in PVE but it'll be hard to play certain classes like lancer/archer. Myself and many others have managed to do endgame dungeons without much problems unless my ping goes above 270.

    Wow, that's pretty impressive xD
  • Anyways, thanks for the comments. Will download the game and try it myself.

KR would be approx 60, JP fluctuates from 80-120 due to weird routing.

But I will be honest here, unless you are spiking heavily (using a wireless connection or running multiple connections), you don't have that much of a problem. The biggest problem with SEA gaming is only the desyncs, difficulty of getting some chains to work and these jitters that can randomly kill you if you are unlucky.

You definitely need to be faster than those local to the server for PvE, but it is doable.

My internet speed is not the greatest with only a speed of 1 megabit/second. Correct me if I'm wrong but from what I've read, TERA for KR/JP regions are region locked, so I don't think that it would be possible for me to play on that server.
  • Tera is only IP locked for the Japaneses servers, meaning that if you have a Japanese VPN you can connect to it without problems. Korea, on the other hand, actually requires some kind of ID if I remember correctly.
