23/07/2017 - Tera's gender lock petition

Hello everyone.

I played Tera before it was out on "En Masse" and plan to join the console's beta on xbone. I've seen this game derailing from a true fantasy action MMORPG into a cos-playing loli fest and i find it disturbing as many others do.

If you feel the same, please contribute 2 minutes of your time and sign this petition: https://www.ipetitions.com/petition/tera-gender-lock-classes

Lets make our voices visible and hopefully conveyed to the right channels of this game decision makers.

Thank you.

I apologize for the inconvenience this may cause to to get your "voice" heard, but petitions are against the TERA forum rules & guidelines.

    B. Spamming and Post Content
    - Petitions are explicitly forbidden. Please note, calling a petition a request will not disguise its true nature.

There are other ways to getting your "voice" heard, even just by having a discussion about it with other players in the TERA forums. I can assure you that En Masse knows how certain players feel about having female-only classes, and so does BHS. A couple of weeks back, BHS teased that the next possible class after the elin gunner could be a male human brawler. If you want to start a discussion about this topic, you can in the general discussion sub-forum. Thank you!
  • This topic has been discussed many times already. Rules might be rules but it seems like a more drastic approach is needed to get the attention of the staff.

The staff is very well aware but it all comes down to what BHS wants in the end
  • I have to agree that the gender lock is getting out of hand. I personally would like to see the Amani get more classes. Like gunner or valk skills. Even if it is gender locked. I have a ninja/reaper and I still spend more time on my human war or castanics. Not a fan of elins or popori. Give the other races (not just elin or female) some new classes to play please. Some men actually like to play male characters and not little girls. NA is not as into lolicon as Korea.

But that's exactly the thing, TERA's created by a Korean company, they will try to appeal to their own demographic first and Elins and generally female characters are preffered there.
I agree it's annoying, I would definitely like to see more male characters going aroud (more castanics more castaniics, there's never enough male castanics ;P) but as I said before, it'll all come down to BHS.

i feel like if tera was pay to play instead of free to play, then bhs might would listen to our suggestions and complaints a little more and do something about it. as it stands, it is free to play and Koreans are the demographic, not us. we have to keep that in mind. bhs is in charge and they have let that be known to eme on a few occasions, and they will do what they want, when they want, and how they want. all we can do is hope they will change but trying to force them into changing isn't going to work. so a petition wouldn't be worth the time to even click on the link for all the good it would do.
  • this is a major reason why i will prefer to play "Black desert online| when it comes out on xbox one instead of "Tera"

I am... and I'm okay with it.

  • I'm more amused at the gender lock thing than not. I don't mind making characters of whatever gender -- restrictions ARE frustrating at first, but they also inspire creativity. Funny point, though, about so many female classes and the supposition that this will drive cash shop buys. While I do care more about appearance for my female chars, locking gunner is hilarious.

The damn gun is so big that I can't even see my character. I do like the play and the art for gunner, but all I can see is a name over the gun. Why would I bother to skin-out a character I can't see? Also, both elves and castanics look great in their natural skins. They don't need much (or any) work beyond perhaps some fed-bill gear to keep the appearance locked to something you like as you level.

    Thank you for your opinion,
im sure many share your view.
  • Oh, I support unlocking; peeps obviously badly want it and this is an issue that could keep people from playing in the first place. I can see a prospective newbie thinking "ninja class, cool!" ... then "omg, I gotta play as a little girl!?" .. pass. Hell, I'd far preferred to have made a male brawler -- was actually a bit mad I couldn't, at least at first. Got a nice name and (eventual) skin plan for her now, though, so I'm kinda hooked on the fem brawler.

OTH, this is a *small* game. With limited resources for art and animations, would you rather have a new class or a less restricted old class? I agree that if they're doing it for the cash-shop angle, it's not as smart as it might seem (see gunner comment above :). If it's the only way for them to afford a new class, hmmm. I simply have no clue how much it costs to do a new set of anims. Do they make one master anim and tweak it for each race/gender? Do an entire new motion study with new actors for each? Dunno. The unique racial anims are one of the most charming things about the art in this game.

If it's fairly cheap, I'd be mad right along with you. If it's costly, well, I'd be resigned and understanding of BHS' situation.
  • Dont think they would care to change it though. BHS and EME never actually improved, they just cracking their heads thinking ways to milk cash from players through female class and new classes.

There's no improvement in terms of story, gameplays... just lots of repetitive dungeons and grindings.

Gender-locking, from their perspective, is a way to earn money. This game aint about gameplaying experience, its about cash milking!
