I think most of us are wondering why the drop rate is so low, not about when it will be offered again.
On a realistic level though, seeing the low rates dissuaded me from buying them at all. No fail cap has always made me avoid loot boxes in this game, except in moments where I had like, 300 emp leftover or something.
I rather would pay $20-$25 for a costume box with chances to get a jack pot (with dyeable included).
I mean, I willingly pay 2.4k-3k EMP for a garantued costume with chances to have something better.
Same tbh. If they just had the summer wrap costume up for like 30~50 bucks alongside the lootboxes for if you're feeling lucky, I'd actually be tempted to just buy the item outright despite the outrageous price. Hell, if there were a failure cap so that after, say, 50 failed boxes you just get the damn thing, I'd be fine with it.
Hell, if they just came out and told us the rates, I'd be fine with it. We get this stuff straight from Korea, right? If they have to tell them in kTera, maybe someone can just find their lootbox notes and assume it's the same for our version.
I do think they should post rates (as I've said), but lootboxes are completely different by publisher, so you can't infer rates from what K-TERA did. And I suppose, for whatever reason, EME and other F2P publishers don't want to post lootbox rates until they're required to do so by law (as is the case in Korea, Japan, etc.). I don't think they should wait for that, but...
I seriously doubt they will change them based on location, but I, like Elle Woods, dare to dream.
The lootboxes are completely different with entirely different items here. There's no relation at all to the boxes in K-TERA, so there's no way to compare.
http://iteminfo.nexon.com/probability/tera
that lists the probability percents for their items.
That's pretty neat. I dumped it into google translate and came out with this: http://i.imgur.com/BkdivnK.png
Some of these rates seem low as hell. If they were changed for our version, I sure doubt they were increased.
Statistically it evens out in the end if you buy boxes regularly, but without knowing the 'real price' in terms of average expenditure per item, there's no reason for me to spend anything. The mere knowledge of possible frustration is enough of a deterrent. Why should shopping make me mad instead of happy?
Yeah all it takes is for you to keep getting just barely off on the rng slider and bam you can't get it. Even if you spend thousands, there is an odd that you don't get it simple as that. rng works in both ways, and i feel bad for anyone unfortunate to have worse luck than ive had with a certain housemaid loot box for elins.
I spent around 150$ trying to get one. It got to a point where i didn't care about the outfit, i just wanted to see how ridiculous it was, how long and how much money i would have to spend to get one. Simply put i just wanted to win, xD That was the last loot box i ever bought after i beat it and got the item. Loot boxes often time deter more people than it seems to make money. However company's like the unknown and the chance that people won't get the item and have to spend more, rather than them just paying a premium and out right buying it.
Too low of odds deter people from wanting to try, and or buy. eme could make a lot more money if they added in the costumes and charged a premium. Or added in an account based version only at an even more insane price if they still wanted to remain shady af. I don't think i will be buying into any more loot boxes myself, after ive spent over 150$ just trying to win and in the process getting the costume i want. It's simply put just not worth it for me, i can just buy a few elite things and bam i got the costume that way. Like 40$ is all i had to spend to get one.
Tl:dr fork loot boxes! and rng can make it so you can never get an item due to rng and luck/probability. And stacking rng on top of rng like they did with this box has caused complete havoc and it's a shady practice we should not stand for.
